What an elegant, classy, rustic venue…read more I'm a sucker for red barns (check out Rail Epicurean if you love them too) and this fit the bill with silo, hay bales, gravel drive, and a wooden porch out front. Not to mention large wooden red barn doors to complete the look! But then the inside. Purely enchanting! For a party I attended, they decked the place out in string lights and wrapped them on the banister and I'm pretty sure I walked into a twinkling piece of heaven. Holy moly, this place is simply stunning and elegant with a rustic feel! It very comfortably held 100 people and could probably fit more. I didn't want to leave at the end of the night it was so dreamy. Other notes: -Parking available at adjacent church - short walk for guests, or AWB has golf carts -Elevated stage perfect for entertainment -Bathrooms located right off the main floor -Owners are extremely nice and accommodating - ask them to tell you the story of their biz! -Not sure how wheelchair friendly it is - guests had to walk up some steps to enter, and it's a gravel drive

It's located in downtown Indianapolis and has its own parking lot, which was very convenient for guests. The space was spacious enough for the size of the wedding, and everything flowed well throughout the evening. For smaller events, the parking lot is sufficient, but I could see it getting tight for larger events here. One thing to keep in mind is that renting this venue appears to cover only the building itself. My aunt mentioned they paid by the hour for the venue and also had to rent the tables and chairs separately, as well as arrange and pay for the catering. The bar was located in the back and was cash only or their wedding. The wedding turned out beautifully, and the venue provided a charming backdrop for a memorable day. I believe my cousin had swing dancing events here, so they also host a variety of activities.

McGowan Hall is a community and event center located in the Old Northside neighborhood of Indy…read more McGowan Hall was built in 1922 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. I had the chance to visit McGowan Hall recently for a local memorial event. It's a unique setting that immediately made me curious about its history. The grounds originally had a Romanesque chateau completed in 1874. The home was designed by noted architect William LeBaron Jenney, who helped rebuild Chicago after the fire of 1871. Neighbors included president Benjamin Harrison and best selling hoosier author Meredith Nicholson. Subsequent owner of the chateau mansion, Dr. Horace Allen, hosted a party for Levi Morton of New York, who would become Benjamin Harrison's vice-presidential running mate. Harrison's home was not large enough to accommodate the affair. The home was acquired by Hugh J. McGowan, a railway magnate, in 1903. He lived there until his death in 1911. His daughters were known to perform amateur plays with Booth Tarkington in the 3rd floor ballroom. The McGowan family stayed in the home until 1919 when Mrs. McGowan sold the property to the Knights of Columbus (Hugh McGowan had been a member). Finally, in 1922, McGowan Hall was built and adjoined the home. The hall featured a 90'x60' ballroom with balcony seating and a stage. Downstairs had meeting area, billiard, shower, and cloak rooms. The hall hosted the first Knights of Columbus Council in Indiana (Mater Dei Knights of Columbus Council #437). To this day, they meet in the hall. In 1963, the home was torn down. However, the hall remained. The hall continues to host a wide variety of community, charitable, and civic events including theatre productions, fundraisers, high school dances, holiday parties, workshops, AA/NA meetings, neighborhood gatherings, and more. You can rent the Grand Hall (5,000sf of floor space), Council Room (seats up to 120), and an incredible, very vintage lounge that can easily seat 50. While McGowan Hall has some accessibility issues, typical for historic landmarks, there is an accessible entrance to the Grand Hall (550 capacity, around 400 with seating/tables). This is a solid mid-sized venue that I think often gets overlooked here in Indy. It's a beautiful facility, though anyone with accessibility needs should be sure to mention that before renting to ensure the need can be met. For attending a Grand Hall event, I had no issues. However, other areas would definitely have some challenges

I had the privilege of attending an event at VisionLoft Events, a three-location Indiana…read more(technically, I think Stutz is considered one location that includes event center/Stutz Car Museum) center weaving together strong personality, high-tech capabilities, and a nice personalization of atmosphere. Started by Julie and Dan Johnston, VisionLoft is a beautiful space that is ideal for business events, wedding receptions, and a number of other special events that would benefit from a comfortable atmosphere and strong tech (You'd be amazed how hard that combination is to find). This is located in downtown Indy, of course, and is adjacent to Wheeler Mission (It works. Let your biases go.). You enter through a two-sided glass doorway. There's a beautiful fireplace and bar area, wood floors, a greenery area, modern seating (clear, quietly dignified), and as someone who was a speaker during the event I liked that I didn't have to go up on a stage. VisionLoft utilizes several caterers as options including some right from Mass Avenue. The event I attended utilizes Nameless Catering, a caterer I've been familiar with and a caterer I've long appreciated. People were friendly, the atmosphere was comfortable, and service was strong throughout. Parking can be along nearby streets or parking garages (it's all paid). For those getting married in nearby churches or on Monument Circle, this would be an amazing reception option. I did not try the restrooms, though they are labeled as accessible and there's an obvious effort at accessibility at both front and back entrances (odds are the back entrance is ramped also for the caterers). Where I feel obligated to drop what would definitely be a 5-star review is in that area of accessibility. Even upon arrival (before the crowd), moving around was a tad difficult given the table layout. Once people arrived? It was close to impossible - this created the inability to really enjoy the food (or even get to it) and the bar. By the end of the event, I was starved and hit Mass Avenue (fortunately, a close journey of 1-2 blocks). As someone who deals with accessibility on a daily basis, I saw easy tweaks that could have been done to ensure everyone could enjoy the space. It seems like the intention was there, however, in terms of accessibility it definitely fell a bit short (I don't have this experience at Stutz, by the way. It's clear this company cares about access because they went way above and beyond at Stutz). Overall, this is a beautiful space that I definitely recommend. The atmosphere is modern yet also personal and and warm. The high-tech features are great. The acoustics worked quite well for speakers. The proximity to major downtown attractions is for sure awesome. I would definitely return, however, I might shy away from a sold-out or I might simply encourage some advanced planning to improve accessibility.

An absolutely stunning co-working space in Indy…read more It's stylish, comfortable (with lots of formal tables as well as more informal couches and even a cozy fireplace area near a whiteboard wall, making brainstorming fun), and has plenty of presentation equipment, including high tech options with lots of touch screens and such. Staff as friendly and helpful with all the tech and more to boot! Bathrooms were tidy, coffee was plentiful as were sodas and waters throughout the day, and it's walkable to the City Market which makes taking a tasty lunch break easy to do. Not just a work space either. I could see this place being the perfect location for a lovely cocktail party or catered gathering as well.

I have attended a Candlelight Concert in the past at a different location and what a stunning space THIS was. The ambience was everything! The musicians were fabulous! And just when we thought the evening was over, the musicians offered to play one last tribute to Drake. What a wonderful evening it was at this beautiful historic building!

During the holiday season, we enjoyed hearing the nightly 6pm bells play different festive songs. The 8am bell tells us if we're running late for school and the noon bell is a sweet reminder to soak in the small stuff during the hustle of the work day. I'm so grateful for the cheer these bells bring to the neighborhood. Dare I say that it transports me to Europe every time the bells chime? It's that good. If you're looking to visit the Landmarks Center, they roll out the red carpet every other month for first Friday. Can't wait to take our kiddos next month.

Their bar is very neat looking. The historic Bradley Hall Grand Ballroom & Events Venue is situated on the top floor of one of Indiana's oldest Masonic Temple buildings. One of the things that drew me too Bradley Hall was the huge stain glass windows located in their ballroom and the huge ceiling. Made the room seem extremely big which was perfect for my rather large reception. Located in the Historic District of Downtown Greenfield, we are less than 30 minutes east of Indianapolis, and only a few minutes south of I-70.
