When you call everwise with a problem you always speak to someone courteous and helpful. However the problem is usually really stupid, like a $38 fee for a stop payment that THEY lost. You discover several years after their purchase of your bank that you no longer have free checking.. it's really stupid stuff like this that makes me want to trade them in. I'm still waiting on my car title for a car I paid off on May 1st! I called on July 9th and they said it was mailed to my old address, even though they had my new address, it was returned to them and they've been holding my title and would mail it out. Now August 1st and no title, called today and the only answer Supervisor "Karen" could give me is "we don't have it"??? She said you received an emailed Lien Release on July 9th which I told her is useless, the DMV does NOT except emailed lien releases, she said "how strange" no, that's a fact and they never mailed out an original Lien Release! Worst customer service and business practices I've ever experienced! Unfortunately the NCUA cannot help with Everwise, but I am making an official complaint with the Indiana Department of Financial Institution in hopes they will clean up their unprofessional, disrespectful and ridiculous business practices, I hope all whom have received this bad business experience with Everwise Credit Union does the same! read more

Have NOT been able to use my app in early a month. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! No one has been of any help.

Took nearly 25 minutes just to get connected to someone on the phone. I moved out of state and needed to transfer money between Everwise and Interra (a sister branch within the region!) and apparently that cannot be done over the phone (despite having transferred money between these accounts NUMEROUS times over the years). There are no sister branches where I moved. The other option was a wire, but they were unwilling to waive the wire fee. The last remaining option is to use their app (read the reviews on the appstore), which means I have to wait for verification funds to be deposited to Interra. The unwillingness to work towards a mutually agreeable solution is frustrating. Thinking back to when I've gone in branch, it does take at least 10 minutes usually before you get helped, and it has happened where I've waited over a half hour before. Update: the micro transaction occurred but Everwise's app throws an error when I try to validate the account! I messaged the live chat agent through the app, and they said they're aware of the issue and working to fix it ASAP. So I'm still unable to transfer my funds that I needed transferred yesterday. Thankfully there are other banking options, many with better features and interest rates! Goodbye Everwise. read more

I sure do miss the old TCU and it's employees. Member over 40 years, since the age of 13. I would have left for Chase or Citi Bank if I wanted to be treated that way. At least I would know what I was getting. I'm not one to FB complain but received the worst customer service from the Everterrible member services. All smiles and no solutions. Told my story 7 times in 3 days. Supervisors were super at not providing solutions and transfers. Deposited a significant amount of money in the ATM on Friday(3/21) at the ATM of this location. Immediately advised member services that a couple thousand did not register. I completed the "affidavit" gave receipt #, ATM # and sequence # that morning(3/21). Since it was Friday, thought I'd wait until Tuesday to address. I called late afternoon Tuesday and member services acknowledged review and few questions. Wednesday expected call and verification. So called late afternoon again. Member services had no answers and asked me to tell my story again. Called this morning. Finally got told to call next week as they will complete audit due to the amount of deposit. This happen to me once with the old TCU, they handled within 48hrs and actually covered any overdraft fines. Granted I think this may be Karma for all the bad customer service I've provided. Oh well, I really wanted to by some eggs this weekend. I figure my senior money and mediocre credit will find a new home by the time they release my money from its hostage state. read more

There seems to be no way to unlock my online banking account after regular business hours. I had the wrong pw info and don't have a problem with a lockout. Not having any way to unlock this account until Monday 8:00 am seems odd in this day and age, especially considering I use a two-step verification process. What on earth can a live person in a office do that can not be accomplished by automated menu by phone or online 24-7? Some people don't have the luxury of making personal phone calls while at work. So, for me personally, I must wait until Monday 12:00 straighten this out..during my 1/2 hour lunch period. read more

Over the past few years I cant recall one time there was not an extremely long wait inside a branch or with their member services hotline. If you leave a message to be called back or message in the app, it will definitely not be answered. When attempting to get a new debit card after one expired, the experience was so awful. I can not believe how difficult it has been to get a new debit card. Just during July for two visits to a branch, I probably spent 2 hours waiting to be seen. read more

My daughter just got a car loan 4 months ago. Due to health issues and being on fmla, she was late on a payment, they came and took her car in the middle of the night. We had not even received. 30 day late notice, we got it 3 days after the car was taken. No repossession notice. And they will not work with her to pay the payment and get the car back. She was told she's undesirable as a member of the credit union. She worked so hard to get that loan, down payment and warranties, now her credit is ruined. She's a kid who had an 750 credit score at age 18. She had plans to buy an house this year. All she wants is to get the payments made and get her car back. They made her submit paystubs, and insurance and ran her credit again to see if they could continue the loan. Why when they own the loan would they need to do this. They didn't offer her the option of adding a co-signer or setting up auto pay. No they just want her car and she will still have to pay. With all the class action law suits I would think this kind of thing would be bad for business. I have gotten a lawyer and filed with Better business bureau. read more

#1 - "New" website is a freaking nightmare to navigate and does not provide the information it USE to provide. #2 - Looooong wait times on the phone, so I requested a call-back. Got the call back, and was disconnected mid-sentence. Phone rep. did NOT call back. (BTW - I wasn't being belligerent. Just asking for help navigating to account info. Found myself talking to no one.) #3 - Called again and was once again rolling in phone system purgatory... Couldn't even tell if I was on-hold or just being inundated with endless advertisements and offers for yet another call-back. #4 - Paying off car loan shortly, and probably will do it early to get away from this ridiculously complex and unfriendly customer service system! #5 - Definitely feel like I'm bothering the phone reps. when trying to get information or navigate their site. My 10-year mortgage had one last payment due on December 1, 2023. I decided to turn off the automatic payment scheduled and instead I sent it a little early, on November 24. The payment went through, and I heard nothing from the Credit Union. December 3 the Credit Union informed Experian that the account was paid off. January 2 the Credit Union reported to Experian that my mortgage payment was past due by at least 90 days. I called that day and spoke with someone named Scarlett. She looked it up and stated that because the payment was a little early it was not recorded. She said she was crediting me the late charge and back-dating the payment. She said I had $26.32 due to cover the county fees to close the mortgage. I submitted that payment same day. She also said she was emailing the person that did the credit reporting to have the late payment removed, because it was not in fact late. I now have the county paperwork in hand confirming that there is no longer a mortgage on my home. On February 3 I was informed that the Credit Union had reported that my mortgage was at least 90 days delinquent over due by at least 90 days. I called the Credit Union again and was brushed off with the statement that they would get back to me. They have not. This all has caused my credit score to drop about 130 points. read more

I have been with Teachers Credit Union (TCU) for 9 years. For the first 6 years, I never had a single issue with the bank. After I graduated from college and moved to Chicago, and stopped having a face-to-face relationship with the tellers and bankers, things really went south quickly. Last year, when I called the institution after having a fraudulent check written and cashed from my checking account, I was initially told by the customer representative that "my voice didn't sound like the picture of the account holder" and that she could not give me any information. In other words, my voice sounded like a woman's and because my driver's license shows that I am a man, they did not think that it was actually me calling (even though I verified my member number, my address, and last 5 of my SSN). By the end of the call, it came to light that the rep interpreted my call as another attempt to defraud the account. When I called back to speak to a manager, the manager was more unprofessional than the front-line rep was. Ultimately, the check amount was credited back to my account, after having to spend my own money to get documents notarized and faxing them over. This year, when I lost my debit card, and someone proceeded to use it for fraudulent transactions (almost $500 worth) the credit union refused to credit my account and return my money to me. Even though I submitted a police report, they told me that I had to call the merchants myself and try to get refunds that way. Some of the merchants ultimately did not provide refunds, as that responsibility, they asserted, lies with the bank. I am currently working with the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions and the BBB to get the rest of my funds returned to me, 6 weeks after the fraud took place. There have been other miscellaneous quality issues of the years as well. A lot of TCU's problems started when they went from Visa debit cards to MasterCard. I can't tell you how many times I had to get my debit card replaced (and wait several days for its arrival) because the black magnetic strip stopped working. Additionally, after they transitioned to a new website and app around 2015, the quality of their online banking decreased drastically. If you check the App Store, for instance, you will see how low of a rating their app has. When they replaced Finance Works with My Money Manager (M3), that was another blow to the experience as the M3 platform rarely works as it should. Overall, if you live in the Northern Indiana / Southwest Michigan area, and are able to work with the bank face-to-face, it is not a bad place to keep your money. However, if you move out of that area, I would not recommend keeping your account as their call center and online banking experiences are sub-par at best. read more

Terrible. On time car payments for a year and a half and then ONE late payment. It was submitted two days before they showed up to repossess my vehicle... even though it was a one time mishap and my account was current. The service was awful. Everyone treated me like I was a criminal. I was able to save my car by transferring to ndfcu. They were totally appalled at my story and couldn't believe that they did that to me. Credit Union has convenient offices. However, their member services department (customer service) is horrible. They want to do the least possible work with the least effort. They'll respond telling you to email someone else. In the time it takes them to email you to notify someone else (passing the buck), they could have notified them or forwarded the request themselves. Definitely in need of customer service and accountability training there. read more

This is a decent credit union -- I like keeping my money local; they have a good number of ATMs in the Michiana area; and you do get a cash rebate for a certain percentage of what you spend each year using your debit card as a credit card. My biggest complaint about TCU is the absurd travelling policies they attach to their bank cards. Want to buy gas in Ohio? Better not use your debit card. Lunch in Connecticut? Sorry, you'll be declined. Want to buy ANYTHING in Canada? Nope, too much fraud; the ENTIRE country is blocked. As someone who does a fair amount of travelling, that kills me. read more

It has only customer service representative who always get the worst grade at school.I made a cash deposit to my wife checking account at a shared branch (navy federal credit union).The cash wasn't reflecting the balance on the checking so she could pay her credit card off.I called the following day,and this lady (customer service representative ) was asking me to prove that the deposit was cash. She told me it should be on the receipt.I got the receipt and she was telling me to call the navy federal credit union and ask them to send proof to tcu that shows my deposit was cash money. This is what happens when people get the job by favoritism. And TCU doesn't have a branch that deal with credit card issues. They will tell you the only option is phone call.We are closing our account from these jokers. read more

I give no stars. I stopped at the teachers credit union today, the one in Hamilton, at Stonechurch Road and Mohawk, right by the meadowlands, at 4:40 pm to get change for a 20. They asked for my account number...what? I told them I'm a member of another credit union, HMECU, not theirs. She checked with another employee, came back and said sorry, you have to be a member here to get change. What? Ive been to CIBC many times for change, no problems, several times at TD bank. This is supposed to be a bank, and all credit unions are supposed to be one under Credit Union central of Canada. Needless to say, I will never ever think of switching to them, and thats the most ludicrous thing, that a bank wont give you change, yet most stores and all other banks will. read more

My family bought a vehicle and the dealership ran the load through Teachers. It has been a nightmare getting setup to start paying the loan. Their website is not user-friendly and their support line was a lady that I could hardy understand and on top of that she had the phone on speaker.
