Was so excited to have found this class and my son was really enjoying it. We wanted to continue and asked about other options. They offered a semi-private option, but they then tried to up-charge us more money to continue and nickeling and diming us the entire interaction. We had wanted to stay, but they clearly did not value our business when they made little attempt at retaining us or offering other alternatives. Seems like they just wanted to give us the refund to get us out of their hair and Instead they took that as an opportunity to try to get more money out of us. Kiddo loved the classes, but service and accountability was not there, super disappointing.

This is a long due review. I love this coder school. My daughter enjoys it. If you have a child…read morethat is curious, or interested in coding this is the place. Allen the manager will evaluate if it's a fit for your child to attend the school. He told us this is something serious, they don't want you wasting their time and your money too. My daughter has been coding since she's 8 with them. She's 12 now and still enjoys doing it. She was able to continue her lessons during pandemic over Zoom. They are very accommodating. I told him we might be moving, she might need to do remote again. He's willing to work with us on that should we need it. If you can't make a lesson, just give them 24 hours notice, then you won't be charged. My husband and I don't code, we don't help my daughter out. Sometimes she would get a little homework, because I ask for it. Overall you get your money's worth and everyone there is super nice too. The place is clean too.

Lawmakers should investigate UCSF pediatric dentistry. They assigned or allowed students without…read morelicense to individually work on kids without "direct" supervision of any "licensed" dentist. That's against the law!!!!! DIRECT supervision should be each individual has a mentor and working side by side every minute, not a big room divided into many areas for unlicensed students to work on children for a long time, then a licensed dentist walk around those areas to say hi or stop by any specific student less than 3 minutes. Is it called "direct supervision"? Last year, UCSF billed insurance $1350 for a simple check up and done by a FIRST year dental student WITHOUT direct supervision. The supervisor came in to say hi for less than a minute then left. So $1350 for less than one hour of a first year dental student who didn't have a license? Not only that, the student caused stains on the kid's teeth and said cavity. Then, she quickly took 1 or 2 photos with her personal phone and we found out that they charged $100 for those 1 or 2 photos. Did she ever tell the parents a photo could cost $50-$100? Then the remaining $1250 was for first year dental student's work or for less than 1 minute saying hi of the supervisor who didn't supervise? And what kind of work costs $1250? If they want to lie to say complex work, they would seriously get in bigger trouble because they assigned the unlicensed first year dental student without direct supervision to work on the kid. If they say, simple work, then why $1250 for no license, no experience work? This year, they didn't bill the insurance yet, but again the inexperienced work of another FIRST year student brought up many concerns that at the end of the meeting, she admitted by herself that she is a FIRST year resident and UNLICENSED. And again, no direct supervision. How many kids have been used for UCSF students' experiments with the overpriced charges of the inexperienced and unlicensed work without direct supervision????

I am reviewing only the pediatric dentistry experience here…read more I decided to bring my son here because we have been using UCSF for medical services since prenatal care. The dental visit itself was fine and quick, no prolonged agony for a tot. But I'm dinging one star from my review because this school, which is training specialists in pediatric dentistry, has no good waiting area for families: the pediatric waiting area is a joke! Any semblance of toys is stuck behind the check-in counter high on shelves, and you don't really dare ask for toys because the receptionists on headsets are busy and may glare. Luckily, for pediatric patients, the exam rooms are more child-friendly and have fun things to look at and play with. The pediatric dentist I saw with my son was a very capable dentist, and I would return to see her or another specialist. Parents, if you decide to take kids here, bring a bag of toys for your wait time. Philanthropists, this school of dentistry badly needs a proper pediatric setting for its pediatric dentist specialty.

Kids are under so much pressure these days compared to when I was in school. Granted that was a…read morelong time ago but it is true. My daughter is in the sixth grade and pretty much a straight A student, except for math. She began slipping behind this past semester and was getting a C in math. This stressed her out far more than me however I convinced her and myself that we could tackle this together. That was until I learned the hard way that this common core BS it literally the most confusing math I have ever encountered. We gave it a week of me trying to teach myself and then her. And then another week of me getting absolutely frustrated. And then by the end of the second week I threw in the towel and started searching for tutors. Initially I was set on getting her a private tutor like I had done for my son 8 years prior. To my surprise and horror? Private tutors were running upward of $140 for an hour of in home tutoring. Ok. They make more than I do. I then decided that was insane and I switched gears settling on Sylvan at West Portal. The start up was pain free, she had her assessment and then headed full steam ahead with the small group math tutoring 2 days per week. There was only 2 months of school left, she had a C- in math going into it and finished the semester with a solid B. The best part of all was the confidence boost she got along with that B. The staff at Sylvan were friendly, easy to communicate with and never tried to push packages on us that we didn't need. Her assessment was so helpful in that it picked up area's where she needed help that she didn't know she even needed help in. The prices were very competitive and although I was hoping to get her the 1:1 tutoring I was limited by the cost and reassured that she would likely do just as well with the small groups. They were correct. There was not a single tutor that Lily did not click with. They were all patient and kind providing updates along the way with her progress. It was all around a great experience and she will definitely return for the math homework group in the Fall. I would recommend Sylvan to anyone who's child is falling behind in a subject and needs a boost. The money spent was well worth it and my girl went into the summer feeling great about herself and her grades.
