We had our taxes done today, and Patricia was the wonderfully competent, efficient, and friendly person with whom we met! All COVID precautions were firmly implemented- temperature taken, plexiglass partitions in place, masks worn, and hand sanitizer all around. Everyone was so very kind, friendly, and helpful. We even received a goodie bag of very useful items on our way out. I really appreciated the positive atmosphere and being treated so kindly. With these uncertain times, it's always nice to encounter any kind of humanity! read more

Terrible experience. We found our later the only have two Enrolled Agents, and do "in house" training for the rest of the employees. The tax preparer, Yvonne, was disorganized and and confused. I had the files and worksheets in order, she took them from me and them in piles on her already loaded desk top. She didn't know why labor and cost of materials were listed separately. I explained that labor was deducted in the year it was done and material was depreciated over time. She couldn't understand why we didn't have 1099 for rental income and I kept telling her that we managed our rentals and couldn't issue a 1099 to ourselves. She finally said she was out of time and would finish the return that night. When we picked up the tax return, it was full of errors. She had listed the income twice on one property. We went back showed her the errors, she argued and finally agreed to correct the forms. We made our third trip to the office to pick up the "corrected" forms. They still weren't right so I called and said I wanted to speak to the owner/manager. I was told she was with a client and would call us back. She went over the return and found seven errors before she called us. They had to file an amended return, we made our fourth trip to the office. We had told her we wanted auto pay set up for 2023 estimated taxes and 2022 refunds carried forward to pay estimated taxes. We found out she hadn't done that when we got checks for 2022 overpayment. read more

I did some research on tax preparers in the area for my BF (since his taxes were a bit more complicated than mine this year). It was between Tax Factory and the Werner Group. BF procrastinated but was able to get an appointment with Cynthia at the Tax Factory pretty much right away (vs 2 weeks at Werner). So he booked his appointment. The day of we brought all the paperwork, met with Cynthia, and she went to work getting his taxes done. We were done within the hour and he knew how much he was going to get back before leaving. It ended up costing him $200 but it was worth it in the long run (as he and I did not want to try and figure his taxes out!) read more

I LOVE the Tax Factory!! Sylvia has worked with my mom, on her personal AND small-business taxes, for decades! For years, I thought I could manage doing my own taxes, but now that I'm officially in the "adult league," I'm happy Sylvia was able to accept me as her client. I would not recommend this place for first time home buyers. We had a lot of questions and the person that did our paperwork seemed to be frustrated with us asking questions, did not seem to care about their job and the preparation price doubled after we came back with extra papers without explaining on our first visit how much it might be. We ended up using another company and the tax return was doubled as well. read more

Worst company to go to! Yolanda did my taxes. She first gave me back my file without making copies for the office. So i had to bring the file back for her to make copies and not get in trouble. She and the owners both were telling me i had health insurance all last year when i did not. I then googled what 2A meant on the health insurance form and it stated that the employer did not carry health insurance. So i was then doing her job. Telling her that in fact, no i did not have health insurance. I have someone else's refund in my bank account and they are telling me the bank should've never accepted it. Wow! I had one owner asking me if i wanted a refund. That wasn't the intention of my phone call but after she brought it up, i said that would be nice but also i would like for my taxes to be done right! Not 10 min later, the other owner is calling me stating she's not giving me a refund, arguing with me and ended up hanging up on me! This is all over them messing up on MY taxes! Lol so unprofessional! read more

We bought a house last year in December and being new to this area and not familiar with any tax preparer this place was recommended to us. We met with Linda. She had a flat affect the entire ten to fifteen minutes she spent with us. She hardly spoke or explained anything to us. In the end she said "My fee is $200 and you owe $7,400." I was so upset I wanted to cry and had to go outside as my husband paid her fee. I ranted on Facebook about our experience and a coworker of mine who had read my rant recommended I get a second opinion with her tax preparer in Antioch. This guy agreed to meet with me on Easter Sunday. He spent an hour and a half with us going through all of our paperwork. He found several things that were left out and was able to get the amount owed down to $3,000. He also explained how we should be filing and what things we can write off that we didn't know about. He didn't charge us for this but he will be filling an amendment for us this Saturday and for that we are paying him. He is a bit pricey but you figure he is doing triple the amount of work by fixing her mistakes, and filling the amendment so he is worth it. I am so relieved my coworker recommended him to us and we will be doing our taxes with him next year as well. This was a hard and an expensive lesson learned. read more
