At that point we bought a business and since we had to switch to a new accountant we figured we would just use the firm who did the accounting and taxes for the prior owner. I have been coming to Tax Masters for three years, and I couldn't be happier with my experience every year. I purchased my first home a couple years ago and needless to say I was very stressed and not sure what to expect come tax time. I was introduced to Preston when I arrived and informed that he would be doing my taxes for me. Preston was so laid back that we spent the first hour and a half just shooting the breeze. When it came time to crunch the numbers this is really where tax masters shined. He knew every little detail to taxes like the back of his hand and was able to rattle off my taxes in less then thirty minuets. He was able to explain my return for me to so well I didn't even have a question I ask him. Upon leaving I'm provided with my printed return bound and on cd. After a couple years of being a client of tax masters now their excellent tax software allows them to quickly populate my taxi forms for the current year saving a great deal of time. Tax masters is my go to for taxes. I always wait til the last minute with my taxes and I have a complicated return. Kariem who helped me was able to squeeze me in his schedule and walked me through it and explained to me the whole process. He was very thorough and made sure he was able to get me the most refund possible. I was also in a rush but he took care of the filing and emailed me all the paperwork to sign with details to pay my Virginia taxes. Theresa at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming when I walked in and offered me coffee or tea and even some yummy donuts (Duck Donuts - yum). Although I was there a day before taxes were due and I'm sure that's a very stressful day, I didn't feel any tension in the office at all. I've used Tax Masters for almost 10 years now, and I like their services. My CPA is always giving me extra time and attention, and their back office and support staff is definitely on the ball. The place is professional, responsive, and friendly. I liked them so much that I started bringing my family and friends as clients, and they've all been satisfied with the service. If you're in any real estate-related fields, these guys are ideal providers, because that is their specialty. However, they handle all sorts of business types quite professionally. Just saying that if you're in a real estate related field, or own any real estate, then these guys are definitely your go-to provider. Each of the CPA's and financial consultants have their own clientele, but they do behave as a firm in that they share resources and cooperate with one another quite smoothly. I recommend this tax firm for individuals, self-employed people, as well as business owners. I'm not sure they're really keen on doing payroll (you may want to use Paychex or ADP for that), but I'm sure they have the capability to do it if they wanted to do it. read more

Tax masters came to my wife soliciting business in hind sight I should have realized if they were as good as they claimed they wouldn't need to be out recruiting from the start I didn't feel they were in control they shuffled us from one office to another they were not ready for us when we arrived even though we called to let them know we were getting close as we came from quit a distance. Then when we actually got down to preparing our taxes things got really bad they were not able to finish our return in time so we filed an extension this being the first time in my life I have ever had to do that we came down to the final day left to file on our extension and they still were not prepared so I took a day off work and hand delivered the checks to there office as they still had not supplied us with a return. They failed to get the return off in time and one check never cleared which leads me to believe it was misplaced in the mountains of paper I saw on the desks that day. This was three years ago and I still receive notices of late fees from the Feds and state thanks to them. I also believe they gave me bad financial advice as too how to allocate retirement monies to alleviate tax liability they told me they would reimburse me for the late fees due to there cause but it never materialized I just hope people read this and decide to maybe use a different company read more

I recently filed my taxes here and payed a lot of money to get it done and I thought the service was NOT worth the money. Not only was the person hard to reach when I needed them most but an error on their part resulted in a failed payment to the IRS and to the state of MD. There was no follow up on their part so I had to do it myself and that is how I found out there was a problem because I was wondering why no payment had been taken out. After speaking to the IRS I knew what the problem was and it came from incorrect information that was given (which I know did not come from me because it was for a different state all together). When I contacted them there was no offer to help resolve the problem or an apology, and so I ended up doing it myself despite paying for a service. Even after fixing the problems before the April 15 deadline, because of the initial error other problems came about and I received notices from both the IRS and Maryland comptroller regarding the issues and had to spend a whole afternoon on the telephone and on hold fixing them. I will now have to drive to one of the offices in Maryland as well to fix what was caused by the first error because I can not do it over the phone. In the end, this ended up being a bigger headache than it was worth. I had never used a CPA before and I won't again unless it is a referral from someone who has used them before. I wasn't going to write a review but after the experience I have had, and not hearing back from the TaxMaster office to help me with all the current problems, I decided to go the long way around and do this all by myself. In the end VERY disappointed in the overall service especially since it started so well. It seems follow up and customer satisfaction with overall service is not a priority. read more

STAY AWAY FROM TAX MASTERS!!! We saw a segment of Linda de Marlor on TV promoting her tax services. Scheduled a meeting with her to discus our tax preparation strategies and were promised to work with professionals and they gave a guarantee that if something goes wrong, they will take us through every step of the way to make it right. That was the only time when we saw Linda. She handed us over to Stephen Bradford (Steve). Then when a problem arose he was difficult to get a hold off. Linda would always be out of the office and refer us to Steve, or her son Preston. After two years of going back and forth, they came back and said it was not their fault and taxes have to be redone and they would charge additional money for it or I can just go somewhere else. Then I found out that they only issue was that I needed to submit additional documents to IRS to resolve the problem. Tax Masters do not care about their customers, they are looking for an easy customer and charge them a lot of money. With us, they did not look for a simpler solution, they wanted to make sure to blow the problem into something more than it is and charge more money for it. If they get resistance, they toss you out. read more
