So much good... I just want to spread the word! Tax Season is over, so I guess I missed the mark on getting this out before then, but you never know who's eye I might catch. Picture it... Sicily... 1954... No, but really... Picture it... My mailbox 2017... A letter from the IRS... Informing me that I had not properly filed my 2015 taxes - Goofed a key figure thinking I had it all covered with H&R Block at Home Software... Several phone calls and hundreds of dollars later the problem is fixed. Traumatized by my error and not wanting to repeat it, I turned to Yelp to find someone who would be able to assist me with my 2017 tax filings. As well as hire someone who would not charge me exorbitant rates as H&R Block offices had in the past. I narrowed it down to 3 companies based solely on gut and 5 star ratings. A few reviews later, I called 2 companies only to be told that they were booked for the season. Third call brought me to the TaxGuru... the associate I spoke with on the phone was very kind and answered all of my questions, as well as confirmed availability for new clients. I scheduled my appointment for the next week and hoped for the best. Upon arriving in the office I was greeted by the same associate I had spoken with on the phone and invited into the warm and welcoming office space. Natalie assured me that she would be with me shortly and escorted me to her desk a few moments later. I sat down, Natalie and I chatted a bit about how I came to find TaxGuru, I handed over my documents and before I knew it, my taxes were done. This by far, compared to any other experience I've EVER had, was the most enjoyable I've ever had getting my taxes filed. Natalie was extremely pleasant and patient, answering all of my general tax questions and those concerning past angst with the IRS. I thanked her for her services and departed to enjoy the rest of my afternoon. Settling back in at home, I moved to file away my 2017 returns and had the thought to check my 2016 taxes (Foolishly Done at Home on My Own) for any errors. Having sat down with Natalie only an hour before and reviewing the error I had made on my 2015 taxes, I soon realized that I had made the same mistake with my 2016 taxes. Knowing I now had a wonderful tax expert to call on for help - I quickly called the office back to inquire about amendments. Natalie let me know she would be happy to take a look and let me know what could be done to rectify the error. Thinking this would need to happen via another appointment on another day, I was pleasantly surprised when Natalie welcomed me back into the office just 15 minutes later. Oh... I walk back into the office with my 2016 taxes, which Natalie reviews and informs me of several things - One: Yes, I had failed to report correctly. Two: I had not actually taken proper deductions for the income that I had earned that year. All of this resulted in an amendment that would actually bring me additional returns over what I had received in 2017. Given that I wasn't expecting to file an amendment that day, Natalie was happy to hold onto my paperwork, prepare, and file upon payment at a later date. I called a few weeks later with payment and that was that. Before I forget: Natalie and her team were upfront about all the pricing questions I asked. I don't use credit cards and budget for anything and everything that I purchase. So when I requested pricing for both current year filing services and the amendment Natalie and her team were happy to discuss pricing with me. Payment was simple and easy. Like I said... So much good... I am telling all the people I can. TaxGuru is a trustworthy, enjoyable, and dependable place to get your taxes done. Oh, and as I told Natalie... I'm NEVER doing my own taxes again. Excellent experience with Natalie. Ok, so I hate the IRS but I really don't fool around when it comes to taxes. This year I needed a professional because the online tax program I used was not applying my exemptions correctly and it looked like I owed (yikes! blood pressure spiking here). Been using Turbo Tax for the last 4 years. But last year there was a problem with my federal return so I decided to have a professional do them this year. I decided to give TaxGuru a try, which I'm glad I did, they help me file my 2018 federal and state no problem. I was so happy with the results, that I came back a few weeks later to see if they could help file my 2017 federal return. Sure enough they were able to e file it and help me. Only minor issues I had was I was charged more to file my 2017 federal return not including 2017 state since I had already done it the year before. Compared to what they charged me to file both my state and federal for 2018. And the owner has to approve the file so if she is busy with another client you kinda have to wait so she can check what her assistant did. Other then that very happy! Thank you read more

For the past couple of years, I've found myself being dubious as to which tax preparer I'd be filing with, and every year i went to a different tax office, feeling like a nomad. My tax advisor of 15+ years decided to abruptly retire this year, so it left me in a bad spot, after being unable to contact him for 3+ months. Anyway, I turned to my always dependable "Yelp" and it didn't let me down. Tax Guru was rated a 5-star with no negative comments, so I gave it try. Even though it was late in the tax season, Natalie was able to take me on as a new client. She was very thorough asking questions about deductions that I wasn't even aware of, nice clean office, a little further away from me that I would like, but who cares if you need to drive 45 mins once a year on a nice Sunday morning. She did us a great service, although she was a bit more pricey (around $400) than my previous guy (around $200), but still ... going to a Tax Preparer as knowledgeable as Natalie gives you peace of mind and you know all of your preparations are accurate, unlike the Liberty, HR Block and others who normally hire and train people for a single tax season, so I know better than to go that route--you seldom see anything positive about those types of companies. Natalie was able to take me on a weekend which is always better for me and her shopping center even has a band playing on Sunday for brunch, so you can enjoy the music bleeding in (smile), although she's moving in the future, so this will no longer be an option. Like many people I've used TurboTax to file my taxes for years. This year,however,we had a bit of a complicated situation and it looked like I was going to be paying way more money than made sense.
