Jeanie and Russ, the owners of this 1913 home, are excellent hosts and great breakfast cooks. We had french toast with fresh berries, poached eggs and bacon one day and blueberry muffins, omelets and locally made sausage the second morning. We stayed in the Royal King Suite. It was a spacious room with comfortable sitting area, fireplace, jacuzzi tub and high quality bed. Both suites have private entrances. In addition to the two bed and breakfast suites, this property is also a wedding venue with a gazebo, tent for the reception, and even a vintage automobile. Jeanie has been a wedding coordinator for many years and adds her special expertise to the many weddings they have each year. We hope to return soon when we come to the Rogue Valley again.

It's got a nice rustic feel to it with great fixtures. I met the two owners as they had mingled with the guests, and they are some of the nicest and sweetest people I've ever met. We woke up in the morning to watch goats being milked, play with ducks and dogs, then collect eggs. There were great sledding hills and so much space to run around. The farm dogs liked to sleep on our front porch and would follow the kids when they played outside, which gave us some comfort. We stayed in the Meadow House and quickly learned how to live "off the grid". It was comfortable but beware, the floors are thin (so heat can move upstairs) and you can hear everything. We had all the comforts we needed (fridge, stove, washer/dryer, wi-fi) to enjoy family time. Tending the wood-burning furnace was kind of fun as was learning how to use the generator. The staff at the farm were the kindest people, answering all of my sons gazillion questions and letting us spend time with the farm animals. If you are lucky enough to get up to the farm, even for a day trip, make sure you say hi to Tim and Robbie! We cannot wait to return, maybe during summer this time!

I noticed little touches that should not be missed: The sink, located outside the toilet room, had a bench you could sit on and apply your makeup ( if that applies to you). This turned a sink into a dressing table. There were also packaged makeup remover wipes... Which probably keeps their towels, washcloths, and sheets from being stained. I am very guilty of makeup covered towels in hotels...which are always white, maybe so they can bleach the hell out of them. There was a small radio turned to news. (B&Bs typically do not have TVs). And lots of lighting options. The door unlocked by code...which meant not keeping up with a key. The pool was so lovely. The garden was absolutely gorgeous. And the breakfast was very good. I can not have tomatoes or tomatoes sauces ( sadly) and they had planned a Mexican breakfast dish with salsa. Somehow, they whipped up a yummy green sauce for me instead, so last minute. ( I arrived in the evening, so not a terribly convenient time to rethink the next day's breakfast). Due to Covid, breakfast was served outside at separate tables, but we were still able to socialize. The hosts were both lovely and had a nice sense of humor. They are located very near the downtown area and we're knowledgeable and could make recommendations of restaurants. I was only there one night, but it was a perfect final stay of my fantastic 10 day vacation!

The campground felt more like parking along a dirt road than an actual campground. There was frequent vehicle traffic through the area at different times of day and night, so it did not feel quiet or restful. The bathrooms were very poorly maintained, extremely small, and uncomfortable to use. The shower stalls also did not seem properly cleaned or maintained. If you are only camping, I do not think it is worth the price. There also did not seem to be basic camper amenities. I did not find a communal kitchen, and even getting drinking water was inconvenient. The water fountains were difficult to use. Overall, the property felt neglected and under-maintained. The pool and soaking areas were also disappointing. The pools looked grimy, and the "silence" signs were not respected during my stay. Every time I used the hot pool area, people were talking loudly. The dry sauna was fine, but not special enough to justify coming here; it felt similar to a basic gym sauna. The wet sauna was also not worth the trip by itself. I also had concerns about safety and management. On one very hot day, a dog was left tied outside near a tent for a long period while barking, and other campers had to help care for it. I did not see management respond, even though staff appeared to be driving around the property. On the morning I left, another guest behaved aggressively toward me near my van, which made me feel unsafe. The front desk seemed mainly focused on payment and access control, not on guest comfort, cleanliness, or safety. As a non-white guest, I also felt uncomfortable and out of place here, and I did not feel that management was attentive enough to create a safe environment. This place may appeal to some locals or repeat visitors, but based on my experience, it was dirty, poorly maintained, uncomfortable, and not worth the price. I would not return and would strongly recommend checking the property carefully before booking online. DEFINITELY NOT FAMILY-FRIENDLY.

As much as I have been to deeply healing and naturally geothermic hot springs, I still enjoy a visit to Jackson Wellsprings every month or so. I live remotely and they offer a Tuesday night dance/soak experience that is really quite lovely. Sometimes the DJs are actually bad and I don't do the dance, I'll listen for about 20 mins before paying to enter. Sometimes the DJs are litty. The facilities are clearly 60+ years old and maintained to the absolute bare minimum, or so it appears. It doesn't seem like much deep cleaning/renovation goes on with bleach or other cleaning probably due to some eco friendly initiative to justify saving money and the planet all at once, yet the human experience is degraded. Standards differ in everyone. Sauna is nice. Steam room is nice. Big pool is nice and cool. Hot tub is often filled and relatively hot. Granted for the price of $15/4 hour session... it's now dependent on your fear of humans and the potential for their dirty to impact your experience. I'm a pretty reasonable person and still have desired standards to be met, hence this review and still attending despite a more degraded facility than one would want from a place designed for healing.

I drove over Sunday to visit but took Hwy. 140 to 37 through the "Rogue Wilderness" which was a little gnarly. Having never been before, I was STUNNED at the beauty of this large, pristine lake. Many people come to fish for trout and bass. Others come for boating, jet skiing and canoeing. Still others come to hike and bike in the mountains. Some just come to kick back & chill. This is a very well maintained campground/resort with all the amenities you could ask for. The store at the marina sells just about anything you may have forgotten, smokes, snacks, food (gotta have those smores around the campfire) and sundries. The restaurant is absolutely lovely and the food delicious and reasonably priced. I enjoyed a creamy pasta, mushroom & veggie dish that was perfectly done, melt in your mouth divinity. The marina blew my mind ... there were yachts and sail boats in addiiton to speed boars moored! There is a regatta each year and this place is so mellow that many, many people leave their boats, fifth wheels and/or camp trailers here for the "season". Yep, you can store your goods here during the week for just a couple bucks, head up Thursday or Friday after work and rent your campsite for the weekend. Week after week, month after month people do this until they close at the end of October. Just a little ways off the beaten path, I highly recommend Howard Prairie Lake & Resort for a nice get away.

Sail boats, ski boats paddle boats and of course fishing boats. They have Friendly staff and host. Little store with mostly fishing tackle, cafe, soft serve ice cream and Marina. Clean restroom and 25 cent showers. We had no internet or satellite. Others had satellite dishes on a 100ft cable out in a clearing. We did have cell service. Very peaceful, even with it being a busy weekend. We will return.
