Paddington's was a good spot for a quick bite in the St. Lawrence Market. Took a minute for the staff to seat our two top, but most seemed friendly. Great onion rings and fries. We shared Paddington's Famous Oink (Peameal-style bacon served on a fresh Kaiser with cheddar cheese), which needed the side of cole slaw to give it some acidity and texture--the pineapple hot sauce helped.
Looking for a place to sate our appetite and sorrow (post-men's ice hockey gold medal game) our crew headed over to St. Lawrence Market. We wanted a sit-down meal, and the staff at Paddington's Pump were happy and swift to oblige us. My brunch companions ordered the breakfast, but I was hankering for some Oink on a Bun, aka pemeal bacon. Our server asked which mustard condiment I wanted, and I opted for the honey mustard - she also brought another serving of regular mustard lest I found the former too sweet. For each half of my sandwich I slathered each type of mustard and I was glad for the choice! Each bite of back bacon was better than the last, its saltiness complimented by the sweet & tart condiments provided. As for the sides, the fries were nice and crispy, and the slaw ok. Thanks to the servers for letting us linger a little after the meal, as we were getting over the OT loss in the gold medal game. Thankfully the volume on the TVs was turned off, it helped alleviate the somber mood. I did like the close seating, as it provided a bit more of an intimate vibe that Sunday morning. Can't wait to go there next time, hopefully in a better state of mind!
The bacon peameal sandwich is a true St. Lawrence Market staple (if not a Toronto staple!). The bacon is absolutely delicious and not too thick, and it works great on the bread that they use. I can't remember what the exact type of bread it was but it was light and fluffy. The server recommended the following in the sandwich: mustard, marmalade, banana peppers, and tomatoes (I opted out though) and it was so perfect - I suggest you follow their recommendation! The combination of the sweet marmalade, salty bacon, and spicy peppers is what truly makes it special.
Located inside St Lawrence Market. Got a peameal bacon sandwich with the works. The friendly guy was putting together and cutting my sandwich. The sandwich tasted great! Credit card / Apple Pay accepted.
BEST PEAMEAL BACON I EVER HAD !!! Okay ...as an American it was the only peameal bacon I've ever had but it was still quite tasty. Stopped in at Paddington's inside the St Lawerence market for breakfast. Ordered the French toast with peameal bacon and at the urging of our awesome waitress Danielle tried it with marmalade ....also sprung for the authentic Canadian maple syrup ($1 CAD) . It really hit the spot after criss crossing the market several times. Overall a friendly cozy place with great food....if I ever get back to Toronto I'll be back at Paddington's.
Had the hamburger and it was fantastic. Tasty and I could add as needed. I'm not a "slaw" person but theirs was really yummy Also, don't forget to try the Canadian cider. Waitstaff was on point, even when it got busy. Small place, but a very good experience.
Wow - don't understand the Yelp rating here. This is a great place that I'm at for the very first time for late breakfast. Very friendly service from multiple people, really good food (for me a good breakfast place always has real home fries and fresh OJ) and a busy, comfortable ambiance. Would definitely come here again and being right inside the door to the St. Lawrence Market is an extra bonus. Highly recommend.

Visited the St. Lawrence market during my layover in Toronto. While here, we checked out Paddington's pump for lunch. They have this thing called peameal bacon which reminded me of a cross between ham and Taylor's pork roll. Nice and salty. They offer this one sandwiches and burgers. I got mine on the burger and I honestly wish I just got it on the sandwich by itself bc the burger took over the flavor. The prices with the exchange rate was not too bad... maybe equivalent to around $13ish. The service was quick and the staff were super friendly! It is in a market which is connected to a to go stall so make sure you don't take a table if you're not dining in.
We checked out St. Lawrence Market on a late weekday morning while in Toronto and decided to have a meal here at Paddington's Pump and it was excellent. They do all-day breakfast, so my spouse opted for the chocolate chip pancakes (and paid the $1 upgrade for real Canadian maple syrup) and sausage. I was ready for lunch, so I went with the "Sloppy Bill" sandwich and onion rings. I tried a bit of her pancakes and I agreed with her that they were terrific, perfectly cooked. I was very happy with my selection though--the sloppy Bill is a huge sandwich filled with marinated thinly sliced roast beef and slaw on the side. Quite possibly the most tender, flavorful roast beef sandwich I have ever had. They have some great Canadian beers on tap so I washed it down with one of those. Our server was friendly, the atmosphere cozy, and they played great music. Prices (for Toronto) reasonable. Highly impressed overall.
First time visiting Toronto and I didn't know there's a bacon called peameal. Was recommended by a coffee shop to try this peameal sandwich. The shop located inside the st Lawrence market, you won't miss the big Paddington bear. The line might be long but it moves fast. You get to choose your toppings in your sandwich. The sandwich taste ok. For Americans it's basically a ham sandwich. So nothing really wow me. But it's still interesting to try .
Came here to try the famous Canadian smoked meat sandwich. Sandwich was good and service was good but you should pass on the missed drinks unless you like pricey kool-aid.
It was probably 11 or so years ago that I first visited Paddington's Pump and I was very happy to return a few days ago. My wife and arrived at around 9AM and the place was super busy, but thanks to one table being open we were seated and provided menus right away. I came here knowing exactly what I wanted, and that's exactly what I ordered! I ordered the peameal sandwich with a side of French fries and it was exactly what I needed it to be. The French fries were on the doughy side and had good taste, while the peameal sandwich was the Canadian sandwich I needed it to be. Oh yeah, and Paddington is sick so having the place themed because of him makes me like this place even more. Overall, Paddington's Pump is a classic Canadian breakfast spot serving all the classics you could want. The food tasted great, the staff was very friendly, and being inside of St.Lawrence market makes it even better. read more

My friend and I shared a delicious peameal bacon sandwich here. It was so flavorful! Everything came together well on the sandwich; mustard, marmalade, peppers, tomatoes and thick cut bacon. The peameal sandwich is AMAZING. Wish we had gotten it again because it was so juicy, and soft and the flavors complemented each other so well. We waited in line for like 2 min, and then we waited for 10 min after we ordered to get our sandwich, and it was so worth it. When the person was making our sandwich, he asked what we wanted on it, and I said everything, and he recommended we get only one of the marmalades, and then he recommended which sauce to get on it as well. 100000% get this if you're there. The ambiance is also amazing because it's so vibrant and lively inside. read more

So let's start at the top, our waitress was wonderful super friendly and helpful always checking our glasses and she was very busy but stlll attentive 5/5. The food was the most average average can be solid 3/5 nothing special whatsoever. The business practices 0/5. Up charge for cheese on eggs no mention of it. Upcharge for maple syrup no mention of it. Upcharge for a second cup of coffee....AT A DINER!!!! I've been to a lot of diners in my life time but this is just beyond beyond unbelievable. Absolutely absurd. Ownership /customer service 0/5. The owner was there today behind the bar looking absolutely miserable. Audibly heard her say "I fucking hate this place" so that was cool. Watched her verbally berate multiple members of her staff in front of customers. Watched her sulk around the store shooting dirty looks at every person in the place. I get that we all have a bad day but this was just ridiculous. Take a vacation if you're that unhappy. People came to your restaurant while visiting the awesome place that is the St. Lawrence market. I wouldn't walk back into your restaurant if it was the only food stand in the entire neighborhood. Very poor experience altogether. read more

The menu could be a little clearer. But this is the only place in the market selling peameal that takes credit card. And it's a great sandwich. The people working there were friendly. The price seemed right. I look forward to going back again. read more

A very wonderful atmosphere and great pit stop for me during my Comic Con weekend in March, had their grilled chicken sandwich and fries and they were absolutely divine and their coffee is incredible! I hadn't been to St. Lawrence Market in 23 years, the last time I went down there was for a field trip when I was 12 years old! And it was a great to be back for 23 years and the service was great and amazing I forgot the waitress's name already looking forward to stopping by again! read more

Hearty, no frills but good food served by friendly people in the heart of a tourist trap market. Paddington's is located at the corner of the St. Lawrence market and you can either hit the take out window or sit down and grab a bite. We came for the pea meal bacon sandwich which is their signature item. The bread was soft and fluffy and the bacon was really tasty albeit a tad lean. My son grabbed the steak and eggs and while it wasn't the world's best steak, it was a great value. We also grabbed the custard tarts and a Portugese donut to go which were both very good. Prices are very reasonable and the service is friendly and fast. Tourist trap or not, most definitely a great place to grab a bite at the market. read more
Had brunch with friends a few months ago. The breakfast was ok, meet the normal standard, not that impressive but with reasonable price. The atmosphere was great though, having breakfast with friends on the patio and enjoying the sunshine, that's what life should be. The only concern was that too many pigeons were around and sometimes the pigeons would try to steal your food. Maybe I should try eating indoors next time. read more

This place always seems to be busy! It was great being able to sit down for brunch at the St Lawrence market. The portions were very generous and the food was tasty. The only downside was the wait. Understandably, the patio, indoor dining and takeout we're all busy, but we waited almost an hour for our food. read more
My bf and I shared the two items ordered (peameal banquet burger & Reuben sandwich). The burger took 10mins to make and was pretty goood especially with the BBQ sauce we chose. The Reuben was okay (not bad but nothing special either). Would probably try something else next time or get two peameal banquet burgers instead. Overall the service was ok but we also got takeout instead of sitting down. The options seem a bit more limited relative to their menu online but the prices are also a bit cheaper because it's just the sandwich / burger (no fries / sides / anything that come with it) read more

I am appealed by this restaurant's aroma every time I go to Saint Lawrence Market. Basically, I think the food was ok. If you would like to have a decent breakfast with friends on the weekend morning, I think this place is a good choice. read more
