Loved Loved Loved Ted's, our first time here and we stumbled on a perfect day ! End of Sept, cool and sunny out. Love the colored Pollywood type high boy chairs, live music soon after we arrived. Great grilled cheese w bacon and hand cut fries from the food truck. Doesn't get better than this, although a drink menu would be nice since it was hard to determine what they could make and what the $$ were. Stick to beer, easy. Though the Pina Colada with a top off of rum (Lee M thought it was a margarita, he knows I can't drink those as they give me agida) We've traveled around and around and this is pretty close to perfection in terms of outdoor, beach side enjoyment. What a serendipity! After a Long Beach Boardwalk bike ride, lounging on the beach, Lisa E and I decided to see what was happening in Point Lookout. Ted's caught our eye, as we prefer drinks outdoors and waterside. As we walked the property trying to decide where to sit amongst the many choices (beach, dock, bar, adirondacks), I noticed a duo bringing in equipment. Adirondacks front and center of band stage was the only choice. Cold beer for me, frozen margarita with a floater for my lady. We settled in for some classic rock tunes ( Dead, Beatles, and some early 70's 1 hit wonders). Food truck grilled cheese perfection with enough crispy handcut fries the feed a family if five. Just a perfect Saturday! ...and a Mrs. Roper Pub Crawl at all 3 bars on the bay side (picture for illustration only as it was next door). read more

This is definitely one of those hidden gems kind of places. It saddens me to see the low reviews create an impact on the overall experience as it seems most of them reviewed solely on their "boat rental" experience vs the many other things this place has to offer. It's simple, it's laid back and the drinks are stiff. There's not much of a food selection but you definitely don't come here for that, you come for the "summa hummas". It is not surprising to see a handful of negative reviews for this place. The setting is beautiful, but the service is something to be desired. From the moment we arrived there, the bartender was cold and unfriendly. Nonetheless, my mother-in-law had been to this bar numerous times before without any problems. She would order a few drinks and then go get a bite to eat and come back. Every single time, the ladies at the bar reassured her that it was alright to leave her car parked in the parking lot. She always came back for more drinks!! Every single time!! Tonight the experience was far from pleasant. The moment we arrived and the bartender saw my wife and I, his attitude toward us was visibly different. He was much friendlier and attentive to other customers, in comparison. We have seen discrimination first hand too many times and recognize it clearly!! This guy had it out for us from the moment we walked up to that bar!! After about 2 hours, several drinks (I felt mine was watered down, as I didn't even get a buzz from it, and in case you missed it - PAYING CUSTOMERS!!), we decided to walk over to one of the adjacent establishments to grab some food. The bartender tells us, after we ALL had drinks, that we can't leave our car in the parking lot. Now the kids are hungry and we need to go feed them. My mother-in-law told him that the previous bartenders had never had an issue with a car being parked in the lot so we decided to go ahead and go grab a bite. And with this guy's attitude, we really didn't feel like arguing with him. However, none of us could drive as we all drank. We go get something to eat and come back to the bar for more drinks. This guy says: I'm not serving you, you need to leave. After he tells my wife: you should have cut yourself off! She replies that she only had one drink. He says, if you knew you had to drive, you should not drink. We were there over 4 hours!! One drink wears off. No matter, he was way out of line talking that way to a customer. We said OK, we were wrong, although you have allowed a loyal customer to do this before, we will leave. As soon as we look over onto the parking, our car is blocked by another vehicle!! The parking is busy, but ours is the only car blocked in!! We are not idiots, we realized he did this on purpose. We then spoke to the bar owner's daughter, who acknowledged that he is indeed and a-hole and they are aware that he is aggressive with customers. She than tries to justify, saying we are the most polite customers yet. Seriously? So get him to move the car and let us go!! No, he stalls and she acts like she doesn't know who blocked us in. Blanket your treatment for all customers. Treat everyone with respect and dignity!! This is NY, not the south!! Get with the program. We are a same-sex-couple and we go out of the house with our kids. If you don't like it, that's your problem!! I guarantee you, my mother-in-law and her friends will not come here again to spend their money, no matter how pretty the view. Time to find another spot!! Stay away and spend your money elsewhere. It will be much better spent than at this place. No drink is worth the bad service. read more

Heard about Scotty's for small outboard boat rentals but found out they don't do that anymore. My friend said Ted's was right next door and they do rentals. Started at 7am with the boat and equipment rental, some bait, and a brief and knowledgeable seminar from from Ted about the do's and don't out there... He was very friendly and gave us the bait for what was biting that day. So we jumped in our boat, throttle the 9hp outboard motor and were on our way. We caught like 6 Fluke (One was a 17" that was a few inches short of a keeper") and a 15" bad assssss Sea Robin that looked like an orange dragon. All in all a really nice relaxing day. One recommendation: The boats are good for a max of 3 adult men (or 2 adults and 2 children) and a cooler and fishing rods. Anything more than that, you'll need something bigger but perfect for the 3 of us... Overall the staff was good and we caught fish so I would def recommend if you are looking for a nice quiet day out on the water. read more

we rent boat from Ted's fishing station, our motor get stock we could not get started, i called Ted and they help us to start it but they instructed us to go to marina and switch motor. Replacement they gave us does not want to run we have a very hard time to started and were so slow. when i want my deposit back he notice me that i broke motor and he is not going to return our deposit. 25$ have you ever seen to fix motor for 25$ ???? unbelievable!!! Pretty solid spot for affordable libations where the locals frequent. Small outdoor bar, with a very low key and relaxed vibe (people were even wearing sweat pants). Beers were inexpensive and you got to enjoy a gorgeous water view. You can rent fishing boats, buy some bait, grab some beers and be on your merry way (like I will do next time) or you could just sit outside and get drunk like we did. read more

Simply put its our favorite place on Long Island. My kids favorite place to hang out as well as ours. We used to go to Montauk alot to get this type of atmosphere but we all know Montauk is sold out now. Long live Ted's and real authentic places like Ted's for they are few and far between. read more

This is a spot mainly for locals, and you will get some stares as you approach the bar if you're unfamiliar looking, but in the end, it's worth it and the people are friendly. This place is such a relaxing spot to grab a drink and enjoy it on a little plot of beach, with your own beach chair if you'd prefer, and with your dog if you'd prefer. Nothing fancy, just great music playing and pure relaxation. There are other seating areas if you'd prefer not to be in the sand and they do offer some food, though I would probably recommend sticking to the drinks. read more

HIDDEN GEM! Ted's is located a few blocks away form the buoy bar and Fishermans Catch so it is a little hidden. Last Summer I went to Teds to rent a boat with my young kids and had a great experience. The young woman in the store was very helpful, teaching us how to use the fishing poles and recommended what bait to use. We did a half day (about four hours) which was perfect for the kids! We caught a bunch of fluke throughout the day. After our day on the water we stayed at teds for a few hours. My husband and I enjoyed a few cocktails at their beach bar, while we watched our kids play volleyball on the ted's beach. Ted's is a great low key spot for families to enjoy together.... Just finished up another phenomenal summer by chilling at Teds! The GF and I found this spot earlier in the summer and immediately said to each other 'this is my zen'. Let me set the scene: fishing shack that sells beer. Boat rentals and piña coladas. Sitting on a beach chair as your toes flirt with the water's edge. Sun setting beyond the bay, and Jimmy Buffet on the airwaves. It's the definition of chill. Now let me get to the details of my visit. Rented a little skiff with the GF and another couple, we'll call them JAM. (Jess and Mark). Started at 6am with the boat and equipment rental, some bait, and a general point from Ted "the fish are over there this morning." We jump in our boat, throttle the SOB (all of about 15mph). And head over with bated breath and hooks. 5 minutes later, we catch a sweet little sea bass. Half way through the day, we pulled in for some grub. The rest of the day was great; we ended up catching a few fluke, a sea robin and a couple crabs. Only thing we took home were the memories, no keepers from the ocean. What a great way to finish off our summer. Awesome people, a great location, and that little feeling of Zen before our long NY Winters. Thanks for the memories Ted! If I could rate this place with negative stars, I would in an absolute instant. I have never experienced such horrible service and unprofessional behavior from anywhere I have been to. I visited this fishing station with some friends to rent a skiff boat for half the day. My friends had been here before and to Scotty's fishing station as well. I heard good things about Scotty's fishing station but unfortunately they no longer rented out boats at the time. All the boats were rented out at Ted's for the time being, and we decided to wait around for people to come back from their half-day morning trips. After an hour of waiting, we got called inside by the middle aged woman working at the counter for our boat. Initially the woman came off to be friendly and helpful, and gave us the paper to fill out/sign for the boat rental. She explained that we would have to be back at 4pm, which was completely fine with us. Since we had lost an hour waiting in the parking lot, I then kindly asked the woman in these exact words, "would it be possible that we can get a discount because we wouldn't really get a half-day trip in?" The woman did not let me even finish my sentence when she irrationally snatched our paper, folded it up, and proceeded to rip the paper into little pieces in front of our faces while staring at us. I was so appalled by her unexplainable behavior and she explained, "this is what you can get, no boat for you." Despite her absurdly irrational response, I kept calm and explained, "I was only asking for a possibility but it would be completely fine if we had to pay the full price. I am not here to haggle you, I simply asked if it was possible." She would not even look at any of our faces and would just respond with, "you lost your boat, goodbye." She completely ignored us afterwards and changed her voice into a chirpy & friendly tone and brightened up with a big smile when a white man entered the store. I am not sure if the woman is mentally ill at all or deals with a personality disorder (if that is the case, I would understand her 'out of the ordinary' behavior)..nevertheless, her response was completely irrational and unacceptable. I can only assume she was either racist (as my friends and I are Asian Americans) or simply, "not well." I wish I had recorded the altercation so I could post it on Yelp and on social media. I would not take the time to leave such a long and negative Yelp review if this incident had happened because I personally deserved it, but this is just unbelievable even to myself. My friends were extremely disappointed and shocked at what had happened. I have never felt so disrespected and treated so lowly by a business. I hope my review gets viewed by many others so that they can steer clear of this business. I also hope that the owner of the business sees this and takes action upon their extremely rude employee. I will be frequenting Scotty's from now on because I would MUCH rather go there than come here ever again. Once again, DO NOT GO HERE. You'll get treated much better elsewhere. read more
