I had an appointment scheduled to get my hair colored prior to my wedding. The stylist left the salon and Team Blonde informed me two days before appointment. I requested an appointment with another stylist at the salon due to the time constraints of my wedding in two weeks. Salon told me they could not accommodate me. Salon has put me in a terrible situation and provided no apologies or accommodations. I previously enjoyed going to the salon and shopping here but I will never again give them my business nor will I ever recommend them. Sylvia is a fan favorite of my son Kaelan and daughter Siena who followed her over to Team Blonde on Madison in Forest Park when LemonMade closed its doors at the end of 2019. We just had our second haircut in the new digs at Team Blonde and it's impressive. Same great quality and service by Sylvia - my son admits that playing video games while getting his haircut is "the best thing ever!" What's awesome is how the owners of Team Blonde designed a really great full-service salon space for adults and kids of all ages. They also set up a special room for kids cuts. TB brought over the mini cars and truck for toddlers to sit in which my daughter loved while she watched a show. I stopped in tonight looking for something "business casual" but cute. I live in scrubs, yoga pants, a bathing suit or pajamas- for real- that's it. I never, ever dress up but had a meeting tonight and needed to wear actual grown-up clothes. The lady working today was so so so helpful and patient. I wish I'd gotten her name. She was great. She helped me put together an outfit that met my needs- and one item was in the 30% off section so I got a great deal. There are really nice basics too like solid color high-quality pieces and a few super black jackets that caught my eye. She told me Team Blonde has a SPA connected to it! I quickly peeked around the corner but had to run off to a meeting so I'll have to come back for that. They also sell cards, candles, jewelry and other cute things that I will come back for. This eco-spa and boutique never fails to delight. In addition to great clothes, accessories, jewelry, cards and more, behind the spa door, relaxation awaits. This visit I had another wonderful massage, a great no-chip mani and a lash tint that gets me out of wearing mascara for another 3 months! They have a full hair salon, waxing, threading and facials, too. The owners, Jayne and Heidi (and friendly shop dog Cooper), are frequently on site, and they and there staff will get you looking better than you dreamed possible. This place is named appropriately. They sent my daughter home with an uneven haircut and when we went back, they said her hair texture was really thick and would have needed more time. I said I would have paid more rather than having them rush. They don't seem to have a lot of experience non-White hair. Team Blonde indeed. My bad for not seeing this one coming. They refunded our money and fixed the cut, but it sure wasn't worth two trips and the aggravation. read more

I booked an appointment for my husband to get the Treatment Pedicure. He had a horrible experience which was disappointing because that pedicure is $62! One, the set up is uncomfortable. He had to rest the back of his ankles on a metal bar while sitting on a bench. So he was uncomfortable the entire time. It says online the pedicure is "Perfect when significant attention is needed for rough heels, ragged cuticles, and dry skin." This is what he needed, but he left with dead skin patches and rough feet. He asked her to continue because his feet were still rough, but she said she couldn't. WTF!? That's what this pedicure is for! Also, his feet are not extreme and he doesn't have any medical issues, just rough feet from wearing sandals, etc. When he came home I couldn't tell he had a pedicure. read more

Susie was so nice for a nail tech, but for a 42 no chip manicure, i will not go back. She did not clean up around the nails with the polish, and the polish pooled at the base of the nail. In addition, it chipped within 5 minutes of me leaving the salon bc when I tried to scrape off the polish on my skin it peeled some off the nail. Very accommodating and they fixed it no problem, but would not recommend! Again, so nice and nothing against suzie just not a good quality no chip read more

The store isn't what I'd normally seek out, although I'd check out the handbags again. The jewelry is really cool, but crazy insane expensive. I went for the girl's night out event a few months ago, and the beading was no less expensive if I had provided my own labor. But the event was generous - they serve a lot of nice appetizers, and the spa services were terrific. People were packed in, making it a little difficult to move around. Still, I had the best manicure of my life - the polish looked great for a full week, which is a first for me. read more

I said to myself about a month ago "Self, you should have yourself a nice little shindig for your birthday".....about two years ago, I threw myself a little jewelry making party at a place in Wicker Park (I have a review about it too). Well it closed, but I had a load of fun and decided to do it again.... Hence in doing a search on there Internet, I came across Team Blonde...and boy, am I glad I did! Loved it, loved it, loved it! I brought my own food and drinks and my party was downstairs in the 'lounge' area...it was almost like a living room with a kitchen. In the middle of a huge table, all the beading was put out for us to use at our leisure. I was even able to plug my iPod into the stereo and we listened to music as we chilled, ate, had spa services and made jewelry. I didn't have any spa services, but some ladies at my party did and they were all very happy- special thanks to the nail technician who came in on a Sunday to make this happen for us!!!! I was so impressed with Team Blonde. I left with a new necklace, earrings, my daughter made a bracelet and I bought her a separate bracelet and necklace...and I spent less than $150. My mom bought me one of the cool bags from there as a birthday gift....and my grandmother bought me a pair of sunglasses that make me look HOT!!!!! (yeah I just gave myself props!) Special shout out to Jane and Heidi! I love places like Team Blonde and as long as they are open, I will be a lifetime customer. Super impressed with this gem! We stopped for two kids cuts (which were both outstanding), and were offered a quick tour of the entire location. I'm not very happy with the friends who recommended I check this place out because I could easily spend my entire paycheck here. Everything is adorable, and handmade, or made from sustainable/recycled goods and if you are looking for a gift for me I would love anything from the shop! There is a large selection of handcrafted jewelry, including beadwork, gemstones, silver, and craftier items like Scrabble tile jewelry. They also offer some really nice personalized photo pendants. (I will be back to get a pendant of a picture of my dog!) There is a small selections of bamboo fabric clothing and if you haven't felt bamboo fabric it is softer than cotton and very comfortable. They carry a small selection of baby clothes and super cute winter accessories. I also enjoyed their selection of handbags and small purses, as well as the recycled plastic print bags. Lotions, candles, and a spa! Yep, they have a little salon in the back where you can get manis, pedis, facials, massages, wax/threading service etc. They have an area set up to host jewelry making parties which can also include spa services. How awesome does that sound? They also host a girls night out each month. It is a little pricey, jewelry starts at $30, but considering it's all unique and handcrafted, it seems worth it. read more

Love the ladies who run this place! The Eco-spa is small, but quiet and well appointed. Because there are fewer employees you get to know everyone quickly and you always feel like you're with friends. Nails - Barb gives amazing pedicures and manicures so if you're looking for some "me time" and a little pampering I highly recommend seeing her. They have OPI and Essie, and do both traditional and no chip manicures too. Massages- Donna literally gives the best massage I've ever experienced and I've been to a lot of places! Just go, and splurge on the 90 minutes, you won't regret it. Facials - I've had facials at lots of fancy places including med-spas and no one holds a candle to Courtney. She uses organic products, and explains every procedure and product as she uses it. She also caters each session to your concerns and changes things on the fly if need be. I always feel like a million bucks after seeing her. She gets booked up many weeks in advance, so don't try to just walk in. Plan ahead if you know you'll need one for an event. Lastly, the boutique. I own more stuff from the shop than I care to admit Great clothing, wonderful home and body products from local artists and vendors, and the jewelry... They have something for every style and budget. They also repair jewelry! Jane has saved a number of pieces from the trash bin. She's amazing. And be sure to check out Counter Coffee, their coffee shop down the street. read more

Love this place on so so many levels. I have chronic pain and Donna gives the most amazing massage that helps me cope and keep my pain manageable. I have tried nearly ever masseuse in the area and NONE compares to Donna. I am a regular for a reason. She is a goddess. Being a regular for massage is deadly for me though because I can't walk out of the place without finding something else to buy. My friend and I went there the other day. Last ditch effort to find earrings to match her mom-of-the-groom dress. At first we walked around and looked and felt all the great fabrics. We didn't think the prices were all that expensive for a small shop. Our feeling is that you get what you pay for. If you can find something similar at Kohls (or so you think) go for it. Why spend the money! But, Jane came out and helped my friend put together the perfect earrings. She took apart a pair that we were looking at but didn't quite like. Then she started trying different beads. They are just perfect and my friend is very happy with her selection. As far as the price, I thought they were going to be twice as much. THEN the best part....I asked to use the restroom and had a peak at the spa area! I was shocked and took a brochure. Now I can't wait to go back and try everything. read more

I love this place! All the jewelry is beautiful and the other items are cute and clever. It is a bit pricey, but I don't mind knowing it's local artists. It's a great place for gifts and I always manage to find something in my price range that the recipient ends up loving. The facials are amazing. I love that they are one set price no matter what Courtney ends up doing. I have been places where basic facials start out pricey and then to add anything beneficial(acne for instance) is an additional exhorbitant charge. I have also used service in the hair salon. I had a benefit to go to and wanted something special done for the evening. Even though these guys were a little bit higher in price for an up do than other salons in the area I was willing to try it knowing how much I love the place. I wasn't disappointed. I walked out loving my hair and got many compliments as I paid and walked out and not just from the staff either. Additionally, I received many compliments at the gala that evening as well! I'm about to move out of Forest Park, and one of the things I will definitely miss is stopping by Team Blonde regularly. Heidi and Jane, the owners, know so many clients by name, including me. It's not because they have my name on their list of appointments; I generally just randomly stop in when I see something cute in their display windows and then end up buying lots of things because so much of what they have is my style. However, I have gone there for facials and pedicures and have enjoyed all my experiences. In addition to wonderful customer service, they seriously consider where their products come from. A lot of what I've bought there supports various non-profits that help women, children, and animals. Most products are also vegan and cruelty-free. During Covid, Heidi and Jane have taken every precaution to keep everyone safe. Another thing to love about Team Blonde is their shop dogs. If you go in regularly like I do, you will be among the lucky few who Cooper gives love to. And now they just adopted Kiwi, who is a tiny love bug. Had the most awful experience at this "spa"! Came in with platinum blond hair, wanted to do an ombré effect. Ended up getting super dark roots and medium patchy grey hair! The girl had no idea what she was doing. She should have filled my hair and watched it process. Instead I was getting my nails done while processing. Total disaster. However, this is not even nearly the worst part. I used to do hair so I felt her pain of something not working out, but she just got mad! We were left at the front of the desk while they went to go discuss what to do about us. So uncomfortable and NOT the way you ought to treat clients. Even after knowing I hated this mess she left me with, the girl wanted to charge me $130 for this all over color!!! The owner was very rude and made comments like "well a hundred other people are happy with her so..." Excuse me?!?!? "We had processing time problems because of your nail appointment" Like that's my fault?!? You booked the appointment! What a joke! I had to color my hair a dark brown just to look normal!!! Also, my husband got a maintenance pedi and they charged him the full amount. The nail tech was sweet but I couldn't gotten the same no chip and pedi with an ACTUAL massage for less than half of what I paid. It's so sad because I actually enjoyed their cafe on circle. Now seeing how terribly unconcerned they are with their customers, I will gladly give my business back to Starbucks! Utter disappointment! read more

When I grow up I want to do something like Team Blonde does. Seriously - these ladies are amazing. Two friends from college who left their corporate jobs to pursue their hobby - I just think it's fantastic!!! The store is cute as hell with a nice brass ceiling (painted over though) and warm brick walls and I absolutely love the layout and presentation. You have a broad choice of jewelry, hats, scarves and handbags as well as body products and candles. I went there as part of the bridal shower organized by my "in-law girls" and I made a bracelet and had a pedicure. I don't have a clear idea of the pricing of these specific items but I thought that most of their selection was reasonably priced if you consider that they are made by exclusive designers. I would have more mixed feelings about the actual pedicure that was not that great. It was executed by a very talkative older Ukrainian woman whom I personally found real nice but who could be a turn-off to some people - especially because of her racist comments..... Overall a definite gem on the already nicely adorned crown of Madison Street in Forest Park! read more

God forbid I find a place in town that can handle doing my hair properly....Suzanne the stylist talks about you like you're not there and is so fake. She over processed my hair and turned parts of it grey. I'm 28, not supposed to have that yet. She failed to put the foils in evenly too, still have roots showing on one side of my head. The reason behind the terrible review is because she's been a stylist for 25 yrs; it's beyond me how when I went back to complain the people at the store asked what I did to turn my hair grey...I said nothing...so they asked what did I wash my hair with...and I told them I hadn't touched my hair since I left the salon the day before. Their stylist turned my hair grey. So the stylist finally comes out and asks what the problem is....and I told her she turned my hair grey. She looks at me and says I'm done. And I said you're supposed to fuckin fix it. I didn't get an apology, I didn't get the offer to have it fixed...just "I'm done." She says I'll get my money back and I have an appointment at Bertuca down the street on Saturday to have this done properly. By the way, if you have a dog, do NOT bring yours near the shop. Theirs almost attacked my jack russell earlier today. read more

I came into this boutique looking for an outfit to wear to a funeral. I was treated so unkindly that I felt like crying when I left the store. After telling the woman who was assisting me about my situation she looked me up and down and pointedly said that it might be hard to fit me because I'm so tall. I'm 5'10 which is tall of course but not so tall that I can't wear normal clothing? Her tone made me pause but I convinced myself I was being dramatic so I continued to follow her as she pulled some clothing. She then gave me an item of clothing and said again pointedly that I am really broad so it might not fit with a scowl on her face. I have never been described that way by anyone so one can assume that I either am not broad or everyone has chosen not to tell me because it wouldn't be especially nice to. Caught off guard by these comments, I went into the dressing room to try on the tops but had to leave soon after without buying anything because I didn't want to cry in the store. I asked the person who I was shopping with whether I was being dramatic and she said that she had noticed the same things that I did and suggested I leave a review. You know when you are already having a bad day and someone says something cruel to you and it pushes you over the edge? That was my experience at this store. read more

I had my very first massage here and it was by a very nice lady. It was just after having my baby, so it was really nice to have a relaxing massage. While I was waiting, I browsed around the floor shop which had awesome jewelery, very unique. However, I decided to purchase a pair of baby sunglasses for my infant son. I am torn on the rating for Team Blonde. While I love the store, the service, and the products, I just can not get over the prices. Most items are so over priced I just can't justify buying them. I was always go int hoping to find a gift, but price is just too prohibited. For example, $90 for a hat. I could find a similar style at Kohl's for a fraction. The jewelery too, simple bracelets close over $65 and necklaces twice that. Buet yet then they have some beautiful prices for reasonable prices, like the stainless steal line and one line of beaded bracelets and necklaces. I appreciate the jewelry is handmade and unique but even still it is WAY over priced. I have been to the spa, it is very nice. Prices are about the same as any place I would go in the city. What I liked was that you can go with a friend and actually have the pedicure together. I recommend checking the store out, they do have some fun unique items, but be sure to bring a lot of $$. read more

This past weekend I was at Team Blonde for the first time and loved it. A couple of friends of mine and I went for salon services and we were very happy. The masseuse was very attune to what I needed, and asked about what worked for me. The owners and staff are very friendly and were very accommodating. I agree with the other posters that the store is pricey, but I found a couple of pairs of earrings that weren't too pricey, but still are not something you'd see anyone else wearing. I'll go back for sure. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I don't have the means to go to them every week. read more

I received a mini facial from them and they burned my face! When I pointed out the mark on my face before I left, they told me it was just a skin irritation and that it would be gone in a day or two. By the next day it turned into a scab, so I went in there and they refused to admit it was a burn! They continued to say it was a skin irritation. Rather than apologizing, they claimed that I never told them I was getting married that week. They eventually gave me a refund, AFTER I had to ask for it. Even if I didn't have an event later on that week, who would want to walk around with a burn on their face? They have lots of nice stuff to buy in the store, but avoid the facial treatments. read more

This place is amazing! I threw my best friends bachlorette party here and Jane and Heidi were wonderful. This place is so cute with a lot of things to do. We all made a bracelet to remember the day. I never, NEVER had nice nails. Then I started seeing Barb at Team Blonde's eco-spa. She has a treatment called IBX that adds strength from the inside. We finish with a no-chip mani that stays perfect for up to 2 weeks! My nails are long and beautiful now even though I don't wear gloves to do dishes and I work with my hands all the time. Bonus ... it's quiet, calm and blissfully free of toxic fumes in this salon, and Barb is a lovely human being. read more

THIS IS THE PERFECT PLACE FOR A MOMS NIGHT OUT!!! I have been here many times and have thrown a few moms night out parties here. It's so much more than jewlery making, you can get a massage, a manicure or a pedicure and so much more for goodness sakes and at a very reasonable price! The owners are super duper cool...we call Jayne the "post whisperer" as she will help you and your guests through the jewlery making process. Basically, you design it and they help you with the clasps/posts etc. The atmosphere is fabulous (there's a sweet dog who can charm the guests) and there are amenities such as a microwave and wet bar area for you to use! Your guests get the shop to themselves for an evening and can sign up for the services. My friends always appreciate getting a manicure/pedicure or massage on a moms night out, I know I do! The beads that they have for jewelry making are the very best and I have made wonderful meaningful presents for my mother, mother in law and sister. They put the jewelry you make in a beautiful team blonde box and then put it in a bag ready for giving. I wish this was here when I was getting married, I would have brought the whole bridal party to make their own jewlery for the wedding! What a perfect place for a bridal shower! This place is truly special, the gifts in the store are so much fun to look at..there are funky items like Rock and Roll bags with volume controls and seat belt clasps adorning them. The place is really neat with original hardwood floors and tin ceilings. The lighting is perfect, the music is soft and Jazzy. Everyone who works there ROCKS.
