This is without a doubt one of the oddest Stop & Shop's I've ever been in. It's small - not as…read moresmall as the former S&S in Manomet, but smaller than most. But that makes it fairly easy to navigate - except that they've been renovating bit by bit, so I still can't find anything without staring at the ceiling signs. And the reno has widened some aisles, made other areas appear bigger & brighter while simultaneously shrinking the area contents - it's sorcery, I guess. Their parking lot is now shared with the apartments and retail opposite the store so there are fewer spaces but there are also fewer customers than there used to be in years past. I guess that's why I find myself checking every single sell-by date since I've brought home way too many stale cupcakes, squishy tomatoes and questionable deli purchases from this store. And I do stare at the ceiling signs while wandering through, because most of the employees roam the store acting as if the few customers are invisible. Which in itself is fine - except I'd love an acknowledgement from one employee when I'm trying to get someone's attention to ask one question. I know they're employees because they speak to each other, just not . . me? High marks for cleanliness in this store, just not 5 stars because it's very off-putting that the employees are so detached. That seems to be the norm though in other S&S's as well, so maybe it's just a thing they learn to do? And the deli lady isn't as mean as she used to be, so that's a plus too.

A stock boy named Mike was exceptionally kind and helpful. A few months ago , another very kind gentleman helped me carry heavy boxes again. I think his name was John? You do not find good customer service anymore, anywhere these days - so please keep up the good work guys! Markets are a dime a dozen everywhere, but what sets this place apart is the cool selection of items and the warm customer service. I will continue to recommend this place to people :)

I've been putting off a review, waiting for things to get better but . . . after…read more12'ish years of regular shopping here, today is marking the end of my tolerance for consistently slipping service, questionable inventory and overall sadness on the shelves. It didn't used to be this way but the past four or five months the shopping experience here has been steadily declining. Today at noon'ish, the hot foods counter was bare. Absolutely nothing in the trays. The cold foods were full but- tired looking. I no longer get anything from the prepared foods anyway, as I was on the losing end of an interrogation about potato salad last month (. . . and exactly why is it orange?) that was never going to provide an answer from the uninformed employee. Today, I did get prepared chicken salad this trip as it's delicious when it's made to their original recipe (rotisserie chicken, mayo, celery) but not so much when the chef skips the mayo. And celery. It looks like it has everything in it this time, so I'm hoping. Today in Produce, I did find two tomatoes on the vine. Not the delicious, locally-grown ones I found in here last week, but beggars can't be choosers, so I grabbed the last ones. Last week it was scallions. No scallions- why? That day, the helpful employee didn't deny it was odd, he just shrugged and said, "Maybe in a couple of days?". I could maybe excuse the empty shelves and the clueless employees except for the cashiers who know better than the customer. Today was the third visit I asked the employee conducting a painfully slow checkout process not to squash everything in my order into only one of my shopping bags but . . . nah, he knew best. so all went in one bag. Then he backed the cart out of his way into the line of people waiting patiently behind me, (insted of pulling it forward) saying, "You want your cart?" Why do I want that cart? I'm happy to put it back in the cart line without you running some poor woman's foot over with it, but sure, I'll drag the cart around the counter and through the line because I'm standing at the end of the counter emptying half of what's in one of my bags and filling the second bag with it anyways, so . . . I started shopping at TFM for the quality, the variety of unusual items and the pleasant employees who were helpful, doing a job, and trying to do it well. No clue what's happening, but I can't annoy myself here any more. But now I have to find Malted Milk Balls somewhere that even come close to TFM ones, and that's not gonna happen anytime soon!

She was able to find some for $0.99 each, excellent buy. She also brought some foldable hard sided square bag with handles, excellent for carrying heavier items. First time seeing this type of bag. Is a pretty typical Trader Joe's, but it's very small, even smaller than the one we have back home in Boca, which is one of the smallest ones I've ever seen. But we found everything we needed and everything was pretty good quality in particular the fresh produce. Overall if you're in the Seaport this place is a must if you don't want to spend a fortune on food. I'd give it four stars, definitely recommended and possibly the only place to go grocery shopping in the immediate area.

I ordered a custom cake from the bakery department of the Shaw's in Cohasset. I was not…read moredisappointed. I had provided a reference photo for what I was looking for and the cake I received looked identical. The reference photo had cake toppers of miniature ballerinas and the baker that made the cake said that they did not have ballerina toppers. Instead, they made their own ballerina toppers out of edible paper and gave me the option to place them on the cake. I was very impressed with the enthusiasm of the employees and the effort that was put into the cake. I would definitely order a custom cake from this Shaw's again.
