A classic, love when I'm in town and get to come to this place. Like your typical Mexican place with a little more of an upscale flare. Food is always hot and flavorful. Portions are great- not too much of too little. Hostesses were a bit rude? (Not sure that's the right word maybe standoffish?) but our server was great!!! Will definitely be back.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is huge, and there's tons of space for dining and large groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have an area/stage toward the front for live music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers greeted us immediately, and we were seated quickly. We were provided delicious chips and salsa and waters for the table. Pretty much everyone enjoyed their food. I had the fried fish taco and the Cajun shrimp taco. While I enjoyed the fish taco, the Cajun one was hardly Cajun. It had basically no Cajun seasoning so I'm not sure why it was given that name. The table side guacamole was really good, and we received free queso because we spent $20 or more on a Monday.

Much better than we expected. This is very much an Americanized Mexican restaurant, but it is well run with better food than we expected. We happened to be staying nearby and decided to stop in. The house chips are good and were served with a passable salsa. My partner enjoyed the pork sliders, but 4 sliders was a lot for just her. The veggie fajita salad bowl was better than we expected, with plenty of roasted peppers under the lettuce, cheese, and sour cream. The veggie taco and enchilada were nicely presented and paired well with some extra salsa. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but it seemed like they were distracted by an event in the other room. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space was nicely done in general, with the room we landed in largely insulated from the live music in the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All told, this was a better experience than we expected. If you're looking for Americanized Mexican cuisine with a touch of Mexican flair, this seems like a good place.

Decent Mexican food Reasonable prices Lots of servers that served our table (3) but 1 of them wasn't very good (the young man)... but I really liked the jerk chicken bowl and tried the spicy table chips - ask for this! ...pass on the sweet tea

A great spot to sit outside and have some great Mexican food. I ordered a cocktail outside of a Margarita here and loved it. I ordered the Cherry Limeade and was wowed! I had the queso and the Mojito shrimp skewers for dinner and was fully content. Next time, I'm trying the margaritas!

So we dropped in on Tuesday night. Taco's on sale woohoo. The happy hour ends at 5:30pm but the half price alcohol and appetizers are a great deal. Try the mini chimi's! I always order the cilantro lime rice and the charro beans. I absolutely love both these items. Change up the taco's as many varieties are on special Tuesday evenings. Tip would be to arrive early and take in the live music and happy hour. Tables behind the hostess station are first come first serve. Claim them quick! Enjoy

I remember stopping by at one point last year, but the restaurant was not open due to renovations. We arrived by 5:30pm on a Tuesday; not very many people there at all. Not sure when El Patron opened for business, so we figured it must have been somewhat recent. Nicely decorated - nothing too elaborate or upscale, just nicely done. We ordered Chicken Fajitas and a 3 item combo plate (Chicken Chile Relleno, Beef Burrito, and Beef Tamale). Chicken Fajitas was mostly bell peppers and onions, but had a decent flavor. The Tamale had waaaaay too much masa, so it was almost cake-like (not a fan). Salsa was decent as was the Pico de Gallo. Prices weren't too bad considering the portions. Remember me saying one of the reasons we chose El Patron was due to the Foodie Card and the $10 discount after spending $30? Well, by the time we remembered the Foodie Card, our server had already processed the payment. Ugh! All-in-all, a decent Mexican restaurant. Won't be one of my go-to's when we get a craving for some food from South of the border, but we will go back to take advantage of our Foodie Card! Happy eating...

My sister-in-law and I shared a fried burrito with Al Pastor in it. The shit was fire! They make their own hot sauces in house. The waitress brought a creamy habanero sauce to the table that was still warm. Mad respect for that. It was delicious, but hot as hell. This place is a 12 year-old boys dream. It has such a cool nacho Libre vibe. I would've given it five stars except for a few small details. I really wish you could give 4.5. It just wasn't quite at that five star level. For me a five star level means all the food is executed. Well, the service is impeccable, the place is clean, and it's a good overall experience. There was nothing bad about this by any means. But it just wasn't quite five stars. The queso is not good. It has a decent flavor, but it is super watery. I also don't like that none of their giant burritos come automatically with rice and beans. If I am ordering a $14 burrito even if it's huge, it should really come with rice and beans. Also, I wish they had a few more appetizer options like Mexican street corn. While they did have some nachos, a few basic dips and some Ramen, I just feel like they could do a little more on the appetizer front. My sister-in-law and I split a burrito and usually what I would do is get an appetizer for us to share as well and there just wasn't anything. I will argue to the death. That queso is not an appetizer. It is a condiment. A delicious condiment. Like I said... 4.5 stars for this place the waitress was very helpful. I also wish you could mix and match three tacos for $12 or something like that and I also wish they had some happy hour drink specials.

Had a strawberry margarita that the bartender went around the rear of the bar to make. Weird but it tasted pretty good. The bartenders/servers were all friendly but not especially helpful. Just kept saying everything is good. Everything is good. Went basic n got small queso and a chicken quesadilla. My girl got a fajita, tamale, n rice n beans. Pretty good chips for the queso. Quesadilla was ok. My girl raved over the tamales n she even ordered a few to go. So ordered another round while we wait. Now this margarita tasted like straight margarita mix. Yuck. I was straight sober after 2. Later that evening my girl texts me she been on the toilet all evening. Change of shift comes and the bartenders mention happy hr. No mention of this when we arrived or anything. I didn't see anything on the menu about it or their website. I didn't order anything else at that point. New bartender that comes in around 3, not so friendly and puts reserved signs at the bar to save seats for her girls. Never seen this at a Mexican restaurant before but whatever. She seemed to go out of her way to NOT be friendly. Counted as a one off til I went back a few more times. Same bartender complaining about folks coming in an hour before closing, still unfriendly. Still for me, the food is just eh. Maybe its just the chicken that's not great because my man came n enjoyed some quesabirria tacos while I picked at a chicken taco. Don't recommend the margarita unless u pay extra for freshly made or better yet wait for Fronteras Mexican restaurant to open back up. I like friendly bartenders n good chicken. Average here.

The "Steak a La Mexicana" was sensational, it was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the flavors were amazing. I requested the vegetables to be kept crunchy and they were perfect. They also give you large portion sizes of the beans, rice and salad all alongside a NY strip for only $17. Crazy good deal. We tried the Birria as that is what they seem to be known for and it was amazing and the consume was sensational, we asked for a side of it togo and we dipped everything in it. The arroz con pollo, wet burrito, and chips salsa/queso were all great as well. Everything was seasoned great and the refried beans and rice were awesome. The parking lot was very crowded and of course that meant it was also crowded inside. A good sign! Ambiance is typical festive and colorful Mexican decor. I went to the host stand to get a menu and grabbed a seat at the bar, hoping to get a small margarita while I perused the menu and ordered. I didn't see a dedicated bartender and it seemed like wait staff grabbed drinks on their own for their tables. When I was finally able to flag down someone in the bar area, she was friendly and served me a basic margarita- pretty sure they are pre-mixed but not totally sure because I was still studying the menu. Solid margarita though. Ordered two chicken burritos, a chicken quesadilla and tortilla chicken soup. The wait time was reasonable and staff members were very nice despite how busy they were at prime dinner time. Upon arriving home, I ate half of the chicken quesadilla. It was delicious with lots of quality seasoned chicken I also cut off a piece of my mom's chicken burrito to try. Also delicious. My mom definitely enjoyed her chicken tortilla soup, which was loaded with shredded chicken and pico de gallo. We had lots of leftovers even though we ordered à la carte. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend this restaurant! I'm sure the experience would have been better dining inside. Also, next time will order dinner portions for more well rounded meals (e.g., quacemole and other sides). You may want to stop by for an early dinner because this restaurant has quite the following!! P.S. If you care about whether the refried beans contain lard, they do. And they don't have black beans as an option for those who don't want lard in their beans. Guess the lard is more authentic Mexican but not what I had hoped for...
