I've only been here once, but when I came, everything was great! The space is large, with lots of tables and bar area to sit at, with fridges of beers and ciders lining the walls. They have games that you can play while drinking as well, which is always fun with groups of friends. When we walked in, we were greeted right away by the bartender who made friendly conversation, recommended some drinks, and acted genuinely interested in finding the best thing to drink for us. I noticed they had a special that day, a mulled apple cider from Portland Cider Company, and chose that. Wow, it was delicious. Something about warm alcoholic cider on a cold night is just the best, especially from my favorite cider spot from back home. I do wish they had more ciders, because I'm not a huge beer fan, but the ones that I sampled, were real good. read more

Been coming to this place for years now.. great place to hangout with friends.. great beer and wine selections.. the prices are not that bad either.. they do not offer food but you are free to order up from uber eats,caviar etc and sit inside and eat.. this is really a good thing cos you can enjoy great drinks and your favourite food from your favourite restaurant without having to move from this location.. the ambience is nice ans casual can get loud at times.. pets are welcome as well.. all in all a great place to hangout especially for large groups.. read more

Beer bar (mostly--they do have some wine) w/an ENORMOUS wall of refrigerator cases. If you're looking for a beer that is rare, weird, new, or interesting, this is the place to go. They also have a very large (50+?) selection of mostly (but not exclusively) local taps. No kitchen, but they do have a deli fridge with some snacks for sale in it, and you're allowed to bring food in. They do allow dogs if you like that kind of thing. Decent amount of seating: mostly tables of various sizes, plus a little at the bar and one couch area. There's a selection of board games. They allow dogs and have dog treats for them, nuff said. Okay, for humans - this place is a great spot between the South Lake Union and Belltown areas. It's a tap room that features different beers and wine on tap, but also sells bottles in store, which you can purchase and sip there. The selection of craft brews is top-notch. TeKu is named after the Italian glassware that they serve some of their beers (and wine) in. You order at the bar, as they have a tap list of what's being served, in addition to the different ounces its served in and the prices. I particularly like that whatever you're a fan of - they have everything categorized to specifics, like gluten-free cider or barrel-aged stouts, etc... And if you buy a bottle from the fridge all of the prices are listed on there. There's a good amount of seating, including a couple long tables for groups. In my last visit I came for my friend's birthday party and a group of 10 of us were able to fit around the table. TeKu also allows people to bring their own food, which was nice and there are plenty of food options around the area nearby. But just in case you forgot your snack - they serve complimentary pretzels. There's also a big screen projector and a couple TVs here, and street parking isn't too difficult to find. These guys roared into the beer world seemingly fully-formed from their first day--they had sewn up good relationships with breweries and distributors before their doors even opened, and had all kinds of good kegs and bottles/cans right away. They have a great space on the north side of downtown. Plenty of room. Big long bar. Half a dozen bottle coolers. Lots of windows. The ambiance is somewhere between retail store and watering hole; they took care to put up nice decorations and the place feels very finished, but the bright lighting and basic furniture keep it from having a late-night feel. That might be on purpose; they might not want a rowdy 1:00 AM crowd at all (if they're even open that late). The staff are nice kids for sure. They definitely hired kids who will take the time to learn the taplist, though they aren't beer geeks. Prices are good, and they offer clean pours into clean glasses. The only real drawback here is the parking; there just isn't any nearby. I'll definitely be back. read more

Three issues with this establishment: (1) the guy behind the counter gave off the whole "I could care less if you're here vibe", (2) they charge a corkage fee for bottled beers you buy at the store - a corkage fee is charged by restaurants when you bring in a bottle of wine, and (3) they turned off the draft beers when I came in at 7:45 - so I don't think the closing time of 8:00 is really accurate. Absolutely loved this place. We were first-time visitors and happened upon here by chance (waiting for a flight home) and could not be more happy with our experience! My SO and I are huge craft beer enthusiasts who often beer-see (like sightsee...get it?) and were surprised that we didn't know of this place before visiting Seattle. The servers are so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly that we ended up talking the whole time while we were there. Maybe I should have done my research ahead of time and then would have realized they didn't have *ANY* food. Probably my bad. I asked for a mulled cider and the guy told me that it was too cold at the moment. He turned the crockpot on. I don't know, something about that seemed strange to me. The cider was just sitting in the crockpot on the counter.... I asked him how long it was going to take to heat up and the answer I got was "I don't know. It's a crockpot, it doesn't have a timer". Wow, thanks for letting me know how a crockpot works. Also, why was it just sitting there "off" the entire time? How do you expect to serve it if no one ever turns it on...? I was annoyed and just ended up getting a sparkling water, at least they had Topico. The place clearly has an extensive and impressive selection of beer. We loved this place so much we made two stops during our three day trip in Seattle! We stumbled upon their trivia night, which is highly entertaining, and then came another time to watch a hockey game. The vibe is laid back, but enjoyable. Not too loud, but rarely has an empty seat. TeKu Tavern is easily the most well-stocked beer bar in its neck of the woods. It's close to Amazon-land, yet also easily accessible via the 8 bus if you're looking to specifically check it out. If the tap selection isn't enough, there are fridges (grouped by style) with bottles upon bottles of even more beer. You can buy bottles to go or consume them on premises for a reasonable corkage fee. The beer is always solid, albeit pricier than at other spots in the city. You're certainly paying for convenience--the post-work HH game is strong here, and you may have to fight for a table. Service is a bit apathetic and slow, but you'll eventually be served. Bartenders know their stuff and can talk shop with you if you're trying to decide between a few beers. They don't serve their own food, but you're welcome to bring in takeout or order delivery from an here. Overall, a perfectly fine place to enjoy a pint. read more

Let me preface this review with the fact that I was there a little after noon on a Wednesday, so obviously not at a time that it would be super busy or crowded. With that said, TeKu Tavern is LEGIT!!!!!!! I can see that parking may be the only issue because of it's location BUT parking is an issue for majority of the places in Seattle that don't have a dedicated parking lot. The selection here is AMAZING and it won't be difficult to find something for even the most snobbiest of beer snobs. The atmosphere and service is also EXCEPTIONAL and I'm positive that I will be back at some point. It's about a 45 minute to an hour drive (without traffic) from the area that I live but it is DEFINITELY worth the drive. THIS PLACE IS HEAVEN! Remember back when the tunnel was being built in Seattle? I was to work security at the south end. Which means I had to walk right by this place every day in order to get to work. Well, I FINALLY got to go there and all I have to say is, I should've been going a long time ago. It's kinda hard to describe this place except by saying it's a grocery market that only sells craft beer. And NO, I don't mean the mass-produced bullshit you can get on any corner. I mean the seasonal, hard to find, once a year shit that your dreams are made of. The kind of beer you mark on your calendar. The space is basic. Cement floors, mostly wooden benches. I think it's also important to mention that they DONT take cash. Only card or tap-to-pay. One of the coolest things is that you can order food to be delivered there and enjoy your pint of choice. They really don't have a kitchen, so they offer that option. There is also a very cook trivia night as well. Basically, if you are a beer snob like me. Or a person of elevated tastes, this is the place for you. If you are a person who appreciates the effort and passion that goes into a small-batch brew, this is the place for you. read more

Dropped in on a Friday afternoon to grab a beer after walking around Seattle for most of the day. Nice selection of draft beers and lots of seating. We appreciated its 21+ only and found the refrigerator selection extensive! We ended up coming back Saturday as well to enjoy a pour. My criticisms lie with it being pretty pricey for a 4 ounce pour and having coded bathrooms. Felt like a major inconvenience asking for the code---our service on Saturday was much friendlier than on Friday. Saturday's bartender actually came around checking on folks, Friday sat at the end of the bar on their computer the whole time unless you approach the register. read more

About damn time, a good beer spot in the area. Teku excels in 2 aspects, bottles and beers on tap, with a selection not found in most places in Seattle I've been to. The long and short of it: 1. Beer! Yay beer! The selection here is phenomenal and growing. Multiple coolers stocked with imports, more coolers on the way, and 20+ beers on tap that are constantly changing. Bottles can be opened and drunk on site so try something new! You were getting bored of Space Dust anyway. 2. Food. They don't have food on site but allow you to bring in your own (BYOF?). There's plenty of great palaces in the area so this works really well. 3. Atmosphere. A mix of upscale but cozy. Plenty of tables for smaller groups and large picnic tables for larger groups. It's spacious enough to pack plenty in. It's also dog friendly so bring the pooch! 4. Entertainment. Sometimes you just want to watch the game with a beer (Washington currently upon the Dodgers 1-0 in the NLDS). Teku has a projector and 3 TVs, not a ton but plenty to grab the game you want. This is my new hangout spot and for good reason. It's big enough for a group, small enough to hole up and get work done, and offers a selection of beer that will keep me trying new stuff for awhile. Nice beer selection. Horribly rude staff treat customers like crap. Bizarrely coded locked restrooms - I've never seen that before in my life in a bar. What is this - a Starbucks? You have to walk all the way across the entire length of the long bar to the rude bar staff for the code which they let you know that they don't like being bothered for (along with any other modicum of service) Avoid this place they are rude jerks and don't deserve your business. read more

TeKu has a great selection of well-priced beers with quite a few on draft and even more in the reach-in coolers along the walls. It is clearly set up for groups to meet up and drink up with long social tables as well as the cozier pub tables and 4-ups. Service was less than stellar though. I wasn't sure exactly what I was supposed to do when I was greeted by a silent stare. When I asked to see a menu, the bar tender thumbed over his shoulder at the flat screen displaying the beers on draft. Not exactly welcoming. read more

Cool new beer spot in downtown Seattle! We came during the soft opening, and it's located on the corner of Denny and Taylor, near the Space Needle. We were thinking parking would be a pain due to it's location, but street parking is available within a block radius, I'm sure that will change once the word is out on this place... So we were chatting it up with Andrew, one of the tapmasters at Teku Tavern to get the scoop. The official grand opening is in mid-October, Oct. 18, I believe. As of right now, they are not serving food, but they offer some snacks, so you can bring in outside food. It is a 21 and over only establishment, and the four-legged family members are welcome. They only have 18, mostly local, taps right now, and are planning to have up to 50. I partook (is that a word?) of the Georgetown Bodhizafa IPA, a definite hoppy beer, with a hint of citrus. They also have bottled beers, which you can enjoy on site, as long as they open it for you. The fridges are about a third full for now and are labeled according to the type of beer each section holds, but I'm sure as the grand opening approaches, they'll be pretty full. They are planning on offering growler fills, but while we were there, they were not fully set up for that. As for the space, it is laid out well. There are picnic tables for the larger groups, there are also tables and chairs throughout, a little lounge/sofa area, too, and of course, grabbing a seat at the bar is always welcome. This is my spot in downtown to relax and grab a beer. The draft selection here is awesome! Not to mention the great selection of beer on can or bottle. They have beers from all over the world and local beers as well. I love that you can pick any can or bottle of beer and drink it here as well. There is a $2 cork fee for any beer that is $0-$9.99 and more $ as the ca/ bottles go up in price. You can also bring in food from any local restaurant or have it delivered here. This bar has a great selection and is in a really good location. More positives include the fact that it's clean and had lots of space for a group. The pours run a little expensive for what they are, moreso because the pour we got was a good portion foam- my 12oz can of cider was a larger pour in the same size glass as my husband's pint. Also, they don't note the fee for having any of the cans or bottles opened on site- not an uncommon practice, but it would've been good to know the price would be double. We probably won't return or recommend to our friends given the amount of great beer around here. read more

They have long communal tables for a walk-in group as well as small small tables and an outdoor area (which didn't have tables on my visit so it could just be for smoking). Jeez I love this place. Are the beers overpriced? Yes. Do they have a great beer wall to select from? Yes. Do I meet here just about every weekend to play board games or Magic? You betcha. I love that you can bring in food from anywhere, that it's dog friendly, will often be playing the prominent sport event of the day, has board games to loan out, and will have a new tap lineup every time i go. I find the servers to occasionally be oddly cold and I'm not a fan of the open tab but card with you shtick, but I can look past this. Will return many times. read more

They have a great collection on tap and huge line up of bottled beers from around the world. My personal favorites on tap are the pfriem and the grapefruit radler.
