    Flat white perfection
    Gemma B.

Lovely place, lovely produce, lovely people! That sums it up really. ...but honestly, Tea Hive is a little gem on this equally heavenly stretch of high street. Although they specialise in loose leaf tea the owners obviously put the same amount of love and attention into everything they source (locally) and produce, as the flat white and bowl of homemade onion soup I ordered were delicious. For an indie cafe the level of detail and care that the owners have taken with the space and menu has created a really unique space, perfect for whiling away a few weekend hours. It's obviously a popular location as all tables on the from veranda and inside were taken during the early Sunday brunch rush but they do have a back garden as well.

Had a fantastic afternoon tea at Tea Hive yesterday. The place is very quaint and a bit like you granny's front room with mismatched china plates and cups to give it a bit of a vintage theme. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. We ordered the champagne afternoon tea which at 15 pounds each wasn't bad. We could choose from 6 different sandwich fillings and we're given 4 slices of delicious cakes and mammoth scones with homemade jam. A very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Chai latte from a pot.... Amazing!!!

I was pleasantly surprised to find this place for afternoon tea with one of my most regal friends! Beautiful tea pots, freshly baked cakes, and comfy chairs got us off to what was a promising time. Sadly, the service let them down. They cleared my plate whilst I was still eating my food. They needed calling over three times for us to order more drinks, and they deliberately gave me £5 change in change instead of a note in the hope I'd tip. However, anywhere that serves chai tea latte in a tea pot deserves a second chance... Will keep you posted !!!

Great tea blends at Tea Hive!!

I'm still in love with the place, headed again his weekend, whilst planning to sanple something new, I couldn't resist indulging in the eggs tea hive again... Simply delicious! Being more of a tea lover than coffee, I appreciate their vast array of lovely tea blends!! As with my last visit here, I was too full to fit in any of their homemade cakes but keen not to miss out we chose two slices to take home and enjoy later... A chocolate salted carmel cake and a chocolate and raspberry tort both polished off with a cup of tea at home!! Yes this place is on the pricey side for breakfast but its worth it considering the quality of produce and delicious flavours of their food and drinks!! TO-DO: Plan visit to sample afternoon tea!! :)

The Tea Hive, a charming tea room in the Chorlton great location with plenty of parking. The Hive has a beautiful selection of home made cakes. Served with coffee of your choice or a selection of teas. If you are looking for something more substantial you can choose from the brunch menu offering eggs bacon sausages serve however you like them. The sandwiches are freshly made each day along with a different soup each day. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. You can have afternoon tea served on beautiful China crockery. The place is child friendly as well as single person friendly. Definitely worth a visit

Unfortunately on my last visit I got a slice of baked caramel cheesecake to take out that was not good.

After a heavy night I took my friend here for brunch. On the outside it looks closed. Walking up the stairs exposes a open kitchen and large seating area with cacti everywhere and a cool kat clock over looking the place. The service was enjoyable from start to finish..90 percent of staff including the chef looked genuinely happy to be working there dancing to the music smiling as they cooked and served. It gave it a buzz! The menu consists of well..a American diner..from the special board I chose the maple pecan nut shake and the Benny crab cakes.. my friend had the spinach and poached eggs dish with fresh mint tea. The Shake was huge and yummy and while I waited for my food I kept seeing indulgent stacks of pancakes being whisked away. My poached eggs were oozy and perfect and the crab cakes.. well very crabby! And rich..to break it up there was water melon on the side which refreshed the palette. My friend really enjoyed hers too. I really want to come back here :( please extend your opening times!!

I had my 2 year old and my 10 year old with me as we were over from Ireland as a family to watch the man utd game and the lady behind the desk told me sorry they were full and it was bookings only this was at around 9.30 a.m. I could clearly see empty tables and I explained we were just trying to grab some breakfast before our flight but she said no they were fully booked, I then left the cafe and went online and checked the booking and could see multiple spaces so I booked a table for 5 online, my wife and daughter joined me, when I walked back in and said "Hi I now have a booking " the lady looked at me and said I'll have to check does this booking stand cause sometimes you can make a booking then later it can get cancelled. I was very confused so she walked off for a couple of minutes and then came back and said "OK I've managed to get you a table" as if she was after doing me a favor, when I went upstairs there was 5 free tables and 2 downstairs. I was fuming but my wife begged me not to say anything so I didn't. 1. Why could they not just give me the table the first time. 2.Why did she have to check could I come in after me making a confirmation booking online 3. I had 3 young kids with me and I had to stand outside for no reason in the freezing cold to make an account to book a table as I knew there was space but she would not let me have a free table 4. I spent nearly 65 pounds on breakfast but still left with a bad taste in my mouth I would not recommend this Cafe to any family because it was either not family friendly or she didn't like us cause we were Irish but she purposely went out of her way not to let us on

And this time I didn't get any flipping food AGAIN, more's the pity (think next time Em, THINK), but I swear, on a Saturday around midday, it was like entering a library. Not for lack of custom, there were people dotted around, but they were all alone, reading or laptopping, and everything - was - silent. My companion and I found ourselves speaking in whispers while we awaited our order. Perhaps it was study day. This particular review is based on two items, one of which I didn't experience. Or at least experienced by default thanks to an occasional satisfied food noise and I myself being fed delicious morsels of sundried tomato from the ciabatta which encased... you guessed it... a meat sandwich. Salt-beef and gherkin to be exact. As you know I don't eat meat, but heck, that bread seemed awesome from the tomatoes I snaffled and my flat-hunting companion was all kinds of happy. Now, we come to the other thing. Thing two. The coffee. The oozing black nectar of the jittery gods. This was my area. I have to say, Engine House, bravo. If you can give me an early lunchtime caffeine high amidst me going back and forth between Deansgate, Castlefield and this little edge of the Oxford Road Corridor no one else sees taking in apartment buildings and living dimensions and kitchen units and such on very little sleep, then I commend you. And considering to eat that sandwich at the table would have cost a fiver alone, to take out, that and the coffee came to £4.50. Takeaway it is! Bonus points for having Anthony Worrall Thompson strawberry handsoap in the bathroom. Did you know such stuff existed? I didn't! Check my photo. It's for reals.

I took up residence in the dimly lit back area, where the cheerful waitstaff promptly took my order of a blood orange hot chocolate made with almond milk (!) The drink came out frothy and light, with a cloud of chocolate-dusted milk foam atop subtle, smooth chocolate. No bitter or artificial aftertaste. While bopping along to the background music and working on my laptop, I was informed that Leaf would close early at 19h instead of 20h, so I seized the opportunity to order dinner as well: the jerk lamb rump, and an order of jasmine pearl tea. The waiter helped me verify that the lamb was free of dairy, and soon I was chowing down on succulent roast lamb and garlicky roast beans. The mango jam was a perfect accompaniment to the meat, but I found the coconut/coriander rice too mushy to my taste. It helped me to imagine them as mashed potatoes instead, haha. The tea was sensuously fragrant, and I welcomed the scented fog clouding my glasses. I wish I could have stayed there longer, but I might return for brunch or tea - Leaf is truly a serene, wonderful establishment.
