I was recommended surgery from another podiatrist but went to Dr. Shumate for a second opinion and was very glad I did! Instead of surgery I changed my shoes. I have never had that pain again!! He saved me a lot of needless surgery and possible future problems from surgery. He told me to never wear any shoe or slipper that I can bend in half!! Losing 10 lbs helped also. I feel like he truly cares about me and his staff is also very caring. I love the fact that they have their own lab onsite, so any labs are drawn onsite and processed by him and his staff. He is one of the few doctors that allows his patient to go online and look up their labs, visit notes, meds, etc. I know that Kaiser does this, but no one else in the Redding area even comes close to this level of transparency and openness. I have seen docs at UCSF and Stanford for other issues and would put Dr. Peters in the same category as the University Doctors.

I'm so grateful that Jed was available when I decided to give him a try. He was kind, took the time to listen to what I told him. I've visited others and it felt more like a money making factory, not care. I won't be that guy and throw them under the bus, but I paid $90 for less than satisfactory care. Jed charged me $65 and really fixed my situation. I appreciate the time he spent making sure that I knew what he was doing, and that I felt good before I left. I'll be sending everyone to him.
