How this place has garnered 3.5 stars is beyond me. The place is dirty and the floor is disgusting. We perused the menu and could not find anything we could stomach in that environment. We had a soda and a glass of wine, that took about 30 minutes, too bad it took another 30 minutes to get the bill. I suspect it was our punishment for not ordering more. read more

Very disappointed. Have eaten here since opening. Usually good, if ordering specials or consistently prepared menu items. Ordered 2 mixed green salads. Just a slight hint of dressing on the bottom of the plate, a couple of very small crumples of cheese, one or two bits of nuts. $16 cost, about $2.00 worth of salad, if that. Expect ups and downs in quality, but this was as down as you can get. No excuse for this. read more

One of the worst service ever. We had to wait for ever for survey to stop by our table.. And finally one shows up and then again ignores the table and walks by and pretends not noticing that we are ready for our order. We waited for about another few minutes and left the place. Martini's are great and they have a great selection . Onion rings have a kick and one can't go wrong with them. The wings are juicy. Jamaican jerk chicken had a nice twist with Boursin on top of it. Could reduce the quantity of the mashed sweet potato. Brie platter was tasty. Service is a tad bit slow. Decor is cosy. Service was good, but food was terrible. We went there during the week for lunch, and arrived around 12:30. There were only 5 tables in the restaraunt. We ordered some mixed drinks from the bar, and it took almost 30 minutes to get them. Food took almost an hour to get, and when we did, the waffle fries were stone cold and crunchy like they had been sitting out for hourrs. With so many great restaraunts in the downtown area, we won't be back. read more

We got referred to Tellers. It was a nice place for a great meal. Good comfort food options. Atmosphere is very friendly. There were three of us. One of us ordered the Chicken Cesar Salad. One of us ordered the Pork Chop and one of us had the Salmon. All three were very good. We also had to order a side of Tater Tots, had to do it. Very good. I would recommend eating here. I came here for lunch once and decided to try it for my birthday dinner with a small group of friends. The food was GREAT. We started with the fried artichokes with aioli sauce. Sooo good! I wish I knew how to make it myself. For the main course, I had the penne special with chicken and shrimp. Yum! My friends had salad and steaks, and everyone was happy with their order. Tellers also has a good martini selection. They're not too creative, but they're very tasty. Tellers also displays art from (local?) artists. When I first visited Tellers, there were some bright, vibrant paintings of people. The artwork during my dinner visit was bizarre and a little disturbing. One I remember in particular was of a fat, white man with mouths/teeth all over his body. I can't even begin to describe the painting, but it was incredibly disturbing. I'm just glad I didn't have to face it through dinner. I wonder how they select which artists to feature... The only drawback to Tellers was the slow service. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. However, between appetizers and the actual meal, time seemed to drag on. There were only four of us, and the restaurant wasn't full, so I don't understand why it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Once it did, we forgot totally about the wait, but it was still too long. I'm not sure if this was just a fluke or if Tellers is slow on a regular basis. read more

Our family was in town for my son's graduation from the University of Missouri School of Engineering. It was an early evening commencement so we wanted to take him out for a special dinner. After the ceremony we told him the night was his and asked him where he wanted to celebrate. He had a friend and co-worker who also happened to be a part/time chef at Teller's on Broadway so off we went. We had to wait about twenty minutes for a table to open for a party of five but after this experience, I would have waited an hour. Every thing about this experience was special from the fifteen year old Scotch used for my son's toast to the wine served with dinner. From appetizers to entrees and finally dessert Teller's was hitting on all levels. Bacon wrapped filets garnished in a Creole Sauce, Blackened Salmon, KC Strip all with exceptional flavor profiles. Desserts were in a league of their own. Sure we dropped a little coin but after all how many times does your son graduate from college? Service was professional and attentive to every need. Thanks Teller's for giving us an experience we will remember for a lifetime. read more

The food here really was delicious (although the Tellers Special should not have been listed under a sandwich since it most definitely was not) and we enjoyed the atmosphere, but the service was pretty rough. When we didn't order drinks our server was clearly unhappy with us & then it took our appetizer forever to come & our main dishes even longer. For 2 people our entire meal took an hour & a half & it wasn't even a busy time. It was pretty unreal. It was clear that it was taking far too long, but there was no acknowledgment of it or even attempt to move a tiny bit faster. read more

If you get in here when it's not busy, it great. During better weather, they have a little bit of outdoor seating, but it's right on the sidewalk, so depending how busy foot traffic is downtown effects your experience. They have excellent steaks, a nice selection of beer, and the waitstaff has always been friendly. read more

Went to Teller's for a late-night gathering of friends from graduate school. I can't speak to the food--honestly, I didn't know they served food until I saw these other Yelp reviews--as we were not graced with a food menu. Decent place to grab a beer with friends. The atmosphere was pretty low-key except that it's SO LOUD ... There's no dance floor or live DJ here. Maybe it's that we were there after 8 pm, but the music was of a level that it was difficult to hear people across the table and drink orders had to be shouted so loud the barkeep was wiping spit off his ear. It seemed pretty excessive. read more

Tellers is one of our go-to's. If we can't decide on where to eat- we're always happy coming back to Teller's. Their food is priced reasonably and they have good drink specials. The bartenders are awesome and really put their talent into making craft cocktails. (Get the chicken strips!) read more

Tellers look fancy when you're walking by, but the prices are reasonable and the atmosphere intimate. I like to go here for a late-night bite to eat downtown. I had the black-bean quesadilla for dinner, and at $7, it was great. The quesadilla is a little too spicy for my taste, but the portion size is generous and the quesadilla slices are stuffed. I'd recommend. I love sitting by the huge restaurant windows and watching pople walk downtown. read more

My only complaint is that I was too full for dessert. This restaurant/ bar is in a cool spot on the corner f ninth and broadway. I've walked by it a number of times when I was headed to Khaldi's and had to park on broadway The atmosphere seemed kind of cool on the walk-bys and there can be a little bit of a crowd on some nights, so I decided to check it out. The inside was mellow, even early, and intimate like a jazz club or something. Well, except for the crazy artwork. There are some pretty crazy painting for sale. There seemed to be a lot of devils or something. That may have just been a theme with the artist they are showcasing for now. There's a big bar and plenty of tables that are against the windows to look outside. I ordered the KC strip rare and a beer. The steak was huge. It was grilled perfectly rare. It was grilled (blackened) with a coat of peper, salt, and some other dry spices that were not over powering the flavor of the meat. The meat sat on top of a huge pillow of mashed potatoes. It was all covered in a blue-cheese and green onion sauce. The blue cheese sauce was good, but it probably wasn't necessary on this piece of meat. The steak could have stood alone I'm sure. The potatoes were pretty good as well. The blue cheese did add flair though. It made it different from the same KC everyone else might serve. They have quite a number of beers to choose from Also, The staff was prompt, friendly and efficient. It was a good overall experience. I'll probably be back to try them again. read more

Teller's was one of the few kind of nice restaurants open on Christmas Eve. I was interested in going because I'd heard the bread pudding was supposed to be good. The vegetarian selections were a little limited. I ordered the black bean quesadilla with a side of potato tots. It was very cold in the restaurant. It took a long time for the food to be served. When it arrived, the food was rather cold. The tortilla was too crispy rather than soft and warm. When the waiter took away the plates, he spilled sour cream on my wool coat. He tried to get it out with soda water and did a better job than I expected, but there was no offer to pay for the dry cleaning it still need. The bread pudding was very good. But not surpringly, it came a little colder than I would have expected. Not the best dining experience. read more

Great for dates or girls' nights! The atmosphere is intimate, great music is always playing, and the food is delicious! I must recommend the cajun salmon salad, baked brie, and bread pudding. The drinks are great too, staff is always friendly, and the foyer for some reason smells like fresh laundry! I love it! It is always subtly decorated, they change out the lights on the windows to correspond with the time of year - pink lights for breast cancer awareness, etc. But tasteful! Tellers used to be one of my favorite places in Columbia, but it's gotten pretty unimpressive. They have a great wine/beer/alcohol selection, so they're a great place to go for drinks. They're a step above college bar food, but not the level of cuisine at Sycamore or the Wine Cellar and Bistro. Favorites: french onion soup, fried artichoke hearts, creole salad. I don't have a favorite entree since they took my usual (grapefruit mahi) off the menu, but their sesame chicken and grilled tuna are pretty good. They're also flexible about the ingredients--like if you want to add meat to something or take meat out of something, it's usually not a problem. Service has slid in the past few years, though. The last several times I've eaten there at lunch, it's taken about 90 minutes to order, get our food, eat and pay. That shouldn't happen on a weekday when both people at the table have ordered salads and the restaurant is less than half-full. Sometimes you need to send up smoke signals to get a server's attention. I haven't been there for dinner in a while, so I can't say how the service is then. The food isn't so stellar that it's worth putting up with bad service. The long wait is worth it if you sit near the big window-- the best people watching in Columbia. read more

What a pleasant little experience on a Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere/layout is a bit odd, but our waiter was phenomenal. We ordered the french onion soup, which was too die for. It is up there with the best I have ever had. Along with that, we had an order of wings with a side of the habanero sauce, as opposed to the wings covered in the sauce.
