This place is definitely upscale with lots of delicious choices to fit anyone's palette: from seafood, to steaks, to pasta, to burgers, you can find just about anything here. I have been here many times with our family and I can honestly say I've never had a thing I didn't like. The most recent time we came, I had the vegan zoodle dish and it was great! Most places don't have something to fit my super limited dietary needs, but TOC did and it was very tasty. The managing of the restaurant has been the negative part in our experience. For example, we came this past Easter with our extended family (our yearly tradition we usually look forward to), we've had a reservation for weeks, and they weren't ready with our table for 15+ minutes after our reservation time, and especially with our group having two 88 year olds, it's not comfortable or safe to make them wait that long with no table seats. When they did seat us, they gave us 1 waitress for probably 25 people, when in years past they've given us 2-3 servers (and that worked great). The server we had was over and above nice and helpful, so none of it was her fault, it was just the restaurant planning side of things that was a disappointment. Our reservations were at 1, we didn't eat till almost 3. Almost 2 full hours to get our food. Granted, it was a holiday, so I didn't take off more stars for that, but that's never happened to us before and we all left with a metaphorical bad taste in our mouths. So hopefully this was just a bad day they had, and if it was, I'd for sure come back. But if that's the new normal, I don't think I would. read more

We arrived after driving almost 9 hours, and were hungry, thirsty and hungry. If you know what I mean?! Our server Tammy S. made everything easy peasy. We ordered a Pretzel Amber Ale from Generations Brewery, Freeport ILL and an Anti Hero IPA from Revolutionary Brewery, Chicago. Both beers were excellent choices for the Coconut Shrimp Appetizer and the Fish & Chips. Service was excellent. We didn't have a reservation and the hostess looked for a cancellation and was able to seat us. I had the quinoa crusted salmon served over spinach risotto with a red sauce. Came in for lunch with 8 people and was pleasantly surprised that we were done in an hour. Service was friendly and the food came out pretty quick. Everything tasted fresh. I got the soup of the day which was a cream of potato soup. It was pretty tasty and I liked the addition of mushrooms. My husband got the steak sandwich and I had a bite of it and it was also very good. The steak pieces were huge and tender. The bread was soft but the outside had a nice light crunch to it. It came with some thick cut fries and a pickle. I think that dish was around $20 or under and for that I thought it was a really good deal given the quality and quantity of the steak. In from out of town on business. Food was good, service was ok. Noticed the ceiling dripping something on me and my food. Pointed it out to server. She quickly took my plate away, which whereas I wasn't finished with my meal, I no longer had an appetite to eat any more. Server indicated she had made manager aware and that he should be out to address. Sat patiently but never saw manager or server again. They accepted pay and tip, but hid from issue and didn't apologize. If this is the type of restaurant you're looking for, stop in. I won't be back and don't recommend. read more

This is the best meal I've had all year. My son and I, being Canadian and not used to giant American portions, split a salmon stuffed with crabmeat and a salad. The fish was done to perfection and tasted fresh, which is quite a feet since we are a thousand miles from any ocean. My sister and I came here for dinner since the restaurant is located in the midst of clusters of hotel chains. It was so close, we could have walked to it. Upon entering we were greeted immediately and seated quickly. Our waitress was nice. I ordered Crab Cakes and the Salmon Quinoa. The salmon had no flavor whatsoever. Our first time here. We were here at lunch today. Heard good reviews. Waitress was nice and checked on us several times. But again we were the only customer until we left. Water was refilled frequently. We tried the scallop appetizer. Humongous scallop. Very tender. Seafood bisques comes with our entree were good. You actually see huge salmon chunks. Comes with crackers. Red snapper with risotto. Husband loves it. Risotto actually was good too. Then comes the ribeye I hear so much about. Tender it was Not. I ordered Medium. It was about well done. This was super disappointing to me. I came here for the steak. Photo attached. The side grilled veggies were delicious. Crème brûlée. Well, when you are traveling and forget it's a holiday and nothing else is open, this is where we ended up. The menu looked like it had potential, but taste and service left a lot to be desired. Our server was friendly, but ended up being really slow and once our food came, never checked in on us and we were done for some time and were waiting for our check for a while. Just glad we didn't have anywhere to be. Food...oh man. Drinks were syrupy sweet. Had a burger and blackened chicken sandwich and both were oh so salty, just this side of inedible. We were staying nearby and this place came up with the highest ratings around. Given all of the chains and spots with mediocre scores it wasn't a tough decision. It was pretty quiet on a Monday night. We were seated quickly in a booth. Our waitress Amy was super friendly and very efficient. After I ordered a beer we placed our orders. I was tempted to order the deep fried bacon but I refrained and got the chicken parm on linguini with a (very) small side salad. I would have preferred a thinner noodle but this was it. The dish was very good. My wife got the spinach salad with a piece of salmon on it and hot bacon dressing. She requested medium rare and it was medium rare. It's early Fall and their drink special was Apple Butter Old Fashioned. Never heard of such a thing but sounded perfectly delicious. It showcases apple cider and apple butter from local Edwards Apple Orchard. I liked the drink, which was dead perfect for fall. The apple butter not only added apple flavor but some of that apple butter spice! It was a little in the sweet side (but not cloying) which may be perfect for some, however I would have preferred slightly less sweetness or perhaps less apple cider/butter. FLATBREAD - This looked really good with tons of cheese. I didn't taste it, but drooled over coworker's plate. BLACKENED CHICKEN CARBONARA - This was good. It was not clear if the chicken comes blackened by default but this is how I asked for it to be prepared and I would recommend it this way! Chicken was a little salty. The carbonara was served as bow tie pasta. Normally the creamy sauce is a bit thicker and I found this to be a bit too thin/runny. read more

The pulled pork nachos were also ok, they did not impress me at all. The pork didn't taste much. In general, I think the restaurant is overpriced for the food it offers. My son's first dine-in experience went well. Due to allergy, he can't eat anything from the kid's menu. But the chef was able to adjust the Salmon & quinoa recipe to fit my son's dietary needs. The fact that he ate almost the entire fillet says everything about the taste. However, the quinoa crust is the weak spot of the dish. Instead of being crispy, the crust tasted like raw grain. The dish might have been better with salmon fillet sitting on top of cooked quinoa. The dish also comes with French Onion soup as a side. Service was nice Friday at 300pm and it was just about empty. Wasn't tress was friendly and helpful.. the atmosphere was pleasant and easy to have a conversation in. Food was presented nice but not impressed at all my husband had the 40 ribeye and it looked more like a small piece of chopped steak med well not what he ordered and no flavor at all. I ordered the cowboy salad and it looked great but was all lettuce the mushrooms were hard and steak was ok way too much blue cheese on it also. Had a good Bloody Mary from bar. Man, such a beauty of a place. I couldn't believe the service here!! After 3 years I finally got my 6 month allowance of 50 bucks for cleaning my mom and dads house every day straight, take care of the dog, and defend my dad from striking my mom into the nursing home kid! So I go in right away they throw me two cokes and three wise men, no thanks lady I'm single but straight. :) lol. The ladies asked me if they knew what was going on? I said no way kid you see that I'm finally free, well 5 mins In my mom ((after she got out of the nursing home bruised and battered with a doc at Swedes witnessing it and did nothing with my sister and I sitting there)) wanted me home to clean, so I walked home a long way! With a reservation hastily made only 20 hours ahead of the time, we reserved for a softball team and their parents. Two of the players were celebrating their sweet 16 amid a softball tournament (less than ideal). Tavern on Clark presented the birthday girls with beautifully presented birthday treats and everyone ate well with plentiful offerings all tasting delicious! We had gluten and peanut allergies and both were handily accommodated. The drink menu really good to boot. I was out to dinner celebrating my mom's birthday and quite enjoyed this restaurant. I believe our server was Jennifer and she was great! I had a sangria which was good. We got the crab cakes appetizer. The prices have gone up since someone posted the menu, since it was $14. It only came out with 2 large crab cakes, but they were tasty, and the aioli sauce was really good! I got the surf and turf with Scallops. It only came with 2 Scallops so I think I might have just preferred a larger filet but the steak was very good! I got it with a Bleu cheese crust. The Parmesan potatoes looked delicious but weren't that great. We ordered a turtle cheesecake for dessert. Yum! Plus they brought out a free birthday ice cream with a singing candle. It was an enjoyable dining experience that I would repeat again if I'm back in Rockford. The booth was a bit of a tight fit for me, but everything else about the restaurant was nice. read more
