I gave this place a 4 star because the service was great and the portion sizes are massive. If it wasn't for these I would have maybe given it a 3 star. We had the turkey dinner and the meat platter. The stuffing on the turkey dinner was crunchy and tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The only issue I had with the meat platter was that the description said it came with a burger amongst other items. When it arrived I was shocked to see that the burger was just the patty with no bun or any toppings. If you want good service, huge portions for a great price, check this place out. read more

The Garden of Eden Salad is everything you want in a Classic Julienne. You get a nice scoop of their deliciously homemade potato salad with it, too. Expensive, but HUGE. I was recommended to go to Teddy's for a good turkey dinner, so I decided to go and see what it's all about.. They do not have any type of bread on the menu, which I wanted some garlic bread but I was out of luck. Instead they bring a roll with every meal. It was stale! You would assume since everything comes with a roll they would be at least fresh.... You have a choice between soup or salad and I ended up getting the soup which was chicken vegetable. It came in a very small odd shaped bowl and was a bit salty but I did finish the bowl and I am glad because... The turkey gravy was horrible, I don't know what they use but it looked bright yellow and tasted like oil, reminded me of butter! I love turkey, but this gravy ruined the whole plate for me.. I have never tasted anything like it before.. The stuffing was burnt and the potatoes were very bland and lifeless. I don't think I would be running back to Oshawa anytime soon for turkey dinner. read more

I'm surprised by the low reviews from some people on this diner. however i noticed they have only done 2 or 3 reviews, and they are in the burbs so their palates aren't spread across the city or the outer skirts of the GTA, or the Toronto area at all. I met my Mommy who lives in Oshawa, (i live downtown t.O.) for lunch many times. I have never enjoyed any meal outside T.O. with her. It's like a cesspool of crap out there beyond the 401 passed Leslie. Teddy's is an excellent diner, wished it was in Toronto, we had the corn beef on a bun with fries and the hot turkey dinner with mash and gravy (comes with a salad and lovely pickled beets). The portions are Huge, $11.95 for turkey, and $7.95 plus $2 for fries on corn beef. The serving staff is fast and efficient. Maybe not chatty cathy's but they get the job done. We got a coconut cream pie to go $11 no tax, enough for twelve people. The guy beside us had a small greek salad that could have feed an entire greek village. the place is 1980"s dated, the staff is 50+, the price are 1990"s along with the portions. I loved it. everything a diner should be. In Toronto we have fancy "diners" like the ace, or the lakeview, or rosedale diner, or mutual street diner, all are just ok. small portions, huge prices and everything you could make at home. not that you couldn't make the stuff from Teddy's, but if i want a hot roast turkey i don't want to cook a whole bird for myself. and someone mentioned their mash didn't taste good, well they were perfect buttery salty pepper mess. Teddy's has been around for 30 years for a reason; good, consistent, comfort food. My go-to's are any of the Hot Sandwiches, Chicken/Veal Parm or a deli sandwich; their breakfast is pretty good as well. Large portions are a bonus as their pricing is pretty reasonable. Still on diet mode so I can't try the full gamut of the restaurant. I had their steam broiled salmon with some mashed potatoes and cream of broccoli soup. The soup was good, the mashed potatoes were okay but nothing to write home about. The salmon was a bit of a disappointment, it was pretty bland and does not really feel anything special for the price we paid. Since the salmon was shared with my wife I didn't feel like I had enough of a meal so I ordered their fresh julienne salad with their house dressing. The house dressing came on the side in a big bottle and I was wondering why it was so large. That is until the salad arrived. For under $10 the thing was huge. I is practically a meal on its own. I love Teddy's, anyone raised in Oshawa loves it here. Doesn't matter what time of day you go a 20 minute line is considered short. Please don't ever come here not expecting a line. It is an extremely friendly line you never have to worry about insane torontonians pushing forward or trying to sneak around you. I always get the turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, peas and side salad with the obvious choice for the hardcore Shawafians the house dressing. I personally love the dressing but I grew up on it. My partner who grew up in Toronto can't stand the dressing. I think it might be an Oshawa thing. The stuffing is amazing, same as the rest of the food. It's all homemade food with fresh ingredients. This has been a staple on Oshawa for over 30 years. I grew up eating here all the time. It's not just the food at Teddy's it's the atmosphere. I always have a lot of leftover turkey and I make turkey soup with it and include the stuffing. read more

My family has been going to Teddy's for years, starting with my Grandfather who always used to disappear once a week on a Saturday afternoon. We found out later that he was sneaking Fried Liver and Onions dinners. I've been to Teddy's nearly 20 times in the last 7 years, going over 15 times between 2012 and 2013. Teddy's menu is very strong in 2 areas and it really forms the foundation of what their restaurant is built on. As the name suggests, the first area is deli. I've tried the smoked meat sandwich, the roast beef, and the turkey, and each one is great. The meat quality is really good as I do believe they do their own in house smoking and roasting. The second area they are strong in is traditional western style family dinners. Roast Beef, Turkey, Meat Loaf, Salisbury Steak, and all the trimmings that come along with it are all 4-5 star worthy in their respected class of food. The soups are also good and from what I understand, homemade (the soups change daily). Items I have also tried frequently are the fillet of sole (sub par), The Garden of Eden Salad (awesome, although I do have have an issue that the House Dressing although homemade and delicious does contain MSG), The weekend special Salmon dinner with Spinach (a decent attempt but out of the element of what Teddy's is good at), Caesar salad (hard to get wrong, good), The liver and onions (great!), and the burgers (decent). The desserts are also great and homemade although limited in selection. The portions of everything are quite sizable and are definitely great value. The speed of service is top of its class and is something to be recognized for. The waitresses are good at what they do and must serve multiple dozens of customers each day, the restaurant functions like a well tuned operation when you go during a rush. On a Friday or Saturday dinner, The wait is usually about 15 to 30 minutes, and frequently comes out the front door. Teddy's does not serve alcohol and tries to maintain a family oriented atmosphere. Being friends with 2 of the waitresses before they started working there, I have come to understand that the majority of customers are loyalists and are usually 40-50+. I want to reiterate. Teddy's is nothing fancy, and nothing innovative, nor should it be. It is just good old home cooked style food like grandma used to make, and the fact that they stick to that and do it so well is what makes them a great place to dine at. read more

The service was great they are very friendly and warm. They served our food within 15 minutes and it was especially convenient because we were eating in between our 2 hockey games. The egg was good it was scrumptiously moist, the potatoes were a little under cooked and not enough salt and was to sweet. The burger was meh but the bacon on it was salty and savoury, the burger was a over cooked and not enough pinkness. I also had fresh rosted beef, vegetables were to watery you could tell it came out of a frozen package. Overall this food was a bit of a disapointment. 10 dollars this place is cray cray. read more

Albeit I don't eat huge portions; but a regular portion anywhere else is doubled easily here and the meat is perfect! This is a fantastic family restaurant with a wide variety of menu items sure to please every appetite. The wait staff is experienced and super friendly making sure that your visit is going to be a delight. Even the prices are fantastic considering the wonderful food offerings and portions you receive. If there is an issue, Teddy's is quite popular and can get very busy at times... to the point of being lined up right out the door. If you want a big meal, for a good price but don't care too much about quality, this is the place for you. The chicken parmigiana tastes and looks like a child made it. I wasn't a fan of it. But Thankfully was hungry enough to eat it. The spagetti and meat sauce was ok. My boyfriend's roast beef sandwich was so dry that I thought I was going to choke on it....Even with the beef jus. Two really good things I had here was the Greek salad (very good) and the Strawberry pie and french fries were pretty good too (how can you screw that up though right?!?!?)...Let me tell you they don't cheap out on strawberries...Worth a lot more than what they charge for it! Teddy's is a great little restaurant. There is always lineup to get in no matter what time you go. It's an old school diner with excellent large portions meals. I always take some home so there is room for the wonderful boston cream pie or strawberry pie! Both are YUMMY. I don't know why this place has such a low rating. Food is good and has big portions, I've been going here forever! Best turkey dinner, fantastic pies, their burgers are delicious as well. It's a diner and it does what diners do best - it deserves five stars. My only complaint however is when I did find a hair in my dish, it was just once, I was charged for the dish I sent back that had the hair and the replacement dish I had. I had the julienne salad and most of it was ok accept for the cottage cheese appeared to be whipped. I've never had whipped cottage cheese and I'm not a fan. The potato salad was also not the best . It was yellow and very small pieces of potato. read more

Was craving a burger in the Oshawa area and google search brought us to this place. We ordered online which was simple enough and was only about a 30 minute wait for pick up. We both ordered 2 Special burgers which include cheese and bacon with your choice of toppings. I ordered a 7oz and my husband ordered the 10oz. Both burgers were huge and the 7oz is more than enough. Pretty solid burger. I like that they use a brioche bun which helps the sogginess from the toppings. Was hoping that the burger would be a little juicier but the taste was still great. Fries were undercooked and soggy by the time we opened everything to eat in the car. Large portion of onion rings with the usual grease but they stayed crispy. Solid 3.5 stars for our order. Would I go out of my way to visit again? Maybe. I would love to try their pies. 3.5 out of 5 star rating. read more

Teddy's is and always will be a classic in the heart of oshawa. It's been a family favorite for a long time. It's cheap, good, standard eats for reasonable prices. It's a diner. Salad with tons of dressing and a chocolate milk.... and he's a man that knows his food. Today, Sunday, I came in by myself. Had the standard 10 minute wait for dinner (sometimes longer approx 20). Was served water immediately. As soon as the waitress realized I was alone and not waiting on anyone she took my order. The parking lot was full, the place was thriving as usual. I like the seating because I find it comfortable. You've got enough room to sit and a bit of privacy but youre also close enough to avidly people watch. Its well lit and a beehive of efficiency. The experience of seeing the cooks while you wait in line, the waitresses work together and the overall experience of this restaurant oozes energy. I ordered the hot gravy turkey on a bun. I got the roast beef gravy with mushrooms and mashed. It comes with salad to start. I got strawberry pie to go. And.... yum. I had to leave rather quickly. Pressed on time. Waitress was awesome. She wrapped up my food, got my to go pie and bill Pronto! **Spoiler** the strawberry pie is not pie... it is just strawberries in crust** good but not pie lol my boyfriend made this comment multiple times at me while I wrote this review. read more

Teddy's is an Oshawa staple. When my friends and I get a chance to catch up in the shwa, this is usually the first place of recommendation that everyone screams out. What is so special about Teddy's? - great veal - great fries and gravy - their house salad dressing (thankfully you can buy their salad dressing to go) - strawberry pie - pickled beets I could truly go on about the food. I have been going here since I was a kid. Have not been disappointed. Should be closer to 4.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow us. This is more of a general review than a particular visit. I have lived in Oshawa over 30 years and Teddy's has gone through many chenages throughout the years, mostly additions to the building which is located at the SE corner of King St. (Highway #2) and Park Rd. The reason the restaurant has been so popular over the years is mainly because of one reason: the portion size. So many of the people I come in contact with tell me that ordering a meal is like ordering two: one to eat, and the other to take home. I cannot comment on all portions of each item on the menu, which is quite vast, as I usually order one of five items, that all happen to be my favourites. Funny how one person raves, and another criticizes. An earlier reviewer said that she didn't like the turkey gravy because it reminded her of butter. I however LOVE the turkey gravy, although I cannot see how it reminded her of butter. The lineups can get quite long at peak dinner hour, especially on weekends, and I am fairly certain you cannot make reservations. Another plus is that you get a free pie on your birthday. Well at least they did a year ago when I attended a friend's birthday. Teddy's is an icon of Oshawa, and if you are visiting our wonderful city, take up a seat at Teddy's restaurant, you are likely not going to be disappointed. Stephen Y. read more

Teddy's is in the heart of Oshawa and although you may have to wait for a table ( shows a good place to eat if you have to wait) it is worth it. If you want a Pastrami on Rye or a hot chicken sandwich Teddy's is the place to go.
