Michelle and Craig were a great coaching team working with a class of 12 that included some that never rode a motorcycle before with even a few that never operated a clutch before. It's 9.22 am on Monday morning having spent Saturday and Sunday with Team Arizona on the Beginner Rider course and I already have my Motorcycle license endorsement! The Saturday & Sunday course couldn't have been better run or more enjoyable. The riding coaches, Kevin and Jim made the days fun and easy to learn. So much fun and safety first!! Who would have thought learning to ride.. safely... could be so much fun. After a loooooooong break from riding a motorcycle, I decided I wanted to get back on. I found Team Arizona's intro to riding course browsing the interwebs. The intro class was short and sweet. John (our instructor) knew the subject incredibly well and learned me everything I need to know about being safe and not popping the clutch. I appreciated all the time we got to spend on the bike on the course getting introduced to the basics, because getting started and moving is the hardest part. I plan on returning for the Basic Rider Course (and likely any additional courses they offer) to get some more experience under my seat before I brave the wild streets of Arizona drivers... The instructors, are fun, funny and have awesome experiences to share. I purchased my wife a can am spyder for Christmas, purchase the 3 wheel course for her to learn how to ride her gift. Class room instructions was great, hands on physical activity was a waste of my money. She was instructed on a automatic spyder. I now have to teach her how to shift gears, use a clutch, down shift, basically teach her how to ride!!!! it was a waste of money. The only positive aspect is they allowed her to retest because she miss passing by 2 questions. They INSTRUCTED her on how to get her endorsement. And now I'm spending 2hrs a day teaching her how to ride and understand her bike. They should teach real world riding not easy world dreams. Wife doesn't like her bike as much now, thinks it's to hard because course thought her easy riding!!!!! I own and ride a LT1200, the gift was a safe way for her to enjoy riding and not just being a passenger. Course robbed her of enjoying it. T.E.A.M AZ rocks! I'm very glad that I took my course there. When I was searching for a training center online, I saw couple of other ones, but they just didn't seem very professional to me judging their websites. I picked TEAM because of the cool pics and overall 'solid' looking website, and lots of good info about what I'm going to receive. It seemed like a great package with endorsement included once you pass the final test, so I didn't think much. About the BRC itself... Safe, fun and laid back. I had great time and I think that it's a really well-designed course for someone like me who had no experience with being on a motorcycle. The coaches (Jim&Bill) gave me a lot of positive encouragement, and they were really cool too (not to mention that they knew what they were talking about). I felt comfortable asking questions and going at my own pace which made the whole learning experience much more enjoyable and easier than I originally thought it will be. I've been riding for 2 month now and I'm soooo happy that I took that course. I've learned a lot and it comes handy almost every day on the road, and I don't ever have to worry about being illegal, and getting my bike impounded. Great course. Great coaches. I took the two day rider course from Jim. It was a great class. Lots of skill building/practice on the bike. Good information in the classroom sessions. LOT AND LOTS of stories from Jim, some where even applicable to riding. Jim did a great job at making all of us students get better on the bikes, most of us seemed very comfortable on the drills and everyone cruised through the skills exam, even the figure 8. I highly recommend this course. Let me tell you why. My very first ride picking up my scooter turned out to be a 30 mile journey home from the dealer. I had planned to work my way up to 10-20mile rides, but I got one in my first hour. My ride had city streets, highway access road (oops), neighborhoods, a winding mtn road, long 50mph highway and hills. All of my training came in handy and my observation and lane/visibility position skills were put to use. I got an oh sh!t moment when I accidentally hit the cut off switch going down hill at 50 mph. I stayed calm and shifted over two lanes to the shoulder. Bike wouldn't start, but I went through FINEC and vroom, the scooter was running again and off I went as safely as possible. THE DRILLS WORK. What an awesome experience I had at T.E.A.M. Arizona in Gilbert AZ. I had a fantastic instructor, Steve Guenther that really cared about teaching and training me on proper motorcycle riding, I've never ridden a bike before, so needless to say, I was a bit nervous. Did I make some mistakes, yes. But Steve instructed me on what I was doing wrong, then I got it. I understand why people love riding motorcycles now. I became one with my bike. Going today to get my motorcycle license. Any one that is out there riding without taking this class should rethink what they are doing. Even the experienced rider learns from this class. Did the 2 day BRC class at the Gilbert location and I was amazed at how my fears were dissipated by these instructors. Scott and Sean taught the classroom portion over the 2 days, and Keysan took the field work. I rode for 10 years in my 20's - 30's, but haven't been on a bike in over 25+ years. I was very nervous about getting back on, but I learned so much in the classroom (even changed the helmet I ordered based on their safety recommendations) and they totally set me up for success on the written test. On the course, the bikes were in excellent shape and at 250cc, were perfect to get back on to start. I was blown away by how patient and understanding Keysan was with us. One gent, who was in his 70's, was struggling and Keysan was as patient as I've ever seen anyone with him, getting him through the parts he struggled with. In addition, he helped build a camaraderie with my group that made me feel like I was amongst friends, celebrating each of our accomplishments (horns blaring!!). This team is amazing, everyone passed for their endorsements, and I will definitely return for further training as I get more experience on my bike! read more

Let me start out by saying if you are looking for a well proven course on motorcycle safety, look no further. The training is broken into stages . Each stage is well paced, informative with plenty of hands on with a motorcycle. The motorcycles they put you on are small but well maintained and they get the job done. the riding coaches are very knowledgeable and patient. The best in the business! Now the reasons I'm giving 2 stars. The class room instructor starts the class explaining that this is a adult learning environment and everyone will be treated like adults. He then procceeds to spend the next 3 days calling everyone "boys and girls". He masters being condescending, rude and arrogant . His demeaner is that of a prison guard with the crabs. If you want to spend $300 and then have some douche talk down to you, this is the place! Beside that, the course is 2 thumbs up. read more

My first piece of advice is this: If you're not sure you want to ride, take the $85 introductory course first. Two people dropped out after the first riding day in my class and they don't give refunds! I took this course several years ago when gas was almost $4 a gallon. I had never ridden a motorcycle before and about 1/2 my class hadn't either. From a complete newbie's point of view, I thought this was an excellent class. I took the course on the West Side at Glendale Community College. Here's the breakdown: The Course: 2 1/2 days over a weekend. Friday is 4 hours of class time. Saturday is about 5 to 6 hours of riding and 2 to 3 hours more of class time with a written test. Sunday is roughly 4 more hours of riding culminating with the riding test. Yes you have to get up early to do the riding portion on Saturday and Sunday. This is Arizona, you have to get up early to do anything outside. Instructors: I read a few other reviews about their instructors being rude or arrogant, so I have to mention that our instructor Dave was affable, polite and treated everyone in the class with respect. He patiently answered everyone's questions, and made sure everyone understood the material. This is important because he didn't just spew out answers to the test, he actually "taught" the material in a way that you remembered it. I was a bit stressed about the written portion of the test because the class portion is so short. Come test time though, everyone could easily recall enough information to pass the written exam (which is not easy either) Out on the course our instructors were "firm" but still polite. When you take into consideration that they are responsible for your safety and that falling off a motorcycle even while standing still can be hazardous, their sometimes gruff attitude is understandable. Course Materials: You get a small book that has all the information in it which you get to keep (I refer to mine frequently) They show several videos that also contain test information and a few "no-brainers" like a drinking and riding video. For the beginners course, they provide the motorcycle (which you don't get to keep) and a helmet. The motorcycles themselves are well maintained and are small enough (250cc) for a novice to handle. They have both cruisers like the Honda Nighthawk and Rebel and sport bikes like the Ninja. Class Time: I thought the class time was time well spent. If you've never ridden before all of the material is new so it's interesting and informative. I'm pretty sure even those in my class that had ridden before learned something new. As I said before, my instructor was really good at teaching the material in a way that everyone was receptive to. Riding Time: This is what we're here for right?!? Of course I'd love to have a week of riding but that wasn't going to happen so roughly 7 to 10 hours would have to do. The methods the instructors use to teach are so simple and easy to understand that they took me from not knowing how to start the bike to weaving in and out of cones at about 10 miles per hour in about 30 minutes. By the end of the first day I could corner, emergency stop at 20 to 30 mph, make 90 degree left and right turns and almost do figure eights in a small rectangular area marked out on the black top ( trust me, you will come to *hate* that box!) The second day you work on more advanced things like emergency stopping while cornering and controlling the bike with the rear wheel is locked up. The riding test is administered on the second day as well. The Tests: Sorry, No answers here. Before taking the course, on a whim while I was at the MVD I took the State test and failed it by one question. I had not studied for it at all, most of the questions seemed like common sense to me. By comparison, the test you will take at this course has a lot more questions and seems a little harder than the State test. Great! You actually come out a little smarter. The TEAM Arizona riding test is a lot more involved than the state one, but does contain all the elements of the state test. The best part is after you pass you can take your paperwork to the MVD and get your license issued on the spot. My insurance company also gave me a pretty decent discount for taking the course. Overall: An excellent course with lots of great information and basic technical riding skills. This course will not turn you into Valentino Rossi in one weekend though. I was excited when I got my license and then scared sh!tless the first time I rode on the street in actual traffic. It took me almost 2 months to get up the nerve to go on the freeway. I've been riding over 300 miles a week back and forth to work every day now for 3 years and still use most of what I've learned in this course. After a while it happens automatically and I'm certain some of the skills I learned in this class have kept me out of the hospital or morgue. read more

Both my classroom instructor and riding coaches were supportive and provided technique tips to improve my riding. My experience with Team Arizona people: arrogant and rude. The instructor actually thought that the tragic injuries and deaths that resulted from the 2010 Carefree, Arizona accident could have been prevented had the riders taken their course at Team Arizona. That is cruel and arrogant for them to even think that their course could possibly have changed the event of that horrible afternoon in Carefree, Arizona. When the gas prices went to $4 a gallon, we determined that we could pay for the cost of a motorcycle and its operation and save about $100 a month over driving to work every day. When shopping for a bike, every shop recommended Team Arizona training. While the prices looked a little steep at first, we quickly found out why these classes come so highly recommended. After less than a week, we left feeling confident about our knowledge and control of the bikes and a certificate that allowed us to waive the MVD tests. There were several people in our class that had been riding from several years to 17 years and they all said that they learned something new from the class, so even experienced riders and benefit and become safer. We look forward to taking more advanced classes as we gain experience. Update: We have since taken two more classes at Team Arizona and have lost count of the number of times what we learned in class has saved our hides out on the road. Took the Intro class, as I've only been a passenger before and was curious about being the driver. Good class--about an hour/hour and a half of class time and then about 2-2.5 hours on the outside course. Instructors were patient, explained everything and there was more than one (Sarah, Ferrell, and John), which helped with our class size. Covers all the basics, as we had a wide range of skill sets. Let me tell you, there's a lot to learn, remember, and things need to work together (hands, eyes, feet...brain). Little overwhelming at first, but everyone's patient and you do the skills repeatedly. By the end of the class, you have a grasp of what it's all about. Not bad for never leaving 1st gear! There was also a beginner class happening on another course. Looked like they were all doing really well and on their way to getting their endorsement. Also looks like the school offers a wide variety of classes--from beginning, to advanced, to racing. read more

In November of 2007, I walked through the doors of T.E.A.M. Arizona and expressed a sincere interest in becoming a RiderCoach. When I met with the office staff, I was pleasantly surprised to have them greet me with a smile and a handshake. The staff welcomed me in and immediately began sharing information on how to get started. The environment was supportive and encouraging at on-set. The T.E.A.M. Arizona were true professionals. I quickly completed my application and returned it As time progressed, I earned the status of RiderCoach and began teaching an array of classes. Again, I found other RiderCoaches to be as eager as I, to see my career as an Instructor soar. Special thanks to Bill, Kevin & Tealdo (and several others) for making things easy, fun & exciting !!! Big shout out to Jack & Larry (office staff members/RiderCoaches as well) for watching my back on the administrative side of the house for making things go smooth. Considering I was currently holding a full time career riding 40-50 hours per week as a Motorcycle Cop, I wasn't sure there was much more to accomplish. I mean, geeze. I'm a Motor Cop. I had already been through Arizona D.P.S. Motor School, what more could there be. I would later learn I spoke too soon. The fun was only about to begin !!! Over the next few years, I attended numerous Skill Practice Sessions, Confident Rider Courses and other Workshops and Clinics. However, the Advanced Riding Techniques proved to be the entry way to the most challenging training I've experienced since Arizona D.P.S. Motor School. Seek out this training and sign up immediately !!! T.E.A.M. Arizona then offered me a personal invitation to become a Total Control Instructor. At on-set, I thought Total Control training was reserved for sport bike riders only. That is certainly not the case... My preferred ride is a huge, 800lb, touring bike designed to rack up serious miles and haul a ton of cargo with me. Total Control taught me I can control this beast with a simple change of mindset, easy to follow classroom setting and minimal physical input. My Touring Bike just became nimble.... I'm on cloud 9 with T.E.A.M. Arizona and my training still continues... During my motorcycling career, T.E.A.M. Arizona has strongly promoted my success as a RiderCoach Instructor as well as Total Control Instructor. I've taught all over this great state (and a few other states) and seen thousands of excited, new students, quickly reach the goal of "Licensed Motorcyclist" with ease. I took a beginners class. The instructors berated me, humiliated me in front of the class and picked on me. At the end of the class I asked for a refund citing there unprofessional behavior as a breach of contract and refused. They said that they had options that would make go back to the same instructors and I refused. I have made a dispute with my credit charges stating same reason. Buyer beware! read more

Wow! Had such a fun couple of days this weekend taking my Basic Ridercourse with these guys. I rarely write positive reviews, but the guys n girls here at TEAM Arizona truly deserve a huge pat on the back. The instructors were some of the best / friendly people you'll ever meet. I went from a novice rider, who had only ever ridden quads - to being confident to ride my own bike, in 15 hours of written & riding based training over 2 days. As a complete amateur motorcycle driver I decided to take the Basic Rider Course at TEAM Arizona Motorcycle Training Center. There was a lot of information packed into the two days but everything was very well orchestrated. The pace of the classroom sessions allowed for plenty of questions and our classroom instructor, Matty, made the class both educational and entertaining. The range time was rather nerve-racking at first but you truly start with the basics of riding and gradually incorporate more skills. Our range instructors, Jim and Gordon were great! They explained each course exercise thoroughly and offered tips to improve skills along they way. It was also great to meet other women taking the course who had the same interest in riding. I recently took classes to get my endorsement without ever sitting on a running motorcycle prior to the first day of class. Mike and Tealdo were my instructors. These two were incredibly knowledgeable, encouraging, fun and honest. I wrote Team AZ a letter about a month ago describing my class but have not hear back from them. The instructor got mad at me for taking my helmet off during a break...he stormed across the lot, got in my face and asked why I took my helmet off and if I wanted to stay in the class. It was very hot that day; I was concerned about heat stroke. Throughout the rest of the class I was treated with looks of distain and head shaking from the instructor. read more

I went to TEAM AZ in August 2011. I had such a great experience I had to write a review about my experience. I attended the school because I could receive my Motorcycle licence after just a 3 day class. During the three days I was prepared with knowledge to be a safe rider in every situation. They brought me from an experienced person who has never been on a bike before to a rider with the tools and knowledge to make good and safe decisions on the road. After my three day class I felt more prepared as a rider than the other bikers who have been on the road for years. This was confirmed by a fellow classmate who had been riding for 30 years who also wanted to get their licence quickly after class (you can go straight to DMV and get the moto endorsement). The veteran rider said she learned things to make even her a safer rider. Overall my experience at TEAM AZ Gilbert was very positive, I attribute my safe riding half a year later to the class I took in August, and I would enjoy doing business with them again in the future. read more

Decided to take the three half day's course versus the 2 longer day course. Just thought two 10 hour days would be a bit of a grind. The 3 half day course was perfect. We had a blast and enjoyed the classroom and the two riding days. Well laid out course syllabus and curriculum starts you from a and takes you to z as far a basic techniques to ride safe. The poor folks that got offended by the "girls & boy's" inclusion, REALLY! Maybe you should have started the day with a massage! There is a lot of material and skills to achieve to a certain standard within a designated allotted time. All the participants in our class had no problem reaching and achieving the goals and we had a fun time learning what we came for. The instructor was very observant and instructive in "coaching" individual performance (very personable) yet direct, what more can you ask for? Overall, well worth money, time & effort if you are wanting to enhance or learn safe motorcycle riding techniques. Money well spent if you are going to ride and don't have any formal training. Decided after years of being afraid of motorcycles, that I wanted to learn to ride so that I could keep up with my husband and son. I signed up for the Basic Motorcycle Safety Course. Although the classroom portion was relatively easy, the practical course proved to be a bigger challenge than I anticipated. Wisely, my instructor did not pass me. I was both disappointed and relieved -- more relieved if the truth be told. But, after two hours of private instruction at the training center in Gilbert, I feel so much more confident . I am ready to jump back into a practical class and ultimately test out successfully. Kudos to these instructors who are so knowledgeable and patient while preparing completely novice riders to mount a motorcycle (or in my case a scooter) and brave the open roads. I just finished a Basic Rider Course with Grey instructing the classroom portion, then he and Bruce as the riding coaches during the practical sessions. They both were very professional, knowledgeable, encouraging, and patient with everyone. It actually was amazing that half the class had never even been on a bike before and by the end of the second day they passed the DMV written and skills tests and qualified to get their endorsements. Having ridden years ago I thought the class would likely be just rehash what I already knew but I was learning new things about riding nearly immediately. I would recommend the course to anyone who has never been on a bike before, or as in my case, if you've spent an extended period out of the saddle. The equipment was in good condition, I will definitely go back with my own bike in the future to work on some of the techniques with my own gear. read more
