I've been trying to get the money I was overcharged back from them for a month. Their messaging agents are robotic a-holes and so I went into the branch. The guy who helped me was kind but apparently didn't bother to file the paperwork. Deposited a payment check into my business account on 2/28. Partial amount was available immediately while 90% of the deposited amount was tagged to be held for 7 working days. It is now 3/10 (10 days later) and the 90% held amount is still not available. I contacted the business that issued payment and the total amount was taken out of the account on 3/3 (a week ago). Telhio received my funds on 3/3, while holding up my access to the funds until 3/10. Calls to Telhio were met with "sorry, the hold is our policy". Appears Telhio is using my $50K+ funds for 7 days interest free. Illegal - maybe, unethical - definitiely! Can't run a business when a bank, Telhio, is holding deposites for 10 days (7 working days). Missing payroll or supplier payments while Telhio Credit Union holds/uses my money is unaceptable! read more

This is the only credit union or bank I've ever worked with that doesn't offer to take overdrafts from your savings. An automatic payment came out of my checking that I had forgotten about, which is why I dislike paperless billing in the first place, though I wasn't given a choice on that payment. The resultant fee was beyond exorbitant, reflecting nothing less than unbridled greed, especially considering a deposit was pending. I had a substantial amount of cash in my savings, but they proceeded with the charges anyway. When I called, they offered no reasonable solution. I am a small business owner that moved from other credit union to them about 5-6 years ago and have had recent identity theft (not through them). They helped me through all that. I go to the grove city location and Aryin and (- I forget his name the one with glasses and the ponytail and the woman with long braids) and Racheal have all been awesome! True story. I was just out of college and had my very first car loan through Telhio. First problem was that they waited 7 days after my direct deposit for it to show up on my account once. Cost me a bounce check at Sam's club because the money reached my account late. Second, I had my first car loan through them. I just got laid off from my job so I called them to see if I could pay HALF of my payment until I find a new job. The rep at the bank thanked me for calling and said it would be NO PROBLEM to make half payments until I find a new job. 3 days after my call they sent someone to my apartment at 3am and repossessed my vehicle. I called the bank who politely told me that they would return the car if I pay it off AND include a 1,500 penalty fee because they had to repossess it. I would NEVER do business with this institution EVER no matter how good of an interest rate they off you. read more

Not Reliable at all. I paid our vehicle off in June of 2018, early in fact as i paid over the payment amount each and every month, and the lean was not released from my title until 2022! I had made attempts to get this corrected and was told the title would be mailed to me. In 2022 I was told they would have sent it to my old address, that we moved from in December of 2019. Let me advise you that the lie that was told was confirmed to be a lie simply because they still help the lean until June of 2022! Unprofessional employees and a lack of do diligence on their part. I give them one star because it's not possible to give no stars at all. I went to their Morse Road office because I received a letter saying I missed a payment along with a couple of late charges. They couldn't resolve the issue because my loan was originated with Metro Columbus who Telhio merged with last year. They gave me the collections phone number to try and get this resolved. Luckily, I had receipts for all my payments for the past five years. They were trying to say I was a month behind on my payments which was false. It took two phone calls and a scan of some past payments to get this resolved (I hope!). read more

I was a member from 1972 until 2021. Telhio is the worst!! Service totally sucks. Waits in lobbies and drive throughs are way too long. Telhio doesn't care about good customer service. Actually, on one occasion I got FABULOUS customer service. I complained to a Telhio employee. I said I was considering closing my accounts. She rapidly said, "may I help you with that?" I said I had been a member since 1972. I asked if she was alive then. Of course, she was not nearly that old. By the way, I had several payments and deposits going into the account. Social Security took over 3 months to be switched to another financial institution. Had I allowed her to close the account... my Social Security would have been in Never Never land for 3 months. Telhio is by far the worst 'bank' that you could possibly find. I have delt with them numerous times for both clients and personal regarding family members that unfortunately had accounts there. Never -not even once- have I ever had a positive phone call, let alone a positive experience. Their customer service is horrible on every front, and the hoops that they want you to jump through for simple tasks is unbelievable. Loans get delayed, and keeping with the horrible customer service go completely unresponsive for days at a time. There is no aspect of this place that is good, and it baffles me how they have the cult-like following that they do. Wow. Spent 30 years with Columbus metro and never had a problem. Since the take over, I've had nothing BUT problems. Just spent over 5 minutes in the drive thru....had to finally honk to get someone to even come to the window. Says she's the only person there....her manager is elsewhere. Says there are a lot of folks inside ahead of me. I said I'd wait for a bit.....25 minutes later still no one came. I left. I will also be taking my money elsewhere. I must say I do not agree with all of these negative comments about Telhio. I know personally Telhio goes out of their way as much as possible to assist their members, other than giving the entire credit union away I am not sure what all these other people want or need. I have never had a problem with receiving my direct deposit when my employer sends it. In fact they even utilize a 2 day early deposit now. Telhio was also the very first financial institution to provide me with my very first auto loan without a co-signer. I was young and my credit was not that high back then. I have been faithful to them ever since. If you think you can find an institution that care more for their members and does more for their members good luck. I promise it wont be at a PNC, USbank, Chase, Huntington. They aren't bad institutions, but they are black in white in all policies. You will not get the personal care like you do at Telhio or most credit unions. During Covid they not only continued their 15 day grace period they even were doing loan deferments on all consumer installment loans up to 3 months, pretty much no questions asked. read more

They will offer you terrible rates... Rates that other banks will easily beat. They currently offer nothing of value to compensate for their terrible rates so I would highly suggest you take your business elsewhere. For example: Check out bankrate or depositaccounts or a similar site and compare the rates they will offer you on your money vs just about anywhere else in central Ohio. We have banks that will give you 2.5% or higher with no minimum balance... Telhio offers 0.05%.... Literally 1/50th of a rate with more than one offering in columbus. Then there are their loan rates: Don't ask them for money. Just don't. They will f*** you over for certain. My most recent event (and the one that has ended my business with Telhio) is that I wanted to buy a car. So I went to my bank of over a decade first... Telhio offered me a "generous" offering of $30k at a rate of 7.9% .... I IMMEDIATELY went to a dealership and WellsFargo offered me the full amount I needed for the vehicle at NEARLY HALF THE RATE (3.90% to be exact). Then, to make sure Telhio would lose my business... I directly asked the representative at Telhio to have someone with authority contact me... She didn't even reply to my request. This is exactly the sort of experience you can expect from Telhio. I spent more than a decade as their customer and I can provide several stories from just my personal experience that are similar. Sometime in the past, a few years ago, they changed their direction as an institution to the detriment of their customer base. Don't walk into their viper pit willingly. If I could do less then 1 star I would. Between the lack of communication and ball drops I would never recommend this company to anyone. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THEM unless you want 30 years of having to pull your hair out because they don't fix their mistakes. We opened our 30 yr mortgage with them and have had nothing but issues from them messing up our loan to forgetting to include important details in our loan. They have LIED about what we would be paying , what our closing disclosure would be and even that they would take care of everything. So far I have had to double check all their work and point out all their mistakes because they 'ASSUME' all mortgages will be the same. Literally they use the word 'assume' to everything. - they assume this , they assume that. They don't verify or confirm or even double check which leads to misleading information and honestly just a headache to deal with. I am on my 3rd issue that has come up and if anything else's comes I will post another review and include names because this has become ridiculous and such a waste of my time. Examples of what happened so far. - closing day came around and the title company came to our house to do signing. The night before the rep sent us the 'final' closing disclosure and stated this is it - nothing will change from here(9pm the night before ). The rep showed up and BC I'm a numbers person I realized it was 4500$ less the the disclosure stated. I asked the rep why and he had no clue. We called our agent no answer texted and left vmails and even called the processer lady and no answer. Finally the title guy got ahold of his boss and they informed us that two hours prior they realized they forgot to include this yrs property taxes. NO ONE CALLED US NO ONE INFORMED US NOTHING no notice. So after 1.5 hours of trying to figure out what happened we were told and not only wasted our time but were irritated that the company we were paying to handle Our mortgage didn't have the decency to call in let us know it would be different- later finding out tht they all went home early (hahahahh) which is a joke. Next situation was two months after getting the mortgage set up our insurance agent called to inform us that the mortgage company hasn't paid yet. Unsure why I gave them a call and their response was hmmm idk . Let me look into it and i will call u back in 5 minutes. But hearing back from him I called him back - no answer , called 6 more times before the end of the day while leaving vmails NO RESPONSE. The next day I called first thing in the morning and finally sent an email also. They responded to my email what happened not evening calling me back or returning my vmail. So I called blocked and they finally answered which infuriated me. (My insurance agent also had been calling) He said he wasn't sure why they didn't include the annual insurance on our closing but they didn't. Now irate because this is their job to make sure this is handled. And they are telling me I need to just come out of pocket the annual amount until next year where they will have the Escrow account opened for next year. (There is sooooo much more I could add but my fingers hurt from typing this ) I will do a follow up later but believe me when I said this FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO HANDLE YOUR MORTGAGE - don't waste your time honestly. read more

I would not recommend this credit union to anyone. I was with them over 32 years. For the start it was fine. They were friendly, courteous and worked with you. Now they are no where near friendly, courteous or like to work with you. I was in the hospital twice last year. Which by being single I got behind on my bill. I asked them to work with my, what did I get ,,, overdraft charges , a couple hundred bucks. I asked my friend to look my account over. Seems when a deposit was made they would hold it for a day or more. That caused overdraft fees. I'm with a real bank now and would never to back to them or recommend them. Same with my friend we went in to pay a bill, no greeting, paid in cash and then informed they had no change. They didn't have a key to the change machine in the lobby. I was forced to lease my vehicle through them via Toyota Direct and it has been nothing but a disaster. Let's be clear, I've got an 800+ credit score - they just never gave me a choice. I've had this lease since July 2016 and I shouldn't be surprised as to how it continues to trend because they LOST MY FIRST PAYMENT and blamed it on my. (Miraculously finding my check the day after the collections department told me I had to make a payment via credit card to avoid a late fee. I use a prominent BillOay service run via CheckFree to pay ALL of my bills and TelHio is the ONLY place that ever has this issue. They have every excuse in the book. "We don't take electronic payments." (It's not, they send a check guaranteed to arrive on the date I schedule) "It's not our fault - it's the Post Office / Bill Pay service.l (again, none of my other billers ever have this problem) "We don't hold checks - they are processed as soon as we receive them." (Not true, the Bill Pay service sends it well in advance of the due date - again, nobody else I Pay has this issue ever.) Speaking to their customer service people is like talking to a slow child. They simply continue to repeat scripted answers when faced with logical questions and facts if the situation. I would recommend to look elsewhere to find a financial institution that can actually collect and process payments in a professional manner and have educated customer facing employees. Also, my speculation is that it is a miserable place to work, because each time I've had to reconcile these payment issues I get an e-mail address of someone in the back office and the next time it occurs (every 4 or 5 months) I e-mail the last person from my files and they surprisingly no longer work there. That is a major red flag in my opinion when looking for a company to trust with your financial dealings. It makes me especially suspicious about potential breeches and things if they have that much turnover and such ooorly trained employees. Bottom line - bank elsewhere... read more

A few months ago my credit union was taken over by Telhio... after 24 years with the same bank I am leaving. Telhio has been an absolute nightmare. Debits posting days late, credits not going in on time, tons of fees ( membership fee, statement fee, they even charge a fee for using a different banks ATM * this is on top of the other banks fee, TAX on fees ....) I wait at least 20 + minutes in line every time I go, this is both inside and in the drive thru. This bank does not even deserve 1 star but I do not have the option for none. read more

Telhio very well might be a decent Credit Union, but I only know about how they treated me. I became a member about 2 months ago when they bought out my current credit union and transferred all of the accounts over. Because of some subtle differences between Telhio and my previous credit union (which were probably explained in the welcome packet they they sent to the wrong address) I ended up being changed $456 in fees in a 30 day period. While I was with my previous credit union I banked the same was as always and would occationaly get an insufitiant funds fee (I'm living paycheck to paycheck - stuff happens), but in the 3-4 years I was with them I probably payed a total of $450 in these fees, never in a 30 day period! To be clear I'm not free of fault in all of those fees. Had I still been with my old credit union I may have ended up with about $40-60 worth of fees. I've tried talking to Telhio, but they've made it clear to me that they don't care that I'm a new customer and that I should have read the paperwork that they sent to the wrong address that I never agreed to. They've also made it clear that they don't care if I stop banking with them. To call their customer service bad would be an insult to people who work customer service. Telhio doesn't have customer service. If they treated more new accounts like they did me they wouldn't have customers either. read more

At their downtown branch in the drive thru... Been in line behind 2 cars for over 20 minutes. I have been a long time member and cannot fathom how bad their service has slipped over the years. I am now waiting at the time station as I have been writing this review. I'm at the 4th of 4 terminals and still have not heard from a teller. My items were sent over 5 minutes ago. I'm simply requesting a withdrawal of a small amount. Very disappointed and very frustrated with the amount of time spent here. I've had various other issues with the credit union but this adds to the disappointment and put me over the edge. Just terrible.. read more

The Good: Telhio has been very flexible and amenable to providing home loans and lines of credit that other banks would not. Telhio offers small business banking and credit (although they were fairly new to that segment when I opened my accounts a few years ago. Compared to other traditional banks that I had Years of banking "relationships" had failed - at least Telhio was willing.). Another good, Telhio went ahead and finally updated their ATMs at most locations (except Morse Rd). Telhio has begun to offer more personalized service and has given me a call before things went bad on an account - that is really appreciated. And lastly, I have found most of the reps to be friendly and accommodating - however.... The Bad: Paying my bills at Telhio up til last year was ridiculously inconvenient until the upgraded their ATMs to accept deposits. (Sorry, making cash loan payments at a night drop was not within my comfort zone). Another negative - having 2 mortgage loans with them I did not notice the sneaky little $40+ fees they had been charging me (ON BOTH LOANS) until late into the loan payments. Although I gave them verbal and written notification that I did not want that insurance product they continued to charge me. One day I accidentally found that they had sent me a form via their online portal (not to my personal email - nor informed me at one of my many visits) and that form was the only way to "officially" cancel the fees. (Although it has been very difficult to address many things appropriately during this Covid disruption -- I will be addressing those fees with Telhio and getting that shored up correctly in the very near future. Lastly, I must admit that a few of the Telhio reps that I have encountered were laughably incompetent (but not funny if they make a mistake with my money)! read more

I had a savings account set up in my sons name through this credit union that had like $1000 in it and was %100 his money and they took it all and put it towards my loans I had with this bank. I've had Telhio for a number of years now, and put up with an unbelievable amount of shit from them. Last year I applied for a mortgage, and was told that I was more than qualified, and got pre-approved and everything. Then, after going into contract on a house, I got a call informing me that their investor didn't feel comfortable that I didn't have a ton of credit cards taken out and that they couldn't actually approve my loan (after letting me go into contract and renegging on their pre-approval). This actually worked out well, because I went to another bank and got a much better rate with fewer fees anyhow, but the latest thing that has finally pushed me over the edge into closing my accounts are a new mystery charge of $5.00 that they just posted to my account, justified as "Membership Fees". If I would have had any notice that they'd start charging hidden fees, then I would have addressed the issue earlier, but I wonder what else I might have missed. I know when I opened the account I opted out of paper statements, but they saw fit to charge me $10 a month for non-existant paper statements anyways. Don't accidentally pay $2.00 short on your payment. They didn't notify me until 2 days before sending me to collections. I told them to take it out of my savings it was an honest mistake and was charged $13 to take it out of my savings. Come to find out they could have waived the fee for me but I already authorized it. I have never had any kind of dealings with Telhio Credit Union. Apperantly a relative of mine did finance a car with them. She is behind on her payments and they contacted me even though I had nothing to do with the matter. I explained to them I had no information on my relative or where she even lived One if their employees in the collection dept named Walter keeps harrassing me. He even called my landlord & lied to them by saying this relative was living with me and we are on drugs. He also stated he spoke to my neighbor and they confirmed this relative lived with me. The neighbor he stated he spoke to hasn't lived in the house next to me in 3 yrs so he had to go through there mailbox to even get her name as to it is her parents house. All I can say is he dragged my name through the dirt and told outrageous lies on me. As I stated before I have absolutely nothing to do with this business transaction but be related to someone that owes them money.
