Took a friends tablet (a wacom mobilestudio pro) in while they were out of town, no other tech repair place would touch it. We've had bad experiences with them in the past, but being the ONLY place that would assist us we didn't have any options. I'll keep it short as to what happened: -It took longer than they said, they never called to update us -the person doing the repairs took the swollen almost exploding battery out, then put it directly back into the device -there's visible damage around the screen where they pried it off to get to the battery -The tablet works without the battery, we were told it would not. -Upon realizing I shouldn't have trusted anything about them, I plugged it in and it turned on but -The screen is broken right down the middle, i don't think they bothered to soften the glue, but crowbarred it out of the device. do NOT take anything you value to this place. EVEN if its cheap or convenient or anything. They will destroy it every time. (this is 3 times for us) With this many 1 star experiences I'm shocked they're still here. read more

I brought my computer to Techville on Jan. 2 2024 to be repaired. I was told it would take 2 weeks and was required to pay upfront. I usually don't like to pay upfront for a service I have not received. I agreed to 2 weeks and made arrangements to perform my work on an iPad however can't perform all functions on IPad. Called Techville In Oakville on Jan. 12 2024 to make sure computer would be ready, told part hand not been delivered and they hand no way to track the part, totally incompetent. Called back today Jan. 17 2024 and told the same thing still waiting on a part. What can't a company the size of Techville track a part and why did Techville not call me to discuss the delay? I don't like being lied to and the manager there (not the owner but the day manager) lied to me about a pricing issue. They have a big sign that says that they will beat all competition within Halton by 15%. I received 3 quotes elsewhere in Halton for fixing of the Note 8 screen that were all quoted the same price at $420. I asked the day manager if he would beat that price by 15% as per the large sign in the window. Not only would he not beat the quoted prices I obtained, he would not even match it. He told me the lowest they could do would be $520. When I pointed out the sign he said that the sign states, "some conditions apply" in small lettering. Well, that lettering is either microscopic or it isn't there. Him telling me that the sign says, "some conditions apply" when I can see that it does not is lying to me and I don't like that. I offered to give him the phone numbers of the stores that gave me the quotes but he wasn't interested. This doesn't affect my life too much as I'll just go to the competition to get the lower price. I used to love this place: quality work at a reasonable price. That changed today when I took in my iPad that was working but had a small amount of condensation under the screen (only visible when turned on). I asked if they could open the iPad and dry it out. I was told that the only solution was to replace the screen ($550) or buy a replacement ($825). When I balked at that I was told that they could reduce the screen replacement to $399. I was told that there was no other course of action. Now I'm an older woman but not that stupid! Now at home I have removed the SIM card, placed the iPad in front of a fan, and presto, all fixed! took in my ipad to get a new clean charge port..before this visit never had an issue with anything..after they opened it and put a new charge port i took it home i paid 135 for the port...i got home and the ipad was starting to come apart right away and had a bend in it that it never had before..i put books on top to cement the glue and tried to use it but it no longer works on wifi or bluetooth because they messed it up when they had it open..i brought it back and told them they had broken my ipad all they did was call to say it had critical damage and that the chip for the bluetooth was bent and could not be repaired...they never took responsibility for the damage they caused and now i have to buy a new ipad..typical of these kinda places go in with small issues and leave with a bunch of issues..i'll see them in small claims court read more

My partner brought his laptop here last year. They held it for three days to "run tests" (leave it idling on the work table to see if anything happened) before telling him they had no idea what was wrong with it. He later described the same issues to a Future Shop worker and they immediately knew that his hard drive was going, which turned out to be the problem. Despite this, when my laptop charger started acting up, we decided to give them a second chance because of how many good reviews the business had and the hurry we were in to get the issue solved, since I work from home in a deadline based job using said laptop. We thought maybe the bad experience had just been a fluke. I took it in, explained that I worried the laptop charging port was broken (as a replacement cable I got off Amazon didn't work) and when they asked if there was anything else I wanted them to check out, I mentioned my laptop was a little slow to start up, so if they noticed why when running tests I'd love to know. Turns out, it was just two bum chargers in a row and my laptop was fine. It was slow because it was behind on updates and starting too many programs when it turned on, which are both problems I could have fixed myself if they'd just told me, but instead they went ahead and did it for me and then charged me about $100 for it. I was frustrated because I hadn't asked them to fix the problem if they found it, I had just mentioned in passing that it was something I noticed when they asked if there were other issues, so that was money I hadn't expected to pay for work I could have done myself. They also sold me a charger I found out later that I could have gotten online for about $20 for nearly $80 after going on a tirade about how crappy third party chargers are. At the time, despite being out almost $200 dollars I couldn't really afford at the time for what felt like a problem I could have mostly fixed by myself, I tried to be content because the employees had been cheerful and friendly and installed some free malware software for me, though they admitted that they had gotten the program for free as well. The charger they sold me was finicky and disconnected if I so much as brushed it, but I was so stressed I just wanted to get on with my life. However, barely a month later, the charger is badly overheating and barely working anymore. This is the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Two miserable visits, a lot of wasted money, and me back where I started. I'm sure someone is going to reply to this post like they have the other one star reviews, but we just don't trust this company enough to take another chance with them. Don't go here for data recovery for your mac - first rate scam artists. The say they do it and also offer a rush charge to have it done fast which I paid the $100 for expecting to have it done in a few hours. All they did was open my macbook pro, and then call me to tell me they send macs out to a lab for data recovery and it will be another $350 and over a week to have my files recovered. If I knew that when they sold me their rush diagnostic and fix service I would have just walked out and found something cheaper and faster in Toronto but I've already committed $100 to these guys and got played like a fool and will end up likely dropping close to $500 when all is said and done. If I could rate lower than a 1 star I would. Lesson learned, I should have read the reviews deeper - lots of people here saying they lie about pricing and service, but I got fooled by what looks like a bunch of fake and self-written 5 star reviews. read more

It is either defective or poorly made because It will not fill up completely, making it not sturdy whatsoever and impossible to stand up on. I have emailed multiple times and no one will answer me. Absolute shit service and management. I would absolutely never go back or recommend them to anyone.Very careless with their work and completely inconsiderate of time or customer service. I manage my own business and clients so I understand the importance of good service first hand. I will absolutely praise someone for quality service and work, and show my appreciation, I never come in as a disgruntled customer - however, if I am given enough legitimate reasoning, I am not afraid to be blunt in person and honest in open review,. Their prices are alright, but more competitive across the street or at Oakville Tech (Also better service, Jaz is the man!, definitely worth it). Techville is just not worth the hassle. I had a perfectly fine Samsung S3 which I got from a friend for 50$, I found out at techville it wasn't compatible with WIND (why i went), because I cannot afford to be without a phone in a client run business, I traded the and paid an extra 200$ for an S3S. I also bough a macbook Pro giving them over 1200 in business in one day (not bartering for price negotiations because I thought it was fair). I had to take time to leave work on four occasions that week because they did not give me a charger, then gave me a dis functioning charger (for a different laptop), then when I called to come back told me they thought they had more, but didn't so I recieved an old beat up charger in the back. I told them I would call to check when they had a new one - making it my third trip back and forth. The S3S battery and port both broke within 6 weeks - normally I would go back, but I do not have time to waste, I paid the 75$ elsewhere to fix it, no hassle. A month later the phone motherboard was done, overheating, non - fixable. I was ready to bite the bullet and not step foot back in there until I was convinced otherwise. After paying and extra 280 and upgrading to an unlocked Iphone 5c, I had to go back in because it wasn't properly unlocked (luckily I was still in my car - got smart this time). When the manager Raph gave me the phone I made it a silent point to open the charger in front of him, which guess what, was the wrong one and he forgot a cable, which would've cost me another trip to leave work. I'll tell you what I told him - it is this kind of carelessness and little things that can and will drive people away from your business. I had a 2pm appointment and gave myself an hour and a half grace just in case they fucked up. got to my appointment at 2:05... everything here could've been easily avoided with simple customer service. read more

My bf and I went here and purchased a Google Pixel which was sold to us as the "best phone on the market" by the sales guy. I went on a trip the very next day and the second week one morning I woke up and the phone kept restarting. I went back into Techville and they said they need it for "a few hours" and gave me a loaner. They ended up keeping the phone for 7 days plus the loaner they gave me - the speaker didn't work so I could not make or accept calls for the entire week. I called Techville multiple times every day and was assured they would fix the issue. Finally, on day 7, they finally admitted they couldn't fix the phone. They tried to sell me another phone telling me now that "Android is the best phone." We got our money back and ran. Terrible service. Took them an outsourcing and over a week to decipher that something had spilled on my MacBook pro. Two of the parts (hard-drive and track pad) that they provided me with during the replacement have broken since the end of August. There's a complete lack of communication throughout the business - whenever I called, no associates even knew that my computer was being fixed and instead provided me with the manager's personal cell number. The manager never called me to update me on the progress of my computer until I called him several times at both the store and on his cell phone. Needless to say, it's a headache. read more

Do not go here for cell phone repairs. They rip you off. I took my cell phone in for a new screen even though the phone was still working fine. They fixed the screen and from there on in my phone would only work in their store. lol They then yelled at me saying my phone was water damaged. It was not water damaged. I had been warned about them doing this and before I took the phone in I took a picture (time stamped) of the green dot inside the phone to prove no water damage. The phone was expensive. They refused to fix it after taking 128 dollars. They then offered me a very cheap 125 dollar ZTE fanfare phone. The very next week there was my HTC phone for sale there for 200. They are con artists. Oh and you can go across the street on Sheppard ave. (near organic garage) and get your computers fixed for less than half the price that Techville charges. read more

I am very sorry to say techville sold me a stolen iphone4S, the tech there swapped my sim card so my billing stayed the same . After 8 months I upgraded to an iphone 5 .Tried to hook up my Iphone 4s purchase from techville for my daughter and Bell tells me its stolen purchased for $. 349.00 I paid for a stolen phone . I talked to the manager he said more or less too bad I waited to long to come back in . How would I ever have known when it was there tech that just swapped sim card so my bell account just kept running until new phone . Now I have a 349.00 I pod NICE . Beware , my stolen phone is unable to be hooked up by any carrier . I would never expect this to happen , if so the mangement should have helped me out after all they sold me the phone . read more

My experience with Techville has been less than terrible. Their customer service has been by far, the worst I have ever experienced. I purchased a sony xperia Z from Techville as well as the unlocking of the phone. While I was there, one of the employees had the ignorance to actually ask me who THEIR phone was locked to. I answered with "Bell". I said this, because I think that Bell is the only carrier to hold this phone. You would think a tech company, would know the carrier of the phone that THEY are selling. I let that go. I didn't make a big deal about that. I was told that by Saturday the phone would be unlocked (I bought it on Thursday). I heard nothing all of Saturday from them, so on Sunday I proceeded to contact them. I was told that they were having difficulties unlocking it (Why? It's your stores phone). Monday I once again called and was told that I would get a call back and heard nothing. It is now Tuesday and I just got off a 35 minute phone call with them. They tried to once again give me the "We will call you back shortly with the answer". Didn't let that happen, so I was put on hold numerous times (nothing too too long though. 5 minutes most). I found the verdict near the end of the conversation. This was that THE PHONE HAS BEEN DONE! It was finished. So why didn't I receive a call once? The reasons I am furious are as followed: 1. I had a verbal contract that the phone would be finished by Saturday but yet I have not found out it was ready until Tuesday 2. I was told on numerous occasions that I would receive a phone call back, and not once did it happen(on top of that when i asked management directly they refused to answer why this happened he ignored that question repeatedly and put me on hold again) 3. I never received a phone call from them saying the status of my phone 4. I never received one apology I guess I give it a one star because it is at least cheap, but shouldn't fake items and terrible customer service be cheap. read more

I have happily dealt with this company for many years, but it must now be under new management, who do not hold the same business practices as before. I asked for one computers files etc. to be transferred to another, it took a while even though they said eight hours, when I received the computer back it did not seem like everything was transferred. I called Techvilles owner who said he had no idea what was happening in his business, and the old computer had already been destroyed but did not offer the stick which held the files. He said he would get back to me, but has never bothered. I am concerned about security. Sadly I had waited to get back to Canada from Florida to get this operation completed as I trusted this company, but not any more....be wary. I was looking to sell my Nikon D300s camera (a professional photography camera) and e-mailed the store just on a whim to see if they would purchase it. I was told to bring the camera in and have Abdul look at it. So I emailed back and told them I would be going in the following day. No answer. So I went in on Sunday and was told to come back the next day because Abdul was not in and the guys there couldn't tell me how much I could get for the camera. Waste of a trip, would have been great if they told me that when I said in the email that I would be stopping by. I live far by the way, about an hour from the store so it's not like it's an easy trip. It was basically a whole afternoon wasted. So as soon as I left I emailed them again and told them the situation. I said it would be great if you could give me an idea of how much I could get for the camera to save me a trip again since I don't live close. No one answered my e-mail again. So I went in again today, the gentlemen looked at my camera and told me he couldn't give me anything for it and that was it. When I got home they had responded to my e-mail telling me they couldn't give me what I wanted for the camera. GREAT. I am unbelievably pissed off. I could have saved two days of unnecessary trips and a lot of gas if these people would just answer an e-mail. So unprofessional and careless. They don't give a crap about customer service. And the sad and frustrating thing is this place will never change because it's independently owned and the manager doesn't give a crap. Don't go here. I took my girlfriend's cell phone in for repairs back in Oct.23.2016. It needed a new screen because she had cracked it.(Samsung 4 mini ) I was given a price to repair... But the counter person told me that for a few dollars more I could get a Brand New Phone... but not a Samsung brand.I said that's OK show me what you have. (simple right) I ended up leaving (Happy) with a Brand New Phone they transferred all her contact's and photo's to the new phone great job !!! . Well 7 short month's later the phone wouldn't turn on... Completely dead... with or without the charger plugged in. She took it back with the invoice 57449. End of April this year. First of all the counter person accused her of dropping it...she didn't.. no marks at all... then he said the screen was scratched,...It wasn't.... just normal wear and tear. (Techville was to order me a case for it that's a whole new story) Then the counter person told her it needed a new screen after checking it out. Totaling $180.00 + HST. She came home disappointed.Not fixed !!! Being a bit of a tecky myself I took the back off the phone just to have a peek. Well to my surprise the date on the battery was 04/2014 !!!! Would you buy a New Phone with a battery already 21/2 years old Probably not RIGHT!!!!!! Not me if I was told... So i went back and spoke to a manager had a discussion.... Got NO where not ever a discounted price for fixing it.... Was told about the warranty policy's BLAH BLAH.... I get it. So My New Phone was out of warranty when I bought it...... Right... For your own sanity I would reccomend to avoid this place. I spent nearly $200 to have a cell phone screen replaced only to have it die two months later. Conveniently for them their warranty on their repairs is a mere 30 days. The customer service is essentially awful as the owner of the company has told me that they do not cover future repairs on faulty work beyond 30 days. I called them to get a price on my broken LCD for my November 2014 Macbook Pro Retina 13'' and they told me its $250, which is amazing. Then I go there and they tell me its $450 and it will take 2 weeks to get fixed, I was annoyed but decided to go through with it. Three weeks later they call me and tell me it will now cost $850 to fix, even when it was a week late. Don't waste your time and go somewhere else. Dropped my iphone 5 off (lock button needed replaced) they told me same day return, but possibly next day. I called the next day an hour before closing time, they said it was going to be two more days!!!! I was furious, I said I'm coming to pick up my phone. They said that wasn't possible because the tech had started the job the day before and my phone was disassembled and he wouldn't be in till tomorrow! WTF!!!!! After telling them they shouldn't have taken my phone and told me a time frame, they assured me it would be ready the next day. Went to pick up my phone and it was done, half way home I tried putting it back in it's case and realized it was super tight. It turns out they didn't put my phone back together correctly and the glass was out of the frame at the top! So back i went again! These guys change prices and put the extra money in their pocket it's happened a few time now because I have returned and got different prices from different workers they are all scammers who just want to try and take as much money as they can. Typed words cannot convey how strongly I would recommend that you do NOT go to Techville for any type of technical repair service or purchase of a technical device. Communicating with them is a headache, and I initially spent several weeks waiting on a call back before finally have them diagnose my phone with water damage. A friend of mine bought a used phone from one of their technicians that he was assured had been kept in brand new condition with no more than a couple of weeks use. The protective casing on the phone had been damaged prior to purchase as he found out shortly after. Over the next week he experienced battery complications, issues charging the phone, and eventually brought it back after it shut off completely, only to have them diagnose the problem as, you guessed it! Water damage. His call was not returned for a number of weeks and when he finally complained they reluctantly changed his battery and solved the problem on the spot. He had the charging port changed one other time after, in which case they also neglected to contact him within their projected time of repair, and charged him with nearly one hundred dollars for changing his charging port. The port stopped working only days after this repair. Employee's seem rude and uninvolved when it comes to customers, and have an apparent reputation of laughing or replying sarcastically when met with inquiries about purchasing people's used electronics. My experience with Techville warrants a rating of no stars, sadly that is not an option. read more
