We hosted a bridal shower at the Teal Canary and it was fabulous! Amy helped us each create a tile that she will combine into one piece of art for the bride to keep. She was very patient with those of us that were a little less talented and I know she will end up with a great piece of art for the bride. The venue was beautiful and very usable for any type of event. I would recommend you check with Amy if you need to host any function, whether you utilize her talents for an art event, or if you just need a cool space to gather!!

My husband and I went to his third cousin's (I think!) 30th birthday at Teal Canary. It was a blast. For $30 per person, we were treated to a step-by-step instruction of a painting. Maybe it was the vino (it was BYOB) or maybe, just maybe, it was our individual awesomeness, but everyone's painting ended up being different. The owner was a competent and encouraging instructor. I have about zero artistic ability but I ended up with a passable painting. It's a fun time, especially with a group of friends (or new friends!) over some bottles of wine, with paint brushes in hand.

I have always wanted to try out the plant nights that I have seen. So I was browsing on Groupon and…read moreI came across the coupon for yay maker. The hostess was extremely friendly and she appeared to be very knowledgeable about the plans and how to take care of them. Not only did we get to make our own planter, but we also got to check out a new brewery or 'new to us' as We both had never been to Round Town brewery. The tender there was very courteous and offered samples and even suggested a really good mixture of their beers. For the actual event, it's pretty low-key and casual. You walk in and make sure you find whoever is hosting it so you can check in. Then you find the class that you want and sit there. Whomever is leading the event will walk you through every step of the way and answer any questions you have. The only thing that I felt was a little bit misleading about this event was that you pay for admission and then you also have to pay for a supplies fee on top of that. I feel like it would just be so much easier if you just clumped it all into one free.

I like the variety of their pictures as well as the location of their events. They travel to various restaurants to use as venues. Two of my visits have been to the Hard Rock Cafe downtown Indianapolis and one to the Spaghetti Factory since that is fairly close to my home. The restaurant staff tends to be very friendly and you get your choice of the entire menu and bar. So lots of variety, a big plus... but you also need to tip, a little downside... well I do tend to spend way too much on food and drink always... Generally the event is set up in a smaller private room, this way we can paint and follow the instructor without the usual restaurant/bar noises, which is a good thing. The instructors/artists tend to be funny or at least try... there are just so many jokes you can make and so if you go more often, you'll hear the same jokes again. They also try to entertain you with silly games while you wait for your paint to dry, because we all know, just watching the paint dry is not a highly rated activity. So far they have always been helpful if you need more paint, towels, help with the picture, repeat instructions cause you were running your mouth and not paying attention... And let's just mention that you really truly do NOT need any talent in order to paint a picture once the artists break it down for you into little easy to follow steps. And generally there are some discount codes flying around, I found a Groupon for my session and you can win a free event sometimes, and generally they give you a discount code to use for your next event.. that's how they keep you coming back ... a fun experience, a cool picture to brag with and a discount code...

The environment is engaging with lots of sample pairings and crafts in case you want to browse for options to take home or come again. Or group enjoyed it and the time flew! I thought we would get bored or be done quickly but it was perfect timing. Plus we appreciated that you can bring your positioning back during business hours and they will help you tweak it. Nice touch! I would for sure do this again. One tip for afternoon sessions is sit with your face toward the glass/podium as the sun can be in your eyes otherwise. They mentioned due to mall regulations they can't put up curtains, but it was only a momentary issue. Very fun and would do it again for sure!

The reservation was paid in full at the time of reservation. My children and I showed up for the camp at 11am, July 16 and found the doors locked, lights off and the open sign not turned on. I called the business contact and was directed to the owner (Carrie Ridel not sure on spelling) who said the employees must be setting up for the camp in the back and she will touch base with her team and get back with me. After 10 minutes, I called the number again, she did not answer but rather sent a text saying she was still trying to get in contact with her team and to "give her a couple of minutes". She did not call me back or give me any updates after that. After multiple attempts to call her back, I was pushed to voicemail each time or hung up on. After waiting 36 minutes outside her business, I sent a text to Carrie asking for an update and telling her how unprofessional this entire situation is and I'm very disappointed in how it has been handled. She text me at 11:40 stating she agrees and she is very upset with her team and offered to give me a $50 value "free seat" for another class on a different date. She also stated that a member is on their way right now and should be there "any minute". He did not show up until 12pm, 20 minutes after her text. At this point, I'm not feeling comfortable leaving my kids unattended (no spectators allowed) with a disgruntled male employee and asked Carrie for a refund for the class. We also had prior engagements/appointments scheduled for after the inital camp end time. She has not responded. I have called her cell numerous times only to be blocked. The icing on the cake was waking up to an email this morning titled "Wow that was fun" thanking us for attending Kids camp. Carrie clearly does not care about first impressions of her business or her customers. I thought everyone should be made aware, this business is not ran by a reputable owner.

The MXP Shop is on the Northwest side of Indianapolis, off of 79th & Michigan RD, as well as next to Memories Lounge and Just Wing It. Upon, entering the building there's no stairs, low sidewalk, and once in you'll see all the beautiful items in the shop. I was informed by one of the owners(TaKisha) that there are 16 other local Indy vendors at the MXP Shop from selling hair oils, beard oils, shea butter, clothes. Etc. You can do paint on canvas or even join the candle making classes. It took about a 2hrs process for the candle to actually become a wax. The steps on the candle making class are you pick out the glassware for your candle, add the warning sticker at the bottom, put the candle wick stick in the middle, then you'll select your candle fragrance which I chosen lemon, MXP Shop does offer a lot fragrances for the candle making classes. Then, once you select your candle fragrance, you'll pour in the glass, and then it's the waiting game. Since, during my time at the candle making class it was only me there so I spent my time talking with one of the owners at the shop while my candle cool down. Once, my candle wax appears to cool down, I received the candle care info, a free wax melt which I chosen holiday cookie, and the total of my candle making class was $40 plus $4.25 Eventbrite fee. You can find MXP Shop on Eventbrite, they offer classes in the early afternoons to in the evenings, I highly recommend you check it out whether it's the paint on canvas class, or candle making class. Try to experience something new & different you'll enjoy. I must say my first time making a candle was very fun, and a new experience.
