After the initial court date was set, they also never updated me to get my side of the story. Possibly that's normal as there was nothing I could say to help, but overall I felt like I had to chase down every update from them over the course of about six months. The communication I did get was usually automated and not relevant to me. Only when I called would I get a real explanation of what I needed to do. Each time I called, I had to leave a message with the front desk, wait for a call back, and call back again in a few days to do it again before getting to talk to someone who could help. I also was never provided the proof of my payment to the court, which I had to contact them several times for. If they can get you off a technicality, then this process is probably worth it, but if your case goes beyond that, it felt a little a tiring. They're definitely a high-volume firm and not geared for personal service, and I guess the price reflects that, but know what to expect. All that said, everyone I can into contact with was very friendly and willing to help. They were very pleasant to work with, just wish I didn't have to contact them so much.

I took up a lawsuit at a DSHS facility regarding contaminated water from the original plaintiff who…read morehad died at that facility. I filed numerous motions in response to the defendant's briefs. Over the course of nearly five years I fought the state representing the facility and those in charge. The case was dismissed in District Court, I appealed to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal and prevailed. The District Court granted my motion for appointment of counsel due to the fact that there were 216 plaintiffs and I could not represent them as a pro se litigant. The Hester Law Group volunteered to take the case and worked on our behalf for several more years. During that time I assisted whenever I could. I often mentioned to the attorneys at the Hester Law Group that as the named plaintiff and due to my years of work on this case, that if there was a monetary judgement in our favor, I requested that I receive one dollar, ($1), more than anyone else on this lawsuit. The case was eventually settled for $7.5 million. Hester Law Group received about $2.7 million and the rest was to be distributed among the remaining 206 plaintiffs. In the end, some plaintiffs received a third more than I was awarded and all they did was sign their name to the lawsuit. I devoted hundreds of hours on this case and spent money I could not afford to move it forward. Despite my often voiced request for $1 more than whomever received the most from the settlement, I ended up receiving less than most. Even though we were locked into a settlement formula by the state, the Hester Law Group could have easily dipped into their $2.7 million to address my reasonable request and could have found a way to compensate me as the named plaintiff for the years of work equal to the highest paid plaintiff. There would not have been a lawsuit or settlement without me. I feel that their response or lack thereof speak volumes to their integrity. I would not retain anyone evolved with the Hester Law Group if money is involved.
