They emailed us on the afternoon of Friday, April the 11th, saying that they would not be able to get our taxes completed by the deadline on the 15th, and recommended we be sure to just pay to the IRS what we owed for taxes last year. I had 1 personal return with 2 states and received a bill for $995 with no detail, postmarked May 20th but dated April 30th and saying that a late charge will be assessed if not received by the end of the month. I called on May 29th and left a message with the receptionist to get a call back about the bill, but never received a call back. I called back again on June 6th and explained my frustration on getting such a bill and the bill was adjusted down to $700. I am not returning back still as this is the highest I've paid for my taxes. The first version of my return was missing a deduction that we discussed and I said that I would be taking (SEP IRA contribution). Once I spoke to them, they did fix it, but that makes me wonder what else was missed on my return.
