Whether or not you're a connoisseur you can use these to determine which ones you might be interested in trying. That's as opposed to picking the bottle with the prettiest design/colour combo. (hey, that's what I fall back on) Good local and imported cold beer options too! The absolute selling point of Bishop's Cellar has to be the hours they keep. It's not a huge store, but they have a nice selection of what I assume are some good wines, mostly higher-end liquors, and a nice little niche that they seem to be carving out in the craft beer market, which is more of my bag. They have a couple racks and coolers of the many great beer offerings from around Nova Scotia, as well as regional ones like Picaroons and Dieu du Ciel. I just want to buy them all and stock my own beer fridge! The kicker though is the great idea that they had to offer growlers of beer for brewers that are located outside of the city and are unable to do so here. When I was there on Super Bowl Sunday they had their own RockHead pale ale (made by Garrison I believe), Butcher's Block Red and Hippie Dippie Pale Ale from Tatamagouche Brewing, and Boxing Rock's Vicar's Cross double IPA. Deposit on the growler bottles is $7, and re-fills seem to range from $10-$15, both plus tax. This is a fantastic addition to the neighbourhood, especially since this is in my go-to grocery store. So I thought I'd try the bubbly section, which I could not find but found a display of "Holiday Sparklers", not there. Another couple of display and finally success, not sure what the theme of the display was but found a couple of NS sparkling wines, though not what I was looking for so I just gave up. So I head to the cash with the five bottles I did find that I wanted. The cashier, one of those who finds everything to be "perfect", rings in my purchases. I mention the bottom line seems very light for what I bought. She looks at the receipt and says "no, that's right" so I pay and when I'm finally allowed to look at my receipt I discover she's only charged me for 4 out of the five bottles. I bring it to her attention and the apologies and excuses of being new are repeated "perfectly" while I pay for the 5th bottle and make my escape.

It was beer and burger heaven for the evening. My second experience was sampling their sausages on a bun when checking out the Man Show part of the Exhibition Park Christmas Craft Fair. One thing is clear, you don't have to be a man to enjoy the tasty morsels being served up from the NG kitchen. And then this weekend I got to try breakfast Nomad style. I chose to "build my own breakfast' for $4. The way this works is you get an egg and hash browns and add on things at your choosing for extra $. I added some bacon and got the BEST BACON of my life. It was perfectly grilled and made my weekend. The egg was fried egg perfection and there were too many hash browns for me to eat. The hash browns are real local potatoes cooked on the grill and have a charbroiled taste to them. Pro-tip - NG will now be at the Halifax Seaport Market on weekend mornings as long as there isn't a cruise ship in harbour. Extra Pro-tip - I didn't try the breakfast sandwich - but people - it's homemade Belgian waffles with chicken!! One final tip - when your handsome pirate brother has a new baby the way to the new parents hearts is to bring Nomad Gourmet burgers to the hospital for lunch the day after the baby is born. That way both new parents are happily stuffing their faces with burger goodness and you get your brand new niece all to yourself! (at least until the burgers are devoured...)
