And if you get seasick, as a dozen of us did, dramamine doesn't help and 5 hours on the boat is too long!!

What parks around here sit on the bay with the view of boats and the bay? The bathrooms are open, basketballs, tennis, softball, kids play area, shuffle board, and the park even has the equipment to lend you. There are people fishing in the far end which is nice to watch.

We took a sunset whale watch tour out of Freeport and what a tour it was!! Captain Nick was even…read morethrilled with our sightings. Just a half mile off of Jones Beach we came upon Endurance and her calf and for the next 3.5 hours observed them flipping, diving, blowing, breeching, and all the things wales do. Captain's dog Sophia alerted us every time the whales were about to surface. We even got to smell that lucious whale breath! Our marine biologist tour guide was great as well - she walked around and told us all about the whales and their behaviors. This is my at least 6th whatle watch (Alaska, P-town, Iceland, etc) but by far the most entertaining. We also enjoyed a spectacular sunset as well as a nearly-full sturgeon moon rise. Adirondacks front and center of band stage was the only choice. Cold beer for me, frozen margarita with a floater for my lady. We settled in for some classic rock tunes ( Dead, Beatles, and some early 70's 1 hit wonders). Food truck grilled cheese perfection with enough crispy handcut fries the feed a family if five. Just a perfect Saturday! ...and a Mrs. Roper Pub Crawl at all 3 bars on the bay side (picture for illustration only as it was next door).

Just bought my 3rd board from these guys (including my wifes board). Great little shop very well…read morerun. They open up nice and early so you can go after your early morning surf session. That was a pet peeve of mine with other surf shops, you'd have to wait around an hr or 2 if you wanted to buy a leash! Anyway, they'll chat you up and make sure you get the right board. Mike was very patient with me (I was in the store for over an hour being indecisive) and helped me pick out a cool pair of board shorts for my boyfriend. He even threw in a freebie! I highly recommend this spot and plan on hitting it up next weekend to get a head start on spring shopping. I wish they had a Maritme in the city!
