a drink and a laptop on a bar

Haven't been here in a while. It's a bigger bar with games and plenty of seating. There are multiple small rooms with different games and seating options. It's located in the south end, so parking can be a hassle. We didn't need to pay to get in, but they do have bouncers at the door checking IDs. This is definitely a spot to go if you want to play a few games, lounge, or just sit at the bar and drink. They have multiple TVs, so they do play the games. Overall, it's not a bad place to go and chill and catch up with friends. Nothing too different or spectacular with this place, though. Normal bar scene and crowd. I wouldn't mind coming again if in the area.

There was maybe 3 people in the whole bar on Saturday. I pulled up a chair I saw on the side of the bar next to the pool table to sit near friends playing. The security guard came over & took my seat after 2 hours & said this can't be here. Such a great sports bar who agrees?

I love the open area, plenty of tv's to watch games as well as the pool tables and ping pong tables but the drinks need work. Located right beside the light rail in Charlotte's South End, Slate is joined by many other restaurants and bars. Slate is a prime time location filled with tv's that's a great hang out to watch sports and get some, well mediocre, drinks. The staff at Slate was really cool.

I traveled from an hour away to visit Slate for the first time. I checked their website to make certain they were open (COVID). The site listed open business hours (5-12am). I still wanted to be 100% certain, so I called their number. It rang, no one answered, an automated response picked up and stated varying information, yet nothing indicative of pandemic closure. I also double checked the Facebook page listed for Slate, it gave corresponding Intel. I parked at the 495 Lynx station, took the train to Bland Street, walked a block and they were definately closed. Buzz killed, sunshine stolen, parade rained on. Update something. Please?

We went here to see the McGregor fight. It is that typical sports bar scene with alot of Tvs and packed when there is some event going on. So glad we got there two hours before the fight was one because when we left around 12:30 am, there was a massive line to get in! Definitely come early if you don't want to wait. We arrived around 10 pm on a Saturday.

This is the go to for sports games! There is no question this is the go to for The Panthers home games! Mixed crowd, hip hop music, restaurants directly next door if you're hungry. A few more within walking distance! The club side is always so packed! I can't give 4 stars for that -- they can't help that they're so popular!

One of a few bars before the crowd really packed it in.

One of the top game day destinations this place is at its best on NFL Sundays especially if the Panthers are in town. You'll see nearly every football team fan base represented and the whole thing feels like one giant party. Luckily they have the space to support such a crowd with multiple bars both inside and out. On a quieter night you can come here to enjoy their large variety of games including ping pong and pool. Sometimes this place can be a bit too "clubby" for my tastes and the crowds can be overwhelming at times. Still this is undeniably a fun place to be so next Sunday throw on your jersey and join the party!

The fried cheese sticks were great! The size is perfect and they pair well with marinara. We went (group of 9) around 5pm and by the time we left at maybe 7:30, it was just filling up. Didn't partake in the games or billiards so cannot speak on that, but our waitress at the bar was attentive and the guy out front helped set us up on WiFi. Good service, plenty of space, right off the blue line, have to try it again.

This place is pretty chill. You can come here for game night, drinks, fun and just a good vibe. Love the music and the bartenders are good too!

The service was just as great as the food. Our server constantly ensured we were enjoying our meal. The calamari and Brussel sprouts were a great start. The calamari had the perfect crunch and flavor. The Brussel sprouts made me wish I could have them as an appetizer weekly. The short rib was so tender and delicious. We came in at a time when it wasn't really busy, but it took forever for our server to come around. Ordered two glasses of red and the cheese plate only to be told after we received the wine that there was no charcuterie -- at all. Not a "need to substitute" or "we're missing one of the items" just completely 86ed. Despite being prominently featured at the top of the menu! Since we already had our wine, we had to order something else. I went with the cheese sticks, and my mom ordered a hamburger based on what the table next to us had. When she got her burger though, despite us ordering the same as the table next to us, it was a completely different burger. She ate it anyway and my cheese sticks were okay for pub food. But overall, a really disappointing experience based on what we expected. And we had to hunt down the server to pay so we could get back to the conference on time.
