It's been a few months since we switched over to a new insurance plan, but it only occurred to me last week that my husband and I are due for our dentist visits. So, I called Team Dental to schedule appointments for my husband and me. I did not think there would be any available openings and was expecting to wait 1-2 months before seeing our new dentist. To my surprise, the office manager, Lauren was able to squeeze us in for a weekday evening slot. All my life, I've had to wait 20 minutes or longer in the waiting room before the dentist/dental assistant sees me. But NOT at Team Dental. The dentist/dental assistant/dental hygienist was ready to see me pretty much as soon as I arrived. All the staff at Team Dental are very friendly and professional. My first dentist visit was with Dr. Muhammad. Not only was he super thorough with my examination but he had THE BEST bedside manner of any dentist I've ever seen. After my examination, he explained to me the condition of my teeth and explained why I needed a deep cleaning. I started to freak out about how bad my teeth were, but he was very reassuring and took time to show me photos of worst-case scenario gum disease and that I was nowhere near that. All I had to do was get the deep cleaning and floss a lot more. Cynthia, the dental hygienist who did the deep cleaning for me was amazing too. I was nervous before the deep cleaning because I've never had one done before, but she properly numbed me so that I did not feel any pain. Then she deep cleaned the **** out of my teeth. Never have my teeth felt so good and so clean!!! Seeing the dentalcare I'm getting at Team Dental made me realize what good dentalcare is like. My previous dentists did the bare minimum and were never this thorough. Up to yesterday, I thought my teeth were fine, but they really weren't! Also, Team Dental understands the urgency of the health of your teeth. If you are experiencing pain and the longer care is delayed, the worse your condition will get. They will try to get you in as soon as possible, no matter how busy they are. It is really a great feeling to know the health of your teeth is in good hands with Team Dental. read more

For all the good things I can say about Team Dental, we often come here to vent. They are good at what they do and I recommend the dentistry and doctor. I took umbrage with the business side of the practice for a consultation I had there for an obvious cavity that I wanted to be looked at. Their website said they do consultations so I called and went in. I sat down and the hygienist started to prep for a cleaning. I said no, I was there for a consultation only. They did one xray of the affected tooth, the dentist probed it and my mouth a bit, spending about seven minutes with me. The charge was $150. During the initial call for the appointment, the follow up call, and a call the morning of when they asked if I could come in earlier, there was never any mention of a consultation charge. I would have been far better off just getting a full cleaning and xrays for $250 or whatever it is and the 'consultation' would have been included. Of course, it's their right to charge whatever they want for whatever they do, but they should disclose on the website, or tell you on the phone "we may charge $150 for a brief consultation" for existing patients. read more

Dr. Jaffari is skillful, meticulous, and extremely professional. I couldn't be happier with my experience and the result. It has been about 10 years that I wanted to get this procedure done, and I had postponed it for so long because I was afraid to ruin my very problematic teeth, and worried about the entire process. This could not have gone smoother and more pleasantly than it did, especially considering the extent of this procedure. Throughout the process, Dr. Jaffari was transparent about everything, he demonstrated true skill, pedantry and kindness. The result is just beautiful, so much better than anything I could hope for. I had a horrible experience with Team Dental. I had an appointment for teeth whitening on 2/18/20. A Team Dental representative called me the night before my appointment and said they had to cancel because Dr. Jaffari just notified her that he couldn't come in the next day. I thought this last minute cancellation was poor customer service, but I figured that situations arise, so I accepted rescheduling. My rescheduled appointment was at 10:00 am on 2/25/20. I arrived at 9:50 am on 2/25/20 only to find the office locked with no one inside. I waited outside in the pouring rain for a half hour to see if anyone would show. I called Team Dental several times and left voicemails as I waited. Since no one answered or returned my calls, I finally called Team Dental's alleged emergency number. A woman answered the emergency number and angrily told me that this was a residential number and that other people attempting to contact Team Dental had called her as well. I finally left, in shock of the whole situation. I uploaded the text messages to show my appointment confirmations as well as my call log from the day of my 2/25/20 appointment. So like many of us humans, I have a love/hate relationship with dentists. My long time dentist retired and I decided to go with Team Dental for my needs. What I appreciate most about the office is that they are 100% transparent with costs, what they do, how they do it, checking insurance before procedures, etc. My dentist was sweet on my teeth and gave me some good insight that I didn't even get from previous dentists. Dr. Selina is also awesome, she checked out my cavities and didn't hit me with "let's see how much we can rack up on these cavities." We got a plan popping and I'm cool with it. I'll definitely recommend team dental in the future and I'll be back to get my fillings/cavities taken care of without hesitation. read more

Everyone in the office was so nice and it truly makes the experience much more enjoyable. Dr Salena is the dentist I've been working with and she has been nothing but professional, attentive, and addressed every concern I had. Unprofessional and they have no real concept of service. Will not return a phone call if you need help or have an issue. If they do answer they will say they will get back to you by the end of the day or someone else will call you back they don't know the answer or have to ask the dentist. They won't work with insurance, that's on you to call if they expect to be paid for services they overcharge. Will call and text you out of the blue late at night to upsell you on services without permission. If you like coming here, you probably have money to burn and are wishy-washy about details to begin with. If you work harder for your money and expect when people say they're going to do something and then do it, find somewhere else. ALWAYS ASK FOR A BILL! The insurance submission, etc. doesn't matter as I learned the hard way there were many things to be questioned in terms of what they were billing me for, more than one error occurred. One girl was very good at her job as a hygenist, but unfortunately, the cons outweigh the pros here. read more

UPDATE: My friend finally found the time to stop by this dental office to address the reoccurring billing issues. After calling his insurance, he found out that the office DID IN FACT already bill for the services provided (they had already had been paid from the insurance) AND the office was still charging him for the same services his insurance already paid for. When he walked in the receptionist looked at the invoice and said "this is fine" and said he would not have to pay. So the office isn't capable of just calling patients back??? Additionally, he asked about a service from a few months back that he paid for out-of-pocket.. His insurance told him to get a refund because this dental office double charged him for this too -- still waiting to hear back from this "amazing team" at TeamDental about this $60 refund on services they made him pay for. If you are dealing with this same issue, they have a person working at this office that is solely for billing issues -- call your insurance ASAP to make sure they have not been stealing your money!!! read more

I found this place on Groupon and decided to try it. I came away with mixed feelings. I don't think I will return as a regular patient. I had some issues from the start. They use an answering service to schedule appointments and they have no idea what is going on. When I called, the lady bumbled around and it took her awhile to schedule the appointment. Then, they told me appointment times weren't available but when I called back later they were. Then they scheduled me for the wrong day and time. This was all before I even got there! Once I made it in, the actual dental experience was good. The facility is clean and the staff is skilled and friendly. However, the doctor did a strongggg upsell for more services at the end. I mean, I get it, you're using Groupon for lead generation but maybe go a little bit softer on the multi-thousand dollar upsell. read more

I was extremely disappointed with this clinic. I came in initially due to their $400 family plan which Includes 4 cleanings and 4 x rays for 2 adults. My husband came in and they insisted that after we paid for the family plan, he needed an additional $1000 scaling procedure before they could clean his teeth. The clinic tried to convince me of the same until I asked please may I have just the cleaning for today. When I asked why do they need to do a scaling before a cleaning, the dental hygienist couldn't tell me. The dentist wanted to fit me for a mouth guard and a new retainer because he said my teeth have shifted. Bottom line: felt extremely unhappy with our visit and felt like the staff was trying to have us spend as much money as possible. Very disappointed. read more

I absolutely love TeamDental! I have had horrible experiences at the dentist in the past, and I can't even begin to explain how great my first visit was. Lea, the hygienist, put me totally at ease and had a great conversation with me the entire time about what she was doing. She did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable, and she left me much more educated than I had been when I entered! Dr. Jaffari was quick, yet thorough, and was more than willing to answer all of my questions and offer tips. Other pros include an affordable 6-month treatment plan, Invisalign/whitening, cookies when you leave, computer check-in, the fact that it's right next to my apartment (or anyone near the Piazza)..and a really cool tiny camera that takes pictures of your teeth. My boyfriend went to Team Dental with an urgent problem. His crown had fallen off and he was in pain. I have never had a dentist experience like the one I had this week at Team Dental. As soon as you walk in the door you are treated like their most important patient. I really like the computer based sign-in and medical questionnaire for first time patients because it was super easy to use and way better than filling out 20 pages of paper questionnaires when you are a new patient at most doctor/dentist's offices. The office itself has a very cool vibe like you are just coming in to hang out. There are TVs at each chair (I think only 2 chairs) for your entertainment while getting a cleaning. Leah, the hygienist that I had, was great! She made it a point to explain everything she was doing during the initial new patient x-rays and photographs (really cool technology that I had never seen before) as well as during the cleaning/polishing. She was very meticulous and detailed during the cleaning and polishing as well - a sign she obviously takes pride in her work. Dr. Jafari was also great at explaining what he saw during the check-up. I learned more about dentistry and teeth in that one check-up than I had in all of my previous check-ups at other dentists. By the end of the visit, the entire staff felt like friends who you were hanging out with, they just also happened to be really proficient in dentistry. I was even asked if I wanted to go out after my appointment (last one of the day) for some wings! I couldn't recommend Team Dental enough. read more

Let me start by saying that I absolutely hate going to the dentist office. I havent been in years, due to not being able to find someone I trusted not to just jack hammer my mouth! I've had some very bad experiences to say the least. That being said... I woke up Saturday to blood pooling in my mouth and had no choice but to find a dentist immediately. After searching my insurance provider's website for 'in network', I narrowed the choice down to two different offices. After further researching them through a few other sites, I figured I'd try Team Dental first and leave the other office as a back up plan. I called them up last minute, and they got me scheduled within 48 hours! Not an easy feat in a city of 1.5 million and growing! When I entered the office, the staff was friendly and courteous. Once I filled out the first time visitor information on the computer, they had me in a chair within minutes. All of my x-rays were done in about 10 minutes. After going over my dental history, and my reason for coming in, they determined a plan of action and started the work. After the cleaning, the doctor reviewed the work and gave me a second examination to further detail the plan and address any immediate concerns. They were professional, empathetic, articulate, and straight to the point in a way that was very detailed and understanding, while being encouraging. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my experience. I still hate going to the dentist, but I'm looking forward to my next visit! read more

I will be factual because I'm very frustrated by my experience tonight, and I don't have anything nice to say. 1. Every time my husband and I have gone to Team Dental there has been unnecessary or incorrect charges on one or both of our bills. You need to make sure you really study your bills when they come in the mail after your appointment. I was already skeptical of them for this, but we kept going out of convenience due to proximity. 2. They are charging a PPE fee now that our insurance doesn't cover. I don't know if that's normal, but I just thought people might be interested in knowing. 3. I know about the PPE fee because in the past week my husband and I got phone calls and text messages confirming our appointment for tonight at 7pm that we made six months ago. We both confirmed our appointment, and even got an additional confirmation text today, the day of the appointment. However, when we showed up, they said they actually only had an appointment available for one of us. This was not something they just figured out today. They said to my husband "we tried to call you to tell you we didn't have a hygienist for you on August 21st". My husband says he didn't get any message from them, but then shows them a confirmation text he got on August 31st reminding him about his appointment. She said "oh well the girl didn't know". I don't know what that means. Then we asked why they didn't let us know today that they didn't have appointments for us, and why did they' send each of us a text today confirming appointments. She told us that they were just "hopeful" someone would cancel. Again, I'm trying to be factual, so I won't even bother expressing the thoughts and feelings that went through my head about that. I will just say that my husband and I have jobs and we don't typically make "hopeful" appointments. So if you want to make appointments six months in advance and confirm your appointment multiple times and plan your week around appointments just to show up and not have one then this is the dentist for you. 4. Denteek down the street is the best dentist ever. If your insurance covers both, you should 100% pick Denteek. They have the best and most modern equipment, private rooms, and It did not hurt at all when they were performing any services at Denteek. My insurance doesn't cover them anymore which is why I had switched to Team Dental. Team Dental uses X-ray equipment from 1975 (sorry this seems like an opinion but it's definitely not modern), hurts (also an opinion oops), and it is impossible to make appointments. read more

My husband brought me into Team Dental even though we live in New York City. My first point of contact was the receptionist who walked me through the self checkin process. The office is clean and very welcoming. Wow I never thought the dentist could be an enjoyable experience for me! I was treated very well and was informed step by step on everything that was being done during the appointment. It was nice to get some education on what was being done and didn't give me the feel like I was just another body in a chair.
