I was duped at one of their recent tag sales. I thought I was buying an American Girl bitty baby doll and it is not even close. The doll is complete fake and since they had it in "NIB" you were not allowed to take it out to inspect. The doll is very hard and not near the quality of an authentic American Girl from the 1990's. I paid more than if I bought a brand new doll. This estate sale company is dishonest and I feel robbed by them. read more

I was interested in possibly going to one of these estate sales but it seems that you do your work yourself just letting people know you have a lot of other options on the Internet to sell your own goods. Do not hire Teachers With Class to run your estate sale. This is a class-less disorganization. Respect for the home was absent. Really folks, dragging furniture across a floor? Destructive and completely inappropriate! The "furniture expert" labeled items as MCM even though they were not. Despite repeatedly expressing our concerns regarding the need to move volume, the overpricing by the staff was nothing short of absurd and unrealistic. Ultimately we were left with a home filled to the brim with unsold items. Teachers With Class has an agenda and does not operate in the best interests of the estate/homeowner. THE WORST! While they deserve a zero star rating, evidently one star is the minimum. read more

I'm a fan of their tag sales, and usually we stop in when we see their signs. My favorite purchases were (1) Christmas stuff from a nice colonial in Ramsey, and (2) a solid wood baby changing table in really great condition. I had to gently negotiate on prices, but she was absolutely fair about it. In my view, they were super organized and had the routine down pat. They "work" for the family that hires them to operate the tag sale, so the family puts pressure on them (I think unnecessarily) to sell things and do it a certain way. Sometimes the families have no idea how to run a yard sale! so it makes sense that those people complain and don't understand. I actually seek out Shelly's tag sales. Haters and complainers who posted impolite things in their reviews don't know how to run a sale, and they are greedy and want things for free. p.s., Shelly is a nice lady who is an experienced school teacher and knows how to run the tag sale operation and manage people. read more

Bruce R. You hit it right on the head. Notice how she responds to unfavorable posts. She feels she's never wrong. They do very little research. They gave zero respect for people or their belongings. Talking to them is like talking to a wall. They just don't listen. Half of the time they don't even pretend to listen. I dont need to name names, they all had that arrogant, condescending attitude that {found out later} they are well known for. Another sad truth, is the fact that just about every good review they have is written for them by a friend or relative. I would and will not hire these "ladies" ever again. Nor will I ever recommend. You could waterboard me. There's no one I dislike enough to wish these nightmares on to them. I only gave them one star because they won't let you post without doing so. SELLERS BEWARE of hiring Teachers With Class Sales! I will detail my experience. We have sold our house in New Jersey and are relocating to Ohio. TWCS was hired to conduct a Moving Sale for us this past weekend. They arrived last Monday and spent all of 2 hours pricing some of the items in our 9 room house. Shelley spent most of her time putting up signs. Our favorite was "DO NOT STEAL". They then left. None of the items in the attic were priced. I supplied all of the photos which were posted to EstateSales.net along with the detail of the items. The Sale was scheduled to start 9:00 Friday. I asked that at least 1 of the 3 of them arrive early to finish the pricing. Shelley arrived at 8:45. My wife and I had priced many of the items ourselves since we were down to the wire. Shelley does not know how to price quality items. Both she and her son Kevin, (Who I am sure posted the ONLY positive review) are not professionals. Christine was the ONLY professional in the group. We excluded them from the Sale and conducted it ourselves. I have reported them to EstateSales.net and the Better Business Bureau. read more

I had to sell the contents of my mother's house and the task seemed daunting, so I hired Teachers With Class to take the load off my shoulders. As it turned out, I did 95% of the work - and if I didn't do it, it didn't get done!! After the sale, I opened 2 drawers and one closet that were still full of stuff - that they never even noticed!! Their pricing was all over the place - with some items being too high and others, too low. When I voiced my opinions, our relationship became adversarial. They advertised in a newspaper that people in this area don't get (which I had to pay half of). The signs put outside did not adequately direct people to my house. One sign pointed generically in the general direction of my place and the other was placed in front of the house, but then Lana parked right in front of it so no one could see it. They promised to get more people than I could get myself, yet the traffic was not good. They clearly accepted a job in an area they were completely unfamiliar with and didn't reach any of the local people who typically come to these sales. They didn't realize who the House Sale customers here are. Their clientele didn't come to this area - and the locals never knew about it. Posting it on Craig's List generically told about the sale and simply directed people to their site. After the first day when practically nothing sold, I panicked and listed the big items separately and specifically on Craig's List. The people who contacted me through my ads were the people who came and bought many of the items I posted. I feel that there was practically NO effort on their part to warrant their 35%+ commission. I would have been so much better off having done it myself. HUGE mistake on my part!! Lesson learned. DON'T HIRE TEACHERS WITH CLASS SALES!!!! read more

Had a bad experience with the staff that runs the estate sale. I purchased a large item, left a deposit and left to rent a trailer and get rigging to load item. When I returned an hour later to pick it up, I was told it was sold to someone else that purchased it at the same exact time I did. When I questioned him on how this could happen the man became aggressive and loud. This all occurred in front of my 11 year old daughter. They did return the deposit, but I was out the rental charge and the time it took to get set up. After the encounter I returned home to find that I was not the only customer who has had a problem with the young man that is employed there. It looks like there are multiple complaints on line ( Google Review) on his attitude. read more

I went to two of their sales - both mother and son were rude, surly and obnoxious to me. They refused to negotiate off high prices and refused to take bids on items. I liked the most recent comment they made, referencing a number of "antiquities" that had no attribution, third party authentication or COA's. They were surrounded by tourist nick-nacks which point to a question as to authenticity. The mother said to me, "I won't take bids - if I don't get my number, I'll take it to an auction. I know what these things are worth." That implies to me self dealing on their part whether they were real or not, which makes me especially wary on going to their sales in the future. Better yet, I have a new rule - "Never go to Teachers with Class Sales" - they don't have class and I don't know if they're teachers. read more

Staff does not know the difference between chrome and sterling silver - prices reflect it - way to high. Some of the staff makes up for their lack of knowledge by being nasty and demanding. First and last I'll go to one of their estate sales. read more

Drove a long way and was sorry. Not a very rational person in charge. Possibly a teacher's son? I would never go to another run by this company. Found a tin of buttons upstairs and was quoted $6.00. Took downstairs to pay along with other items and was then told it was $50. Certainly not the whole story, it was a train wreck. read more
