I smiling face greet me, which is me happy Thanksgiving, and after a short transaction I am ready to go on my way. I took a moment to tell her that I used to help manage a Blockbuster Video (RIP) and on occasion I would need to work holidays. Customers would come in and say, "they made you work today?" I would cringe and think to myself very privately, "yes, because people like you had to come in." I told her, "thank you for working today so the people like me can come in." So yes, I lift my glass to all of the gas stations and services who have workers who graciously give their time on holidays for customers like me. And more specifically, this Thanksgiving I am thankful for this small town gas station with friendly faces, well-stocked shelves, and in being open on holidays, employees who are willing to inconvenience themselves to make a convenience store convenient for me.

First thing to know, Downtown Omaha is kind of a grocery store desert - or at least that was the impression I got from my visit. We were travelling with our toddler and while I KNOW she should be 100% off bottles, we are picking our fights and she still enjoys one with her milk in the morning and in the evening. That being said, we only brought two bottles and planned on cleaning them as we went. Our only problem was we forgot dish soap. After asking the front desk where would be the easiest place to find some they recommended Cubby's and they were right! While you pay convenience store prices, it was easy to pick up what we needed and they had a few options which was nice. The store itself has a good variety of food, snacks, odds and ends, and likely serves as a little grocer for anyone who lives nearby. I wouldn't say I loved this place so much I would definitely return, but I will say it was clean, had what we needed, and was conveneint, which really was about all I could ask for in a nearby convenience store.

There is no reason for this woman to be so rude the way she is. She will even watch me and any passengers in my car with me from inside while we are at the pump as if we are doing something wrong..... every time I have been here and this woman is working this happens.. I called over on christmas Eve to make sure they were open beings i was almost out of gas and had to drive 14 miles there and she was completely rude about the fact that they are open 24 hours etc etc etc.. I avoid going into this location at all expenses. I have even almost run out of gas to avoid having to deal with this woman. Somebody should really get rid of this woman. I cannot believe speedee mart even employs somebody that is so rude for absolutely no reason at all. Normally we stop at Casey's when in town, but we got here at midnight and Casey's was closed. Terribly thirsty, we needed to get something to drink and this was the only place open. The employee clearly did not want to be here. And with NO Covid precautions, we didn't either. We will not be back and will be warning others to steer clear too.

It's in the Brandeis Building, and to not distract from the majesty, the signage is kept small and vague, so you may not realize the Dollar General goodness available here. I usually find them well stocked, moderately clean and with boxes of of merch waiting to be stocked. The staff feels hurried and disinterested. This store is a refreshing upgrade. Worst pharmacy I've ever dealt with…read more 100% of the time they are "sorry but running behind" and they often kick your prescription to some bulk filling center making it a day or two delayed. I only use them because they are my insurance preferred and anywhere else will cost me more. Avoid this pharmacy if at all possible. They are so bad I'm hoping that they are on the closing list this year!

The gluten-free crust is only in the small size, and with the abundant toppings, half a pizza is just fine for one person. That's especially good since gluten-free is more expensive. Well worth it, though. And much better than Dominos. Just wish Casey's didn't have gambling so prominently a part of their business now. One whole side of windows is taken up with gambling machines.
