For a small market they carry a wide array of products. Very convenient to have in town, staff are always pleasant & helpful. My only criticism of Village Market is that it's overdue for a facelift. read more

It has been years now since this was turned from Riddles into the Village Market, yet the owners have kept the disgusting red rug on the floor. I don't think they've done one thing to update it , change it or make it any nicer since it changed hands. The produce is often on the way out and very a very small selection while the wine and beer selection grows bigger every year, despite having other liquor stores to choose from in town. The people that work there are helpful and kind, but we only stop here so we don't have to leave town. I feel bad for those in Hull without transportation who rely on this as their market. It's time for the owners to show a little love to the market and community supporting them. read more

This is a small, neighborhood market that is part of a three store chain on the south coast. It is A-Ok, I'd say, rather than good, but I would put that at four stars. They have local high school kids as checkouts, and a not very large produce section, for example. they have a relatively large deli and wine selection. They are closer than hingham, for those that are closer to it. I've come to rely on it. you do have to check their dates, but, I'm finding that at most places now. And, i may be Miss Guided, but the alternatives that Yelp recommends right before I entered this, the Wagon Wheel in Lexington, and the Mass Ave Sunoco, are neither close nor similar establishments. A similar place is Tops Friendly Market in Ellicotville, NY. A close similar place is one of the nearby gas stations or a stop and shop down the road in Hingham or Cohasett. read more

Back during Columbus Day Wknd, my Aunt who is the sweetest, kindest person, went into the village market. She was making the family a special beef stew for the night and needed biscuits and this is what happened. "I went Into the store to buy pillsbury biscuits and when I got home, I saw that the package had rust on it and the date was expired. I went to return the item and the manager on duty told me he would infact NOT exchange the pack for me and insinuated that i didn't buy it there. He told me that I was returning an old can that I had at home for the money. He then said that he would give me back the $2.00 I "paid" for It. I tried to show him the receipt that i had bought the can only 20 minutes earlier. I was shocked and didn't know what to do. I went, bought yet another pillsbury biscuit, checked the can and the expiration this time and went home. When I got home and I told my husband what was said, he called and asked to talk to the man I spoke to. When he got on the phone with the man, the man told my husband that this was what he expected from "People from the town of Hull". I have never been more offended and discriminated like this before in my life! If this is how you owners of the village market feel about HULL people you should go back and make your money elsewhere!" read more

If you're staying the week on vacation like we were, it's a good spot to stock up on what you need. Prices are ok and you'll find everything you need. They even sell alcohol. The cashiers greet you with a smile. The weirdest thing about this place is that the entire market is carpeted. That's right, a thin red carpet throughout the market. Never have I seen that in my life. The store itself is old and could use updating. There is ample parking in the public parking lot next door. read more

Seems as if product is rarely rotated.. newer codes on top with old product on the bottom. Also forget to check codes a few times when I purchased chips or cereal and had to return them ( way past the exp. date ). They really need to concentrate on this! I can't tell you how many times this has happened in a year! Over priced like most small shops but good in a pinch because it's right in town. The upside is the tasty rotisserie chickens which are really good! read more

Check expiration on their items. More than once we came home with expired food that we just purchased. Most recently at thanksgiving we had purchased two packages of celery... both were rotten. read more

If I could give this store manager a zero I would have. Unfortunately, I did not get his name. He is the taller gentleman with dark hair, facial hair, and glasses. I had just left the store with my groceries and dropped my gallon of milk. It started to leak so I brought back to get a replacement. The employees were more than accommodating as I was now in the entryway holding the milk as I didn't want to make a mess in the store. One of the cashiers was kind enough to bring me a plastic bag so that I could come in and speak with the manager. Once he approached me I let him know that I dropped it in the parking lot. He asked me again if I dropped it to which I replied yes. He then told me that once I bought it, it was sold implying that he didn't feel that I should be given another one. I literally shop there at least four times a week for incidentals but will NEVER frequent again! I am on the road for my job so I have many shopping options. I only shop there as I like to shop local to help local businesses. I am astounded that this person would not replace an item that costs $4.50 and now has lost business forever! Good job! To be fair every other employee has always been incredibly nice and accommodating but that just left a seriously bad taste in my mouth. I have literally only left 3 bad reviews in my life so I am not one to do so for no reason but I really felt this deserved it. read more

While I am glad we have a Market in Hull, I'm not happy with the outdated or one day to go date on milk and bread. I have notified the owner on more than one occasion of moldy pastry or outdated yogurt. I don't get the warm friendly feeling I used to get from Riddles. When I do shop there I am constantly checking the date on products and many times I can't find something that will be good for more than a day. I don't think the owner really cares about Hull. He never even had a grand opening! read more

I am so grateful for the Village Market. It is great to have a supermarket close to home. They offer a growing selection of organics, which I prefer, and are willing to try something new to see if there will be enough demand. I think it is amazing to have the fish that they offer. read more

The change in ownership of a long established local business has been amazing. They carry all the basics but also lots of gourmet items, as well as wine, abundant fresh produce etc. Having a store with a wide array of high quality foods right in town has changed my life for the better. No need to drive to Hingham for groceries anymore. I wish them lots of success and will make them my first stop from now on. read more

So impressed at all the new products they carry. It is so nice to be able to find organic and gluten-free products alongside our usual staple products, and a lot cheaper and closer to home!
