It seemed like the employees wanted nothing to do with the customers. Then I was shopping the produce department, where the aisles are wide, and left my cart against the side display, to run to get a lemon and when I returned another customer started to yell at me about blocking her access to the lettuce! I guess that's what folks do in this area! Then I went to the meat department, which is shared with the seafood department. Essentially, unless you wanted Purdue or Shaw's label meats, that's all there was. It seems like this Shaw's caters to the take away food people. I ordered a custom cake from the bakery department of the Shaw's in Cohasset. I was not disappointed. I had provided a reference photo for what I was looking for and the cake I received looked identical. The reference photo had cake toppers of miniature ballerinas and the baker that made the cake said that they did not have ballerina toppers. Instead, they made their own ballerina toppers out of edible paper and gave me the option to place them on the cake. I was very impressed with the enthusiasm of the employees and the effort that was put into the cake. I would definitely order a custom cake from this Shaw's again. read more

Went here when visiting relatives, was left pleasantly surprised! The place wasn't like the other stores I've been to, this location had decently priced foods that were well stocked. The service was also very good. The staff were quick to help out at self checkout when needed and were polite. The ambiance was a little crowded but otherwise good place to shop! read more

Only reason I am giving one star is because it's required to leave a review. I ordered food delivery from them. I am injured, and healing from a broken back. instructions for the food delivery we're left on the order, which they chose to ignore. They left my food in my driveway!!!! Right on the driveway, Who does that? I couldn't go get it. I had to have someone come and pick it up out of my driveway. I went with another grocery delivery service until I heal. Their website is a disaster. Finding items is screwy. After spending 40 minutes creating a 50 item $175 order I could not checkout. The store directed me to customer support in India. They could not help and said they would refer to IT who would contact me in 24-48 hours. read more

I've been ordering home delivery for months and need groceries brought into kitchen. I've always selected premium delivery and paid more for that service. Nearly every other delivery is left outside on the steps. No one called me or rang the bell and it's always door dash. How can a store set up this service and fail over and over to provide that service. Calling customer service gets apology but the problem is mot solved. I'm so frustrated. Today at Shaw's in Cohasset, I had the worst experience I've ever had at a supermarket. I went there early and filled my cart because I wanted to avoid shopping for the next few weeks (a family member is undergoing surgery and I don't want to chance bringing home Covid or anything else). When I went to the registers I found none of them were open. I asked for help and the woman there said she couldn't open a register because she didn't have a cash drawer. So I was told to do self-checkout with my full basket of stuff. No one offered to help, though I mentioned having an injured wrist. Maybe they are not allowed to help at the self-checkout, though it seems like it ought to be possible when there's no option for regular checkout. It took me forever to get through every item, while the woman watched and stood there idle. I quickly used up the space where I was supposed to put the bags, and asked her what to do now. She told me to put the extra bags on the floor, which made it hard later to also transfer them back into my cart. When I got to the last few items in the cart, she came over and showed me the scanner to use for the soda, which I hadn't noticed before. If she'd shown me that at the beginning, it would've saved some time. All told, it took me half an hour to check out, and I risked worsening my wrist injury and straining my back. I'm nearly 70 years old. I just can't imagine any store treating any customer in this fashion. I don't plan to ever shop at Shaw's again. Market Basket always has plenty of cashiers and baggers. I feel like Shaw's owes me for the half hour of labor I put in for them. read more

I go to Shaw's Cohasset as it is close to home, has good prices and their meat/fish selection and prices are very good. However, the customer service is getting worse. You will see no carts available at the entrance and poor check out service. Today, I had a young girl literally tossing my groceries after scanning and started scanning the next customer while I still had some items to bag. I did most of the bagging, which is fine. However, she was very reluctant to bag and also tossed one of my bags over the groceries that I handed it to her to avoid piling up all the food. I didn't even get my receipt or any acknowledgment that my transaction was completed. This is not the first time check out was not customer friendly but by far the worst experience. Bad customer service!! Awful experience!! I bought a gallon of milk and didn't realize that the lid was broken. (Does anyone check the lids when they buy milk?) i didn't realize it until I got home and milk was all over my carpet in my car. I took the milk back to the store and they offered me a new one. I told them it was all over my car. They offered me paper towels that's it! I went home to clean it up. 2 days later the milk smelled so bad that my kids were almost throwing up. My son has food sensitivities and goes to children's hospital for feeding treatment. Smells are really bad for him and this was awful! Anyone knows how bad rotten milk smells. I called corporate office and they told me the manager would take care of it. The manager Ed told me he would take care of it and file an insurance claim. The insurance company has been very difficult! I've had it cleaned by two auto detailing and they cannot get the smell out. My carpet needs replacement as you cannot get the smell out. It's underneath in the padding. I've reached out to shaws several times and Joe F. the district manager said he would take care of it. He won't take any of my calls and will not email me back. This shaws doesn't care about anyone! They say they are in the people business. Really?? You're in the people business but you don't want to take care of this situation and try to make it better?? I may be misguided but I got the impression today that to shop here fully, to purchase the groceries at the real retail prices in their flier, they want you to bring a cell phone and on your own time and data charges install their software on your phone, something called a digital coupon. Thus, tying your purchases to a cell phone number. LIke, if you know enough about digital security and where we are headed, that ain't happening on the cell phone I have access to. that's waaay outside of the company's allowed usage practices. so, this may have been the last time there. There are some good things there, so I might come just for aged cheese and remaindered bread, but otherwise, they have gone beyond acceptable practice for consumer tracking. read more

If you don't expect too much, this is a pretty decent Shaw's. The parking lot is reasonably sized, the facility inside is clean, and this supermarket has most things well-stocked. It's easy to get around this supermarket. This Shaw's isn't huge, but it's not claustrophobic either, and you get a decent selection of goods. Even though this is rich Cohasset, you'll still see a bunch of folks looking for bargains at the reduced priced section. Frugal New Englanders! The cashiers can be a little chatty to other employees, however. It hasn't been bad enough to the point where I have been seriously hindered. I haven't had a problem with self-service checkout yet. read more

If you told me five years ago that in 2021 it will be cheaper to have food delivered to your front door from Whole Foods than to buy it in the store at Shaw's, I wouldn't have believed you. I usually go to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, but decided to give Shaw's a go. I ended up buying the same things I buy every week, and the cost was at least 25% higher, and much of what I purchased wasn't organic. Pass on this place and drive the extra distance to Stop & Shop, Trader joe's, or just save your money and have Whole Foods delivered. Crazy how overpriced everything is in Shaw's now. read more

I used to shop at this Shaws every week. With COVID19 I thought I would use their delivery service. I placed my order and was charged for my groceries and the service charge and I put the tip on. The groceries were shopped for and they were out of a lot of the items that I ordered. My issue is. not with them being out of product. My issue is that there is no way to get refunded for the products that I purchased and they did not have. I sent email to customer service of Shaws and to customer service for Instacart. No reply from either. This was a expensive lesson learned, don't use Instacart , don't shop at Shaws. read more

Easily one of the most mismanaged stores. Do not be fooled by the signs that it reopened. Still run by a poor manager. The shelves aren't stocked properly and the high school help at check out always help to create obnoxious lines. I give it three stars because they hire a lot of local kids and my gripe is about one particular issue. I went in Sunday at 4:30 pm to buy a couple pounds of cod for chowder. I went up and down the aisles looking for condensed milk and other ingredients before going to seafood section. When I got there everything had been put away! I asked the guy behind the counter if the had any fish and he stated we put it away early now. He seemed annoyed at my question. It was 4:30 pm. What time do I have to be at Shaws to buy fish? If you want to throw a sign up saying what time the seafood section closes that would be awesome, maybe save me an hour or so. read more

I have never been so very grateful for the kindness of supermarket persons before. Every time I come in, whoever I have, is very pleasant and seems genuinely kind. The young man yesterday was extremely kind. As I sat in my car, a young woman knocked in the window with a bag of groceries I had absent minded ly forgotten. How did you find my car? This is a store that I don't generally shop at. No particular reason, I just usually go to Stop & Shop. I visited the store earlier this week for a few items. I used the automatic checkout, and had questions about the price I was charged on two of the items. I believe it was the manager who came over to help me out. He couldn't have handled the situation any better! One of my questions was resolved right away, and the other question was about the price (I thought) was posted at the display, vs. the price I was charged. The manager asked another employee to check it out as I finished up at the register. We then walked over to the produce area and met up with the employee who had been sent over to check it out. Sure enough, I was right and the auto checkout was wrong. Both employees apologized (more than once) for the mistake, and the manager took me over to the Customer Service desk for the correction. As a consumer in this digital age, I totally understand that there are bound to be occasional issues to deal with... whether they are due to human error or mechanical error. How the issue is handled is the most important thing for me! Clearly, this store & manager did the right thing! Very professional - cordial, friendly and apologetic. Kudos to the team!! read more

Pretty decent Shaw's with a decent selection and every time we've gone there it's been well stocked, they need more self serve check out lanes and their bathrooms have those annoying loud don't get your hands totally dry dryers instead of paper towels but overall this is far from the worst Shaw's supermarket. read more

I am a laryngectomee (I cannot speak...yet) and am blind in one eye and have stage IV throat cancer. My son has been working very long hours this past year, delivering mail for USPS. We've been using Instacart for 14 months and our total is $9091.22 for the two of us (72 orders) since Xmas, 2019. We tip 15% every time, the shoppers have been great and helpful (ALWAYS give 5 stars). Two days ago, I ordered $211 worth of groceries and my shopper was lightning fast and had them delivered before 7:30 AM! However, Instacart put a hold on my card for $470. I have a very important app't at Boston Medical tomorrow, and because of this error, my card is down to $30. I can't go. I explained by email all day..by text, all day..basically, Instacart shrugged their shoulders and said, "sorry..7-10 days and it will be back on your card"..I feel for our shoppers who I look forward to seeing and won't get tipped. But, if I had a flagpole, I'd bend Instacart over for the big one..never never again..not one thin dime read more

The store is relatively clean, though in the past loose on some regulations. Regularly stocked, prices appear to be a bit more then Stop and Shop down the street. The self check out has it problems like most other stores, these machines have proven to been more problematic. The employees are what'd you'd expect, on their own schedule sometimes. Helpfulness varies. Management here has been questionable. There is good amount of parking and there are usually plenty of carts or baskets available. Sidewalks are taken care of durning the seasons of New England weather. Expect for some entitled shoppers. read more

Shaw's Cohasset is horrible. The cashiers are more interested in working reallllly slowly and chatting with each other than helping the customer. The self check outs do not work properly. Most of the time the sale price does not register, so you need to call over the Manager on Duty for a price check. It really is amazing how they stay in business, but not too many options (other than Stop 7 Shop) nearby, so I guess they can get along by being worse than average. read more

My daughter's graduation cake was absolutely gorgeous (delicious too)! Andrea was the decorator! Everyone at the party asked where the cake was from. I have ordered 4 cakes from them in the last 2 months...all lovely! I used to order all of my special occasion cakes from a Hingham bakery but the cakes at Shaws are more unique, prettier, and tastier...and frankly, the decorators are more accommodating and creative:) read more
