I was staying by the airport and I refuse to eat in a hotel. Ventured out and found The Fourth Lock to be a cozy pub feel. The place was busy for a Wednesday and there was plenty of wait staff. Started with mussels which came with the perfect size cubes of pancetta to accompany the dish. Did not really want a main course so ordered the fries with feta and balsamic. Hit or miss. We really want to like it, it's local, nice atmosphere. We've been multiple times with mixed experiences; the last time we waited 40 minutes for food watching everyone after us get served. When we stopped our waitress she checked and our order didn't print out back. Another 20 minutes later (just telling the waitress we're leaving) the food arrives. Went out for supper with a few friends on Saturday evening. The service and food were excellent. Check them out. We got the charcuterie to start. It had options for gluten free eating too. It was so good and had great variety to go with our beverages. I got the panko Crusted Haddock. I loved it wit the roasted garlic mash, vegetables and scrumptious house made tartar. A couple of people got the cheesestake. They loved it. On the other side of me they got the Chicken Roylade. It smelled amazing. You know it is good when I do not have room for dessert. This is the place that Fall River has been waiting for. Great food. A menu that compels you to come back. A place that is warm and welcoming. These are the basic ingredients of a place that you enjoy spending an evening in. Once you mix in a young energetic team of people that can relate to their customers and you've got a great location. Don't waste your money on this "gourmet" establishment! Our main courses were not as advertised and in retrospect we should have sent them back. My salmon, vegetables and potato wedges were drenched in maple syrup and were lacking any evidence of the bacon and caramelized fennel whose saltiness might have cut the overpowering sweetness. The salmon was very dry. My husband's seafood pasta was lacking in seafood and the advertised "lemon basil clam broth" had morphed into a tart tomato broth that overpowered the few pieces of seafood in the mix. In our experience the food has been hit and miss at this restaurant. We always try and give local establishments multiple tries before we abandon ship so to speak. After five times ordering takeout and the food only being mediocre at best we've decided not to return. read more

It was my husband's birthday and we decided to support a local restaurant. I called at 4:30 and made a reservation for 6pm for the outdoor patio for two. We arrived and were told there were no seats and that they would not have accepted a reservation for outdoor seating anyway. The person we spoke with spoke to us he was walking by with drinks. He was dismissive and rude and barely acknowledged us, let alone apologize. We will never go back this restaurant or to his sister restaurant - The Turtleback; a restaurant we used to frequent often.
