I got my parents an operable pergola from FunSpace as an early Father's Day present for my Dad (why wait until the summer is half over to get them something that they can enjoy once spring arrives?) and it was a huge hit! On cloudier days they let some of the light through and on those Michigan scorchers, they completely block out the light and it's actually bearable to sit outside! My parents went back and purchased a patio set from FunSpace (which they also love) and now they say they spend every afternoon outside with a book and an iced tea in their hand. They have a wonderful backyard to begin with and the operable pergola helps them enjoy it that much more. The process was so quick and easy working with a dedicated designer and sales rep. I felt like I got a great deal, and they gave the three of us a detailed lesson on how the operable pergola works. My wife and I had a sunroom built onto the back of the house last year. They were great during the sales, but once it was built, the response was terrible. We have called 4 times with no call backs. When we have talked to someone they said someone would be out soon, weeks later no visit. After much prodding, they did finally come out to the house. They fixed the door and found a leak in the roof, which was repaired. It should have been resolved much sooner with less hassles, but ultimately they did take care of the problem. read more

My wife and I were looking to put an addition on our house and saw people doing really cool things with sunrooms in an outdoor living magazine. We're not too far from FunSpace's showroom, so we dropped by one afternoon looking to check out some ideas for our addition. We were greeted by the manager Wally, who was super friendly and showed us all of our options. As with any home addition, a sunroom is a pretty significant project, so we wanted to make sure we were getting the best quality for our money and a full warranty for any mishaps or damages that might come up down the line. FunSpace sent out our dedicated designer / installer who made sure we could visualize our sunroom and that the project was up to code. Fast forward a month a half and I'm typing this review from our brand new sunroom! Now that we've filled it with furniture and decorations, it's our favorite room in the house. We didn't do a TON of shopping around, but I'm confident we got a fair price and all the warranties gave us peace of mind that if anything goes wrong, we're covered. Like I said, it's an investment, but the final result is totally worth it. Glad we went to FunSpace! read more

They do not stand behind their product! I had a sunroom installed a few years ago and the door handles have consistently broken. This is a known problem for them. They now have an "improved door handle". It will cost me another $70 for each handle and THERE IS NO WARRANTY!!!! If these break I can always just buy another one from them they told me. Unfortunately these doors are designed so that ONLY their handles will work. I had a locksmith out to try to get out of this cycle of replacing these handles. Temo said they can replace the whole door, for $1500 each, and any handle would work then. Once they have you you cannot escape this money draining cycle. Same story with the skylights. I would not them even a one star rating if I could. read more

I feel obligated to warn other potential customers due to the non-responsive nature of Funspace direct after our project was "completed." We signed our contract in early spring for our new stamped concrete patio and operable pergola with Funspace Direct. Our project was completed November 28 and we were assured that the concrete would not crack. Our patio cracked right away and we had to wait until spring to have it replaced. That is understandable as things like that happen. We were assured that the cement company knew how to move hot tubs and there should be no issues. They moved the hot tub with a fork lift and moved it causing damage that later had to be repaired costing us an additional $1500. Funspace was supposed to do the retaining wall and assured us that any yard damage or driveway damage would be repaired when the project was done. We ended up having a torn up yard and had to hire another company to do the retaining wall and add drainage away from the slab as we were told "it probably cracked because water got under it." We had to pay an additional $550 for our driveway to be repaired as well. When they replaced the cement we even added an additional amount and a large fire pit. The fire pit cracked in two places right away and we were told "it's going to happen." The bricks that are used in the fire pit have all separated from the cement and will need repair. My husband is so fed up with Funspace that he wants to do the repair himself. I have never written a public complaint but I have tried contacting them and have been told several times that the manager would contact me right away and I never heard a word. If these issues would have even been acknowledged and maybe a refund or partial payment for damage repairs I would have understood and moved on. I hope that my review saves someone the heartache that we went through on a very expensive project that we are still not happy with. read more

I own a spa purchased from this business. I had a less than OK experience. The single issue I have from the sales person and now 3 times from service and parts is lack of response and forgetfulness on their part. When the service Tech Blake finally engaged and did the work, it was great. But that was after 10 calls and 3 escalations (2 escalations to the manager/owner who was not in at that time, went unanswered as well). If you want the product (marquis spa or cal spa) either drive further and deal with another dealer or you are stuck sucking it up. They are the only Marquis and Cal spa dealer in all of SE michigan. Perhaps that's why they don't have the sense of urgency. read more

Don't go to Funspace direct to purchase a spa unless you are over the age of forty. I went there to look at their spas and was quickly dismissed as a customer. The salesman started his sales pitch, but after about a minute said he was apprehensive to continue because I wasn't their typical customer. I had cash to buy a spa but because I was a little younger (age 29) than their typical customer, he automatically assumed I was from another retailer trying to listen to his sales pitch. I informed him I wasn't, and that I work for the Army. I had just gotten back from overseas and looking to spend some money. He still didn't believe and when another customer entered the showroom, he quickly passed me off to another salesman. This salesman provided no information what so ever. When I inquired about one particular spa his response was "That's a brand new model and I don't know anything about it" They clearly did not want to sell me a spa because I did not fit the mold of their typical customer. I have never been treated with such disdain. read more

We hired Fun Space Direct to do sunroom addition on our porch. They gave us a quote ($16, 000), then we paid $4,000 down and signed the contract. We were so excited by the pictures we saw on their catalogue. Even though the contract does not have any project timing period listed on the paper we trusted them when they told us they will deliver the project in few days after permits was done. We approved the first drawing without any major changes yet they did not complete the planning and submit the drawing to the city. After several calls and emails, they submitted the drawing to the city and the city delivered the permit in few days. We waited and waited, they kept giving us more promises and lame excuses. We were losing the construction season and winter was right in the corner, so we decided to ask for our money back. They gave us our money back after deducting $830 for administration fee. At this point all I they can show for that much amount of money was a chalk marks on the wall they did when they measured our porch. They told us they can even charge us a cancellation fee. Which if you look at their terms and conditions buyer will pay 15% of the total cost of the project and related expenses at late cancellation even though Fun Space Direct are at fault. There is no word in the agreement that bind them to refund buyers money if they can't deliver in a definite time period. Basically, the delivery time could be forever and buyers agree to be penalized for cancellation for any time, unless Fun Space decide to let them go. Unfortunately, I can't speak about the quality of their product since the only job Fun Space Direct did on my porch I can see is an expensive chalk marks that costed me $830. read more

It's leaking, the door handle broke off and Carla said once the caulk goes, the water comes in.. I said well come and fix it (has a warranty), she said they no longer honor any such warranty..As far as the door handle she said to call the door handle company that makes it!!! I will never go here again...trust me!! go anywhere else...It is a shotty product...Straight up FOX 2 hall of shame type of people/company.......Once the caulk goes the water comes in????smh read more

I've hired many different contractors in my life but never have I hired a contractor that was as nice and easy to work with as the team from Funspace Direct. I mean everyone that we came in contact with was extremely easy, polite and listened to what we wanted to accomplish. It all started at a "Home Improvement Show" we attended specifically looking for a contractor to erect a sunroom on the back of our home. We collected about 6-8 brochures from various contractors that we met at this show and reviewed them before setting up meetings for 3 that we thought could erect a sunroom that we could be happy with for the next 30 years or longer. We were not pleased with the first 2 as they had a "post and beam" type construction and we were looking for something with a foundation. Only one of the two that we met with first had any samples of their product, so it made it a little difficult to see what you were getting for your money, that contractor gave us a price while he was here. Whereas the first contractor didn't have any samples and said we could either visit his showroom and at the same time receive his price or he would setup another time to go over the estimate and view the samples at that time. I don't think he was very well prepared to sell his product in my opinion. When we met with the FunSpace sales person (Ryan), it was "game over", Ryan came in like a real professional and had all the answers to our questions. All he needed from us to start was how big do we want and where do we want it, he surveyed the outside, took some measurements and came back in and went to work in figuring out a price. While doing so, he asked a few more questions and made a few very helpful suggestions. While he was doing all this, he was showing us the product and explained each phase of the project so we had a complete understanding as to how it would be assembled and what each part was made of. He had samples of everything that would be used from start to finish. When he was done, he presented us with an estimate. Needless to say, when he left, I don't think he had turned the corner when we decided that FunSpace would be the one to build our sunroom. It took us a couple of weeks before we met with Ryan again only because we had a family medical issue to deal with but when we did, we signed a contract and gave him a deposit to start the process. Of coarse, due to the time of year, we had to wait for the frost laws to be lifted before anything could be started. That gave us time to present the project to the HOA for their approval so a permit could be applied for. We had a small problem with getting approval by the HOA only because the President/Developer likes to have the upper hand and kept coming back with added things (Cert. of Ins., then wanting to make sure it was for a large amount of money and then wanting to make sure the Association was named on the policy, I viewed this as he wanted to dictate policy by controlling what can and cannot be done within the Association) Jeff Anderman stepped up to the plate and sent this guy everything plus more than what was needed so it took every excuse/reason away from him and he had no recourse but to approve the drawings that were submitted so a permit could be applied for through the city. While all of this was going on, their Project Manager (Race Hemby) visited the site and go over the specs and make a few suggestions that were very helpful as well. He assured us that if any problems came up during the construction process, he would see to it that it would be addressed to our satisfaction, We felt very confident with his 35 years working for Temo that we were in good hands. We were updated every few days as to what was going on (the day the permit was applied for, when they received the permit from the city, when they would start digging the foundation and so on) never was there a time that we didn't know what and when the next move was going to be. The concrete/brick crew was great, a small issue came up with a city inspector and them but was quickly resolved when I got involved (I felt the inspector was arrogant and not listening to the workers explanation as to why it was done the way it was) not a big deal, the inspector approved that part of the job so we could continue to move forward. The first day of the sunroom assembly, I met Mark, Jimmy and Chris. They arrived late but went right to work, never seen anything go as smoothly as this team, it was like walking, the right foot new how long a stride it needed to make so the left foot could follow, Jimmy and Chris made up for the late start, I don't know what happened to Mark, I only seen him a couple of times but he was always available if Jimmy needed him. Rain, snow and wind, these guys were here every day and never complained just did their job like it was no big deal.
