I wrote this place off for a while but stumbled in to grab some roadies before an evening on the roof and have been coming back since. I love the sarcastic guy. Sean and Seth were great hosts and very helpful with making our beer selections. They have an entire wall of taps but even more choices available to drink in or take to go as a bottle shop! They serve food and snacks but also don't mind if you bring food in or have it delivered. One of my favorite neat things about this place is the somewhat nose-clearing/cleansing fresh & crisp scent approaching the front door (do I know what the fuck it comes from? nope). Kind of like a subdued invigorating feel. The staff on hand is often pretty chill and friendly. I think I got a nice decaf oat latte once just for kicks (not bad) but I come for the N/A options. Dude, check it: so much cool kombucha varieties AND beers! I think I counted 10+ beer options, I'm pretty sure. And none of that cheaper stuff you'd find at your regular ol' box grocer; this is some super good artisinal shit! Thumbs up for the N/A variety dudes. I've been to TeKu Tavern a couple of times now and really enjoyed it! Great selection of tap beers and huge selection of bottles and cans to buy and take home. We kept passing by this place, which was completely packed, so we decided to go when it wasn't too crowded. This very modern, yet cozy cafe embodies all of the things I enjoy. I didn't expect to have fun during my visit, but I did. I only came in to relax and have a drink after playing pickleball one day. I honestly thought TeKu was going to be a corner market that served beer. Instead I walked into an actual beer hall that is very small and a lot more modern than what I'm used to. I don't think this is a German beer hall either. Even crazier, there were plenty of people inside, but it was only 3pm on a Wednesday. The ordering counter is up front when you walk in. You order your drink based on size for most. A few only come in one size. The seating are is to the side. There are fridges through with individual beverages you can purchase. I didn't pay much attention to those as the beer I ordered tasted great. Also there are tvs all around. This would be a great place to come and watch a sports game. read more

TeKu Tavern + Café is a bar and cafe located close to downtown Seattle, Washington. They feature not only a huge selection of beers to go, but also serve beer on draft (which I got a flight of), have plenty of seating, and have food! They also open early in order to serve coffee as well. So whether needing coffee to start your day or beer to get through the rest of it - they got you. I tried five beers while there, focusing on Fresh Hop beers (when in Rome...) Citra Slicker Wet Hop IPA: An IPA brewed by Bale Breaker Brewing Company in collaboration with Cloudburst Brewing focusing on fresh Citra. Bright citrus flavors with some very minor earthy notes that make it feel like an orange picked off the ground in an orchard. Green Harvester: An IPA brewed by Single Hill Brewing in collaboration with Bale Breaker using fresh, wet, Loftus Ranches and Tributary Hop Farms Mosaic with super fresh hop pellets of Loftus Farms HBC 630 and Idaho 7. Dank, piney, and bright. An awesome IPA! Bodhizafa: An IPA brewed by Georgetown Brewing Company by taking their Gold Medal Award Winning and adding an additional 1,500 lbs of Fresh Citra hops from Double R Farms (Yakima). That brings it up to 25 lbs of hops per barrel! Bright and citrusy, mandarin orange like. Peche: A Lambic Sour brewed by pFriem by adding heirloom peaches to their year-old Lambic inspired ale. WARNING: Make sure you check the prices if you buy anything from the fridges!! I've come to this location often to get a six pack of beer and it's reasonably priced usually. I went in just now to buy an enclosed six pack of beer that said 19.75 as the price and the person working tried to charge me $40. I informed this person that the price tag said 19.75 and she shrugged it off and went about her business without attempting to rectify the issue. Be careful that you don't get overcharged! $40 for a six pack of beer that you could buy for $15 dollars at any other place that sells it is absurd. read more

Teku tavern is a unique bar with a fantastic beer collection. They have beers on tap and in the fridge sections where you'll find a wide range of offering. If you choose one of the bottles and drink in the bar, you may have to pay for corkage. The overall vibe is also great and you'll be steps away from the space needle! The staff is good. We also took some beer to go from there fridges, that were very good as well! The drinks from the fridges are a little more on the expensive side, but fun to try. Love Teku for its chill atmosphere and events. They have large long tables that you can hangout with a large group. I love that they host things like Puzzle Pints and Trivia Nights on Wednesdays and more. It's one of my fav. venues for these events because it's well lit and so much space. It never feels too cramped up. They have a huge variety of drinks in the fridges that you can just grab yourself and get it opened up and pay up front. They have a small selection of non-alcoholics in the fridge up front. The only thing to note is they have very limited food options - a few sandwiches and wraps in the fridge up front. You can ask to get the sandwiches heated up. I do believe they turn off their ovens/toasters a little bit before closing so don't wait until then to get your sandwich! read more

Came here 11/25/2022. TeKu Tavern is a beer-den + public board game hall. You do NOT need to be 21+ to enter. They have a good variety of card games and board games (Monopoly, Cards Against Humanity, Codenames, Coup, etc). Quite empty on a Friday night, generally that would be a bad thing but I won't draw too many conclusions for now. We came about an hour or two before close. It's a really snug and cozy space to hang with your friends and catch up over a drink! -1 because the bartender is distant and reserved, and isn't knowledgeable about the drinks. read more

COVID review: I have been frequenting Teku Tavern for years and have always received great service. They have made changes during COVID to adhere to current state guidelines. When they were open for indoor seating, they placed placards on each table where you flip over after you're done using the table...this signals that the table needs to be cleaned. Currently, with no indoor seating for the next few weeks, you can still buy beer bottles and wine to-go and can also get beer on tap in crowlers. Teku continues to have a wide variety of beers to choose from and is very clean. Upon arrival, there is an automatic hand sanitizer inside the doorway and inside near the beer fridges. They also have a glass set up in front of the register as a boundary between you and the worker. Overall, I'm happy to see Teku trying to survive through all this and think it's a great family-owned business to support. read more

Was in Seattle for a wedding and wanted to grab a few bottles to sample and enjoy back at our hotel room. We came in 30 mins before closing, and the employee at the checkout/bar was very brusque and unwelcoming with us. I understood that we were coming in close to closing but I wasn't expecting to be given an attitude when asking a couple questions (literally the two were: 'are the stickers free' and 'do you have Incline Cider') to the point that other people in our party commented on how much attitude was given. We were so impressed by the beer selection and was fairly hyped that they also had some more midweight board games, but left with a bad taste after the interaction we had. Would like to give the benefit of the doubt and say it was an off day. Teku is definitely the kind of vibe we enjoy, so we hope to give it another shot when we're back in the area again. read more

Teku is probably the go to spot in SLU for all things beverages. You couldn't find a better cafe and bar in the area that is combined with the amount of space afforded to you as well. Whether it's sitting and doing work like you see in one of my photos where I received a delicious latte with amazing latte art, or it's getting my personal favorite Hazy IPA to enjoy mid day on the patio it's truly a unique spot. Highly suggest! They have tacos as well with an assortment of snacks which is super rare for any beer focused bar in the city. Stopped in for a beer while it was raining outside. They seem to have board games/D&D going on certain days which makes sense because it's super spacious and have lots of long tables or even couches for people to sit at. Not sure if they allow outside food but their selection of food is minimal which is made up by the huuuuge beer selection! (Beers a food right?) I was a bit bummed that they have a corkage fee for the beer you purchase there but I guess you've got to be making money for the space as well. Tons of beers on tap, lots of variety and they have a huge selection of cans/bottles that can be opened on site for drinking or taken to go. Lovely place ! Nice customer service and it had a hugeeee collections of drinks ! Excellent outdoor seating ! We got a view of the monorail from the outdoor seating and the place is also very close to the space needle . The blueberry bourbon basil was lovely ! It is the one in the tiny glass in the picture ! The fair isle and the demonteller was good and refreshing. But I liked the blueberry bourbon the best ! If you just wanna do a get together with friends / all by yourself or your partner , this is a lovely place ! I also saw that they had some discounted wine for sale !! The only weird thing I found was the size! Lol! We got like 8 ounce and 12 ounces in weird shaped glasses which did really look full! I really, really, really wish I was into beer like all of my friends, but I just can't. It's not my thing. But I did appreciate the ciders they had available! This place was so chill; we literally stayed for 3 or 4 hours. They have large, long tables that can be used for group events, card games, whatever your heart desires! They have a great beer selection and earlier today I had great help from an employee. But was just in and grabbed a beer from the tap and they couldn't tell me which version of the beer I'm drinking. How are you going to cater to beer enthusiasts and not be able to read a keg and let a customer know what version the beer is? Not to mention the bartender was not very personable or friendly. This experience has tainted my view on this establishment. As a second attempt I asked about the mulled hot cider on tap which was by Schilling called Chaider. I asked if it had chai in it and the bartender had zero clue. Jesus. Guy just eats chips away from any customer and has been watching Harry Potter. I've only been here once, but when I came, everything was great! The space is large, with lots of tables and bar area to sit at, with fridges of beers and ciders lining the walls. They have games that you can play while drinking as well, which is always fun with groups of friends. When we walked in, we were greeted right away by the bartender who made friendly conversation, recommended some drinks, and acted genuinely interested in finding the best thing to drink for us. I noticed they had a special that day, a mulled apple cider from Portland Cider Company, and chose that. Wow, it was delicious. Something about warm alcoholic cider on a cold night is just the best, especially from my favorite cider spot from back home. I do wish they had more ciders, because I'm not a huge beer fan, but the ones that I sampled, were real good. read more
