There was approximately 250 guests in attendance with several areas to mingle, never feeling as though you were in someone's way. I was impressed with the way in which the entire evening flowed, never at a loss for entertainment or interaction. I was able to meet several people from the Kidney community. Getting to the location was was as was parking. Thankfully not having to walk far in high heels! Great job to all those behind the scenes. A great location for any event.

Since I am a committed Reform Jew, it was important to be a member of a congregation affiliated with URJ (Union of Reform Judaism). Temple Solel not only was a member, it also was financially secure. The services are really beautiful and ably led by our Lay Leader. He makes everything accessible to everyone, reading the translations after reading a Hebrew prayer or passage. It is comfortable for everyone. I feel like we are a big family. I am so happy here.

The women's bathrooms were spectacularly clean with nice decor inside. I felt like I was at someone's house instead of a church. The fellowship hall, which I presume can be used as a gym as well, was fairly big and open. Great convinent location. There are lots of parking spaces to choose from as well.

"The first Sardis church meeting house was built of logs near this site in 1796. In the 1800's, wood frame sanctuaries and Sardis Academy were built on the property. A red brick church with a bell tower was built on the west side of Sardis Road in 1907 and served congregations until 1960 when it was replaced by the present sanctuary. Sardis Road and many features in the community have taken their names from Sardis Church and cemetery. The name Sardis comes from the New Testament church in Lycia in Asia Minor. It is one of the seven churches addressed in the Book of Revelation. 'To the angel of the church in Sardis... listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.' Revelation 3:1,22" A second marker reads, "An important factor in the location of the earliest Sardis Church was a nearby spring with an abundant flow of cold, clear water. Located about 600 feet northeast, the spring was acquired from John Kirkpatrick on April 2, 1799. Water from the spring was used for drinking and baptisms. It flowed freely until September 2, 1989 when Hurricane Hugo toppled trees and disturbed its source. 'I have baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.' Mark 1:8" The third marker reads, "The adjoining 'old' cemetery traces its roots to the founding of Sardis Church in 1790. The first persons known to be buried here was James Boyce (Boyes) on August 29, 1803. The 'new' cemetery on the west side of Sardis Road was started in the later 1800's and continues to serve families of the congregation. 'I am ascending to my father and your father, to my God and your God.' John 20:17" The cemetery itself (maybe it should be a separate business?) is beautiful and very well kept. We were in the hunt for a Catholic Church for Saturday anticipation Mass ... and fell upon St…read more Ann's on Park Road. Beautiful church and wonderful service, especially with a superb song and music section to complement the liturgy. Like the other Catholic churches we've been to in the Charlotte area, this one seemed to have an overly rigid leaning toward conservative values ... traditional yes, but strongly conservative. Maybe it's just because we are in the South, but it seemed a bit over the top. Sometimes at our church in the Chicago area we have trouble getting two altar boys/girls to serve Mass ... here they had five, each wore white gloves, and dressed in the old-fashioned floor-length black cassock and white square-neck surplice. Many women in the congregation wore mantillas, and many of the prayers and much of the music was in Latin. Most received Communion on their knees and on their tongue. It was not off-putting, but felt very different from what we were used to ... sort of like being in a time warp. All in all, nice church, nice liturgy, exceedingly retro.

His honest and heartfelt belief, service and his educational homilies sincerely reflect Jesus. He takes the time know everyone AND if you see the way the children love him and the way he welcomes them and is so proud of their active participation, you will know this is a place that truly represents Our Lord.
