With the exception of one employee some time ago who left to become a teacher and was breathtakingly rude toward the end of her tenure, the staff has been helpful and informative. My recent experiences are not good. One day, I asked a staff member what her favorite tea was and she introduced me to milk oolong which was the best tea I've ever drunk. They ran out of it shortly later and I was told they might not order more because it was expensive. The employee did put my name on a waiting list and several months later the owner called me and told me it was available. I knew there was a waiting list for this tea and, to be considerate, I asked how much it was okay for me to buy. In a gaspingly rude tone, like it was a stupid question, the owner said, "Well, I have 2.2 lbs in all three stores. It's $11 (something) an ounce." I said I'd like 3 ounces. It was well into the afternoon and I said I couldn't make it down until the next day. In a tone that reminded me of a kindergarten teacher chastising a naughty child, she told me and then repeated herself a couple of times that the tea would not be held for more than 24 hours. I thought this was very odd. I would never wait for months for a tea and then not go pick it up. Also, I have a good customer discount card because I shopped there often and there was no reason to think I wasn't going to pick it up because I couldn't make it there in the 3 or 4 hours before the store closed for the day. I found her quite demeaning. I went down the next day to pick up the tea. A polite young woman found the bag with my name on it but then the owner's daughter came out from the back. She said her mother had told her I had ordered both 2 ounces and 3 ounces so they had just packaged me up 2 ounces. I said I had ordered 3 ounces and had not at any point ordered 2 ounces. The owner's daughter repeated that her mother had said I had ordered both 2 ounces and 3 ounces - as though what I had just said was not even worth acknowledging. Clearly, her mother had forgotten what I said and instead of calling and asking how many ounces I had ordered, she packaged it incorrectly and blamed me. There was no apology for getting the order wrong and making me wait while they unpackaged and repackaged the tea. The daughter did not acknowledge my 2nd remark about ordering 3 ounces. It seemed almost like she was accusing me of lying. I'm not saying I'll never go back because I'm really partial to their almond tea. (They sold out of the milk oolong in less than a month and there doesn't appear to be a specific plan of getting more.) For the present, though, I'm buying my tea from an excellent selection of several tea stores online.

Unfortunately, this move didn't turn out the well for me this morning! I first walk in to a small clean café, and plan to try a drink, sandwich and soup that I saw was available on their menu. Work in the front of the store why very informative and didn't give off too many strange vibes but the lady in the back did. Unfortunately the store was out of Lavender from what I was told and out of soup. The only 2 kids of chips on hand were Cheetos and Doritos. Ordered a half of the sandwich with mustard, lettuce, tomato, cheese and cucumber. What I received was a roast beef sandwich with mayo, mustard, red onion, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and cheese. Now, first of all I was already concerned because the lady who makes the sandwich's was giving off some weird vibes and she didn't write down my order. In my opinion a sizable tip. My total was eight dollars and some change. I left a four dollar tip for providing a decent service. Since discovering a stomach ulcer I can only eat certain kinds of food and I am beyond disappointed with the sandwich. Unable to eat something I paid for is sad plus I'm now 20 minutes away and can't return to request another one. If this café does not want to serve people like me they should put up a right to refuse service and then people who look like me won't come in to their establishment to order food and pay for something at the can't eat. I found on Yelp that Volcano coffee was within 5 minutes of my location. This was definitely a random visit which turned into a wonderful one. Upon my entry, I was greeted with a cheerful "Good Morning " by one of the ladies (employee/possibly owner) and had made eye contact. I advised it was my first visit and if she didn't mind me taking some updated photos of the business as Yelp had old pictures. She stated "You're more than welcome, let me know when you're ready to order". I thanked her and I would holler. The place was larger than I expected. The building didn't look as big on the outside. I guess I was fooled. LOL! The ambiance was clean, comfortable with cozy lounge furniture and dining tables. There is a Fireplace, however, was not in use as it was warm inside. The Christmas tree was still up. I was advised by one of the ladies that they leave it up and change the theme throughout the year. I thought that was pretty neat. Drive thru is available. After looking through the menu. I opted to order the sausage egg muffin breakfast $6.50. This was good. I also ordered a Masala Chai latte with coconut milk $6.30 (inclusive of up charge $.75). This was recommended by one of the ladies and had claimed it was her favorite drink. I enjoyed this drink very much! I also had a warmed apple fritter $3.05 which was good. The three ladies that were working on that day were so joyful, full of smiles and laughter. I could tell they had great chemistry and enjoyed working there. I believe one of them was the owner. They surely made my morning and my day. I left merrily on my way to run the rest of my errands. I shall be back! =)
