I visited The Amp for an R&B fundraising event. The venue is quite comfortable (bring your chair and sit on the lawn). From my seat, I could see the stage and hear without interruption. There were venue seats, but they looked cramped, and more than half were empty. Closer to the stage, on the right, there were 4-person tables set up. All of the seating is in the hot sun, so come prepared. I brought a hat with a wide brim, which kept me sane mentally, but I still felt a lot of sweat running down my face and back. This is to be expected at an outdoor festival in the blazing sun. With proceeds donated from each ticket sold, the $10 + tax for a bottle of water in 80+ degree heat was too much. With alcohol on sale, patrons should have had access to water at a more reasonable price, e.g., $2. I won't attend their next event. However, I look forward to attending another music event at The Amp, as other reviews report many more food trucks and vendors. I purchased food from the first truck I visited. I ordered a steak flatbread, and it was delicious. The price ($20) was on point. Sadly, the few food trucks on site couldn't sell any liquids or water. I had to endure my 3-hour stay with one bottle of water. There were only a few vendors, so it wasn't much of a shopping trip for me. The women's restroom was clean, and an attendant was on duty, a plus on a hot day. Parking wasn't much of a problem. The area is excellent for entertainment, with a plethora of restaurants and bars. This made for congested parking at the venue. I parked in one of the recommended garages, and it was a short walk to the festival (less than 10 minutes, depending on pace).

Grassy knoll to relax and enjoy!

My first show since moving here and very happy! The outdoor space is great. A cool grassy knoll to watch the band with bars right there for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Beach chairs encouraged, and room to dance if you're feeling the vibe. Bartender was friendly and quick. Already planning on my next show.

    Turnpike Troubadors

We love this new venue! We saw the Turnpike Troubadors here this past weekend and had the absolute best time. The venue itself is the perfect location right near a bunch of restaurants and the new OMB location. I thought the security and entry process was organized. There were several food trucks set up inside to enjoy before the show. The sun sets behind the stage and since it was a little cloudy, the sky was absolutely beautiful. We had lawn seats and there is a great view of the stage from any angle. They have a few kinks to iron out as to be expected. They ran out of alcohol and bottled waters pretty early on. The bathrooms are not nearly big enough to accommodate 4,500 people and they needed more port a johns. Otherwise, we love this spot and can't wait to enjoy events here for years to come!

Venue space in front of stage

Here enjoying the Charlotte International Arts Festival festivities! Plenty of room and spacing available! The space is surrounded by a fence, so anyone can't just walk up at any time. I would assume events have to be planned and scheduled. No actual seating provided. This is definitely a BYOS (bring your own seating) type of outdoor venue spacing. The turf grassy area in front of the stage is tiered into 4-6 large platformed levels, which helps everyone be able to see performances on stage equally On the day i went: potter pottys = bathrooms Food trucks = food catering Parking can be found for FREE either directly onsite at The Amp or a little further up the road at the Campbell Snacks building parking lot

It's warm! Bring sunscreen and a portable fan.

We would check every time we made our way back home, but they are always BOOKED & BUSY!!!! I'm telling you book ahead of time. Upon arrival, we walk into the front lobby entrance, immediately greeted by the concierge. She directs us to the spa area. We walk inside and the aromatherapy alone just soothes my spirit wholeheartedly. They give a warm welcome and checks us in right away. No time is wasted at all! They give us instructions that we follow accordingly. We go to our separate areas to change out into our spa attire. Again, greeted respectfully and given any and everything we would need for our day of rejuvenation. The entire facility was very clean and organized. Not one thing was out of place! The bathrooms had complimentary hygienes, etc for use. The service requested was the 80 minutes couples massage! Our service was scheduled later on in the evening, but we decided to come hours earlier to enjoy all the complimentary areas in the spa such as the steam rooms, saunas, workout room, whirlpools, pools, patio areas w/ mimosas, etc. If you're going to have a spa day why not experience everything? We ended up on the patio first to have our first complimentary beverage. We sat outside and enjoyed the exquisite views for a while before heading to the jacuzzi for a dip! After 2-3 whirlpool sessions we laid out in the beach chairs inside and ordered food from the Gallery(this is an option that the spa provides all guests). All the workers were spectacular. Any worker that came by they would ask did we need anything and constantly asking would you like a complimentary beverage! Heyyyyyy, why not? Couples Massage: 1000/10 literally! I truly enjoyed the massage thoroughly. The ladies we were given were fabulous. They did exactly what needed to be done! They weren't shy to the touch like some massage therapist are. They were focused and had all their equipment ready to go from the very beginning. We Weill be booking here each and every time we plan a trip home. We are forever clients.

TL;DR: Beds not good, parking pain to depart, check in long wait. Positives indoor pool, afternoon…read moretea, gallery restaurant and spa. Not planning on returning unless for tea or brunch at gallery. I've now stayed here twice within 10 months. Both times I've found the staff quite kind and helpful. The rooms clean and as depicted. Hotel and grounds very well maintained. Love the walkability to restaurants and bars. Room Beds are not up to a luxury hotel standards. I found both beds to be a springy mattress with a worn out pillow top. Quite literally a pain on the back. Bedding is Frette and quite soft and cozy. Bathroom has Molton Brown products. Super bougie brand so I think that is on par with the hotel being luxury. I bring my own shampoo and conditioner because of my 3A curly hair doesn't get along with the shampoo and conditioner. Both the water pressure and hot levels are exceptional. I was not lacking warm water and did actually turn it a bit cooler than my usual setting at home. So I've a bit of a bone to pick on the minibar. There is a listed price for all the items. Great! Was a bit surprised on the bill to find the $3 can of soda and $18 container of dark sea salt chocolates to be listed as $3.99 and $22.41. That's more than the sales tax in Mecklenburg. Upon reading the fine print on the minibar there is a 24% service fee on top of the 8.25% sales tax. Given that the minibar is stocked and no one is running this items to the room like room service, I'm a bit confused on the service charge as anything but a small additional little money grab. Little sneaky and tacky vibes about it. Gallery restaurant I have written a separate 5 star review and very much so like the restaurant. Afternoon tea Afternoon tea I absolutely love and greatly enjoy. Lovely tea and tiered plate selections. This is a must for me, absolutely love it. I've attended with my partner as well as solo. Solo I sat and read a book it was great! Even if traveling solo still a lovely nice experience! Parking I think the price of parking has changed. It is now $20 to self park and $30 to valet. This is all clear on the app and website before booking. Spouse was understandably less than thrilled when he walked out to the car with all our luggage, loaded the car and began to drive to the hotel to pick me up only to be locked into the parking lot. The room key card that opens this parking was deactivated apparently at check out time. Well no one wants to be schlepping around in muggy hot weather at noon to come back to the hotel and find out why it isn't working. He had to have the card reactivated, then walk back to the car, then bring the car up. Waste of time and irritation. Hotel common space I found all common and public spaces clean and tidy. Both elevators have been working, in good service and clean. There is a complimentary coffee and tea station in the bar space in the morning. They also have some grab and go items for purchase. I made tea and drank it on the veranda. None of the grab and go items spoke to me so I went to the gallery restaurant. Spa I've been to the spa last trip and enjoyed my facial and massage. Mani pedi was ok... women's spa space has a sauna and steam room. A quiet waiting area with teas and water. Showers, restrooms and a locker space. Indoor pool Love that they have an indoor and outdoor pool. Super easy for me to get burned so I use the indoor ones. The interior space is quite lovely at the interior pool. A few notes of items needing attention. The rectangular hot tub has quite a thick layer of scrum on the tiles above the water level. Requested additional pillows when checking in ahead of time on the app. Those were not in the room and I had to request them. If you want a tea kettle in room you've to request that and tea. Wish it was easier in app or pre check in to do. I am not sure that we will be back anytime soon as I don't find their beds comfy and relaxing. Hotel, amenities, afternoon tea and brunch overall I like. I wish they would join other properties that had a memory foam type bed with a more firm supportive with slats. Rather than springy mattress on a box spring.

Our server, Lily, was a delight and gave us great recommendations. The manager also was amazing and she came over with drinks and good conversation. Even the chef came out and talked to us about the dishes which gave us a chance to praise him and the kitchen for a delicious array of dishes. First, note that the menu is so cute and on iPads. The drinks range from inventive seasonal cocktails to classics. We opted for some light summery flavors and ordered a couple rounds of the watermelon spicy margarita, blackberry cocktail, a mojito and French 75's. We all raised our glasses to the bartender for her skills. For food we went straight to the tapas menu and that was the 2nd best decision we made that day.
