My one complaint is that some of my photographers have had a complete lack of communication on getting my photos to me.. or at all.. i've had to hunt down two photographers who didn't know how to even contact me. Portrait slam releases headshots with everyone's contact information on it, which is smart in keeping the right communication. I think the photographers maybe did not care as much about certain photos they took as much as others. Having to reach out and ask if they even have my photos is upsetting considering I paid to do this slam. Other than that, Portrait slam itself is not responsible for the photographers communication abilities. they host wonderful slams with Decor, furniture, a beautiful venue, costumes, and jewelry. I cannot wait to attend another slam!

Kali appears very patient yet talented (as you can see from her portfolio). She also comes off as very flexible - we particularly liked one of the photos (which has a vintage treatment). She explained to us that although she had not done an entire wedding in that style, she could and it's also her preferred style. In addition, when we share with her our ceremony location, she told us she had taken photos there (which is not a must have but a definite plus). She says she will send them to us for review. All in all, Kali seems very easy going and flexible. After speaking to a few photographers, we realize that it's not just about picking talents but also personality that somehow can work with ours since you must feel comfortable working with them on arguably the most important day of your life! We didn't up picking Kali but I'm positive she would be great to work with.

Renae has been flexible with our engagement shoot and even moreso for our wedding. She provided a written guide to help us figure out the timing and outfits for our engagement shoot. We had so much fun throughout that day because she had such a great attitude the whole time. The photos were touched up quickly and we absolutely loved them. Due to the COVID-19 situation, we had to make very drastic changes to our wedding and Renae was there for us. She was able to capture our first looks with each of our parents and she took excellent photos throughout the night. I knew that I wanted to book her as our photographer because she uses and has great lighting in her pictures. You have to love working with her because she makes so many positive comments when taking pictures. You seriously feel like a million bucks. Their roughly two acre garden is full of beautiful flowers and trees (see the pictures!) and the perfect escape from city life. It's paradise and I highly recommend anyone to stay there who is looking for a beautiful getaway near Ashland and its surrounding areas. The owner's, Annette and Brian, are wonderful hosts and pour their heart and soul into the place. They are extremely friendly and their hospitable touches are everywhere. The spacious studio, which is actually more like a one bedroom, is nicely arranged with books, local information, and decorations. They provide all the morning necessities like coffee, tea, and breakfast food. You'll feel right at home! On the property, there is also a very quaint wine tasting room that is leased by the winery adjacent to their property called Pebblestone Winery. The wine is very good, but it's the setting and hospitality that will make your trip memorable. Apparently, they can host weddings, a wondeful place for a special event. Wisteria is perfectly located to reach the surrounding area. It's an easy 10 minute drive to downtown Ashland. The drive to historic Jacksonville is about 15 minutes drive through some amazing, rolling vineyards. My only regret about writing this review is letting my secret out. I'm sure next time I go I will need to book months in advance.
