Food is served is small plates

This is a long overdue review since we went to this restaurant over a year ago and will rerun next week. Anyways, is a modern Chinese-Japanese restaurant located at the heart of Edinburgh. If you visit the city and are looking for an exceptional dining experience, look no further than Tuttu. This charming restaurant offers a perfect blend of contemporary cuisine and warm, inviting ambiance. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with the delightful aroma of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, setting the stage for a memorable meal. The menu at Tattu is a celebration of creative culinary artistry. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, showcasing a harmonious balance of flavors and textures that delight the palate. The plates are rather small, but whether you're indulging in their exquisite seafood options or savoring the perfectly cooked steaks, every bite promises a burst of freshness and quality. One of the highlights of Tuttu is its attentive and friendly service. The staff are not only knowledgeable about the menu but also genuinely enthusiastic about ensuring you have the best dining experience possible. The place is heavily staff making it easy to be served quickly, and all of them seemed to be more than happy to recommend dishes or pair wines to complement your meal perfectly. The atmosphere at Tattu is both elegant and relaxed, making it a fantastic spot for any occasion, whether it's a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or a special celebration. The place is FULL of flowers. Even at the ceiling hanging. The decor is modern yet cozy, with a touch of sophistication that adds to the overall charm of the restaurant. In summary, Tattu in Edinburgh is a culinary gem that should not be missed. Highly recommended! But make reservations in advance, since this place is always full.

Wow, let's start off with that. I came here for dinner and a night out with family and to enjoy Edinburgh. We had an early reservation as it does book up pretty fast. Funny thing, I've walked passed by numerous of time and never knew about it. When you walk in, there's a waiting area to one side and the bar to the other. As well as the hostess. We didn't grab a drink first as our table was ready. The whole layout was quite pretty. Asian inspired with all the cherry blossom everywhere. The mood lighting just gives it that extra pop. Menu wise for both food and cocktails were quite exquisite. Many of great choices were to be made. Wine selection was quite impressive as well. As most of the dishes were a la carte, we opted for the tasting menu. Pre set for two which basically everything that came out was amazing. The seared tuna was too notched and my favorite. Also the steak, cocked perfectly and really flavorful and juicy. Crispy duck, another favorite. Basically everything on the menu was amazing. I believe the sea bass, also cooked perfectly and tender and flakey. Finished off with the dessert which did the trick after an amazing meal. Everything was too notched, full of flavors and cocked perfectly. Service was seriously amazing. Everyone who came to our table was excellent. Friendly, attentive, polite and very gracious. Also recommend a good amount of cocktails for us to try. Highly recommend this place and for sure will be returning when we're back in town. It is a bit pricey depending on what you order but worth it.

The food and ambiance were very good but the service was horrid. I was sitting right next to the other people I was with during this meal and I wasn't asked once the whole experience on what I wanted to drink until I had to get the attention of the server's myself just so I can get a drink. I enjoyed everything about the restaurant but I was very disappointed about the service. EDIT- The restaurant is not able to make ANY accommodations to any item on the menu, so if you see something on the menu that you have interest in but want to take something out, I wouldn't recommend coming here.

Delicious! Our table tried the scallop skewers, caramel soy aged beef filet, green beans, and white miso salmon. It was all cooked perfectly. Their cocktails were beautifully served. Our server checked in frequently. The restaurant ceiling is covered in cherry blossoms, stunning!

The food, service, ambiance and decor was spectacular! Highly recommend doing reservations ahead of time as the place can get fairly busy If you're a large party I would definitely recommend the Modern Sharing. It includes three waves of meals, with variations in each wave. we were a large party and there was plenty of food for all. The hostess and our waitress were kind and friendly, they gave excellent recommendations and were patient with our large party.

Tattu is an atmospheric and moody little restaurant in the heart of new town within Edinburgh that just might transport you into a new world full of cherry blossom trees and love. The restaurant offers Asian inspired food and craft cocktails. The cocktails are elegant, floral, and some even come in decorative glasses that resemble roses and even dragons. While the cocktails are amazing the food is simply wonderful as well. The plates are best shared between people so order around 4-5 plates to share. While the menu can be a bit confusing the staff is wonderful at explaining dishes as well as making recommendations. Def a nice night out but make sure you're not in too big of a rush as service may be slower than you're used to.

The menu is alittle limited and we had a hard time finding what to eat so we decided on ordering small plates to make it tapas style. All of the food we did get was amazing!! My favorite was the short ribs. The ambiance with the flowers on the trees was so beautiful! My only real issue is the service was slow, maybe they were letting us dine and take our time but it took forever to just get brought the dessert menu. Overall I highly recommend Tattu!

Greeted and sat immediately on a Tuesday night at 1700. We did have reservations for 1730. The hostess was very friendly. The decor and ambiance is unique and delicate. The food was good. But nothing too over the top. The fillet was super tender. The drinks were pretty in presentation. Not as good in flavor. Overall, a nice experience. But probably wouldn't come back.

Came in out of the damp cold for a drink. Absolutely beautiful! Amazing bartender and so friendly. Come down the side street and check it out. You won't be disappointed

Anyhow the OH persuaded me to give it a shot for a quick drink to shelter from the rain whilst we deliberated on a venue for dinner. I'm glad he did. In addition to a decent selection of craft beers, there's a hefty cocktail menu. I tried the Ginger Tom Collins & it hit the spot. Just the right amount of ginger to pack a punch but not enough to be overpowering. The OH had a pint of draft beer & seemed happy enough. The low ceiling means it gets noisy even if it's not packed. There was a stag do, 2 birthday parties and hen group as well as some other folks. It was only just possible to hold a convo at normal volume & be heard. There's a decent sized courtyard out the back too but it was too wet & cold to try it out. I'd definitely visit again but maybe on a week night when it might be a little less noisy.

We tried on our first week in Edinburgh and failed, but were able to make reservations 3 weeks out for our last night in Scotland, and we are glad we did. Pork cracklins were a bit hard and crunchy, but everything else was perfect. We had fresh bread and langostinis for starters, along with a smokey whiskey cocktail, the Smoked Indiscretion! For mains we enjoyed the poached Cod, and the Pork with Barley. Service was very good, and wine selection was extensive. Atmosphere was loud with music and locals' chatter in the bar below, but dark tables and heavy wood panels made it a perfect place for a couple celebrating 3 weeks of travel. But they call these lessons, "character building," apparently. No matter, the Devil's Advocate is worth the search. Located in an old Victorian pump house halfway up (or down) Advocate's Close, the Devil's Advocate is known for a killer whisky shelf of more than 300 different bottles from various distilleries across the Highlands, Lowlands, Speyside, Campbelltown, the Islands, and Islay. I finally sipped on a 15-year Tamdu that has convinced me to keep a bottle at home. Then there's the Clydeside 2024 Limited Edition Cask Strength that was wicked impressive. The bartenders are class at making and serving seasonal and regular cocktails that have their spin and character. My wife enjoyed gin-based cocktails such as the Clean Slate (with St-Germain, citrus, and sugar), Rose Garden (with Yellow Chartreuse, Cocchi Rosa, apple, lemon, and mint), and Bee's Knees (honey and lemon). I went full speed ahead with the scotch cocktails, which are essentially classics with a scotch-substituted twist. The Double Shot is an Espresso Martini with Dalmore 12 in addition to Kahlua, espresso, and demerara -- quite smooth without being too sweet. The Scotzia is a Negroni with Fettercairn 12, while the Boxcar is a Sidecar only with Aberfeldy 12. We enjoyed the bar for a few hours, watching the bartenders make magic while sipping on cocktails, while listening to 80s pop tunes. A great evening indeed.

A quick Google search later, we decided to add this to our "must visit while in Edinburgh" list. This wasn't our anniversary restaurant, of course, but we knew we needed to dine here at least once. It was a long walk from our hotel, but it was a nice way to see parts of the city that we wouldn't normally have gotten to. The restaurant itself is nestled in the basement (or downstairs) of a cute building. It's small in there, but they're very good at maximizing the space they're given. We settled in at a teeny-tiny table off to the side and swiftly ordered a couple of pints. The menu is very straightforward: you're either getting a meat and cheese plate, just a cheese plate, or pates. We decided to share the Mixed Meat & Cheese platter. We figured that we'd snack and drink some Scottish beer, then head off into the night to find our "real" dinner. Thing is, though, that combo platter filled us the heck up. The waitress came out with the meat and cheese plate and a box of bread, oatcakes and crackers, and my husband and I had a "where is all this going?" moment. But our pro-waitress dropped the plate on the table and popped the bread box into a shelf on the wall next to us - a shelf that neither of us ever even noticed, to be honest. The meat and cheese selections were delicious and paired really well together. Kind of hidden away on that shelf (holding the bread and oatcakes) were a couple chutney jars. That chutney - lots of fruit pieces and complex flavors - brought a lot to the cheeses. We really did love the food, the surroundings, the beer and the staff. I wish we had something like this back home.

The service was absolutely welcoming. The bartenders were friendly and attentive, and even at 9p, mid week (when you might expect things to be winding down), the place was comfortably busy but not packed, but full enough to feel alive. Drinks menus came in little "confidential" envelopes, which instantly added to the fun. We ordered several cocktails that evening, and every drink was carefully crafted and flavorful, smooth and topped off with warm hospitality. I honestly did not have one bad cocktail. If I were to highlight a few things from our night - I came away loving the atmosphere, the attention to detail, and the general ease at which we were treated which is exactly what I wanted out of a night out in Edinburgh. We were surprisingly the only ones in there around 9 pm on a Friday night, which we thought was odd (as did the bartenders), but it meant we got to hang out with them and shoot the shit (meeting bartenders from all over the world is one of my favorite hobbies). Besides the fact that both were into motorcycles (and one came to Edinburgh once and immediately backed up his bags and moved over from Italy - props), we found out that they could make a mean cocktail. We, of course, started on menu, but wanted to see if they could do any variations, which they not only did, but nailed: "do you like bitter or sweet" - bitter "Floral or not so much" - surprise me "base?" - gin Dunno what it was called, but it was one of the nicest gin drinks I had in a town that is crazy for gin at the moment.
