Wow what a little gem. The pizza was excellent and their drinks are even better! I would love to see their terasse next time. They don't take reservations so there was a bit of a wait time and this was on a Wednesday night so expect to wait a bit. Service was good even if they were incredibly busy.

Nice place for drinks. The food is ok. We had the kale and Parc pizza. The falafel and olives. And the Greek and cesar salad.

You walk in and there's a clothing store on one side and black curtains straight ahead. I just stood there confused for a second until someone suddenly appeared and escorted me through the curtains, down a long dark hallway, and into this intimate, dimly lit bar. Turns out, I had accidentally stumbled into a speakeasy. The space is tiny--maybe 6-8 seats at the bar and a long banquet along the wall for 10-12 more people. No menus either. They ask what you like and don't like, then craft a cocktail specifically for you. The pours are generous and the bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor. About a drink and a half in, I realized I needed actual food immediately and had to leave. The staff was friendly, personable, and chatty, and because the space is so intimate, you naturally end up talking with the people around you. Definitely more of a solo or date-night spot than a group hang. Such a cool, unexpected experience.

I'm a fan of cocktail bars, and after reading up on this spot I made it my intention to check it out. It just so happened that it was a short walk from my hotel, so we decided to check it out one night before heading to dinner. The Cloakroom is a speakeasy, nestled behind a hidden door in a men's clothing shop. In the line of being a speakeasy, the space is small - there are only 24 seats but since we got there right at opening we were seated right away. The space is dark and intimate, with the bottles of liquor lit up behind the bar providing an attractive focal point. One of the more unique features of the bar is that there's no menu; we told our server the types of liquors we wanted along with the flavor notes and they crafted a cocktail based on our tastes. We ultimately had two rounds; my first drink was vodka-based and fruity, while I went with something gin-based and dryer. Both were very good - there's little fanfare with presentation; the bartenders let the drinks speak for themselves. Service was great; due to the setup, each patron is given extra attention which really highlighted the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at The Cloakroom Bar. This was definitely a unique experience with excellent curated drinks. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Montreal.

Always explaining the dishes to us and making sure our water was refilled or if we wanted any other drinks. They always change their menu every 2-3 months so that their menu is always changing constantly. We got the 9 course tasting menu and it was worth every single penny. Make sure to book in advance so that way you can ensure you have a table. Overall will come again with friends and family. Also one of the cons of fine dining is that typically it takes so long to receive the next dish. I think we received a new dish every 10-15 minutes and if they saw us finished with one they were already preparing the next one to be served.

We've eaten at many Michelin starred restaurants and I think Alma would easily net itself 1 or 2 stars in most cities, if not for one thing: their absolutely terrible wine pairings. We ate there recently and they served 10 back to back orange wine/macerations in a row. A couple were interesting and well paired, but most were just "ok" and having this many back to back just makes you wish for a balanced red or a crisp white to break things up. It felt like a wine pairing from someone that doesn't actually like or understand wine and so just thinks anything "funky" or "natural" is somehow better. We love the food and will be back, but until they resolve this we'd never get the pairing again. Hope they mix things up going forward! Five stars if they resolve this one thing!

We were greeted by the barman as we entered, who seated us and explained their cocktails and the menu. He was very friendly. I normally don't go for cocktails cause I feel that it's all ice and juice, but these were incredible! I had the Mexito, which I highly recommend and it's not too sweet and my friends had the Berry Nice and Peach Plz which they equally loved. We started with their variety plate that included their famous guacamole (it's famous for a reason), quesadillas, bacon wrapped jalapeno peppers and stuffed croquettes (my personal favorite). We then tried the tacos! Omg their tacos! We had beer battered fish tacos (they've won best Montreal tacos in the past), Jack Daniels marinated beef tacos (my favorite), chicken and pineapple tacos and their homemade chorizo tacos. We wanted dessert, but didn't have room, so we'll just have to come back. I got to meet the chef/owner. He was very kind and we got to hear his story. Born and raised in Mexico city, he brings authenticity, fresh ingredients in his kitchen and you taste it in every bite. If you've never been, you should definitely go and let me know when so I can meet you there!

I got a Paloma and my colleague got a Mezcal tester which came with 3 different shots. I can't remember the names of them all but one of them was casamigos. The first time, the music was extremely loud, and it seemed like they were short-staffed. The bar was completely packed, and there was only one bartender making drinks, so the wait was a bit longer than expected. We decided to give it another try, and I'm so glad we did. The second visit was amazing! The bartender working that night was incredible--she clearly knows her craft and made our drinks quickly without sacrificing quality. Every cocktail was delicious, and the overall experience was much more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend The Coldroom. My only suggestion would be that, with a space that busy, the bar could really benefit from having an additional bartender during peak hours. It would help keep wait times down and make an already great experience even better.
