My first tattoo was something I been planning for years before I even decided on a placement. While it seemed simple, it was something that meant great significance to me. I booked a consultation appointment with Temple tattoo and Austin said if I didn't want to make any changes to what I showed him, he could tattoo me right away. I asked for easy adjustments from what I showed him like length and size and he was able to change and create a stencil from it. It being my first tattoo, of course I was nervous. I asked all sorts of questions and Austin was patient and answered all of them. I'm a talker and I appreciate someone who banters with me, especially to keep my mind off of pain. Not only did Austin assure me that none of my questions were stupid (because I felt like they were), he asked me questions and kept the conversation going to pass the time. The whole process took about 15 minutes and suddenly, my drawing became the tattoo I've always wanted. I was so happy with the customer service and ease of the whole process that I came back to find Austin to do my next tattoo. It was the same easy process. I also had my sights set on a bigger piece as my third, with a very specific style that I would like an artist input on. They were very kind to point me in the direction of an artist who specialized in the style I was looking for, and when that artist and I couldn't really agree on my vision, he was very kind to assure me that it was my piece and body I was putting the tattoo on, so it's important to find the right artist, unfortunately, he wasn't it this time. I really appreciated the honesty and integrity of being an artist first, and a businessman second. The customer service is excellent and efficient. Every artist's quote is different, so I can't really give you a price range, and they do cash only. There is an ATM machine upstairs that you can use once you get your piece done. The street parking situation is not it around here. You either have to get lucky or plan to walk a couple of blocks. I saw someone's car get broken into as I was walking in this area so please take extra care to not out anything valuable out in the open since you'll be gone from your car for a while.

This review is for the artist, not the shop (the shop is just where she was working for our last session, but this artist moves around shops a lot). This is for Laura Taylor (LAET). Her work is absolutely gorgeous and super unique - I was so excited when I started working with her! However, the communication/professionalism/accountability is severely lacking. I've made peace with my situation with her, but hope that future folks have an idea of what they are getting into, since this was quite disappointing and now requires extra work on my side to look for a high quality artist willing to finish someone else's piece. I came to Laura in 2018, to create a peacock feather and peony flowers and petals piece in her style, above a tattoo I already have of a garter and a feather in it. Most of the piece was her work, but I did ask her to, at the end when we we are done with her work, to possibly modify the existing feather to look like the ones that she has created. She agreed to this back in 2018 when she was at Industrial, and we started the work. We have had 3 sessions on this piece, one at industrial, one at sri yantra, and one here at Temple earlier in March '23 (took a long break in between bc I was pregnant and then pandemic kicked off). I did tap on this last session with her about halfway through bc of the location of the tattoo and my body just not cooperating that day - my skin was super jumpy and I couldn't do it anymore (this was the first time I have ever tapped and felt a bit embarassed about it but Laura was pretty good about not judging, I thought). I did still pay for the full 3hr session after tapping about halfway through. Some of the coloring during this session was outside of the lines which I don't think I can ever fix now, but I am not even upset at the artist about this - I know my body was moving a ton bc of my pain tolerance that day and I'm sure it was hard for her to work on it, hence big reason for tapping. After this session I scheduled my next one for Sept - was supposed to be next week. A week or two ago I got an email from her new assistant that Laura has decided not to continue with me as a client "because this is a large coverup and she doesn't think she is the right person to do it". All of the work she has done so far has been on blank canvas, and IF she ever did adjustment on the existing feather it would have been at most 1/5 of the tattoo. However, at the last 2 sessions we didn't even discuss the cover part, and I would have been absolutely fine to not do it if it was something she was not comfortable to do. We have so far been working on the piece on blank skin that was entirely Laura's creation. Additionally, during our initial consultation when I brought up my interest in covering up that one feather, Laura said this is something she can easily do, she was interested in doing it, and we would talk about it after the rest of the piece is done. When I received the email about her not wanting to continue, I was super confused and thought at first that maybe her assistant had confused me with someone else that was actually doing a large coverup, so I sent a pic of my piece in progress, the one that she is coloring and is entirely not a coverup with absolutely nothing underneath. I received a response in the form of her sending my deposit back so I guess it was meant for me. So, she did send my deposit back, which I appreciate (I read some of her reviews from the past where people were not so lucky). However, this is still a pretty shitty situation since I now have to find someone willing to color in another artist's work. I just wish I had known she was not interested in doing my piece BEFORE the 3 3-4hr sessions we have already had -- seems odd to make that decision so late in the game. Or if she was upset about me tapping or anything else that may have happened - I wish I had known about it when it happened or an honest reason for cancelling (my last session was in march, and the sept appt was set right after, but cancelled right before it happened, with only communication happening between then and now being with her assistant about logistical stuff of scheduling). I have multiple tattoos, with a couple of artists that have done multiple pieces for me and have never had any issues like this with any other artists. pic of my piece below, very clear to see that it is not covering up anything. Any way, I don't have a choice in this and obviously done with this situation, but hope this doesn't happen to folks in the future. Maybe don't plan to work with this artist if you have any other tattoos in the vicinity or a potential for a coverup. Her work is absolutely beautiful though, and I do wish i could have finished with her.

I love this tattoo shop and I highly recommend it! --OK OK, I am biased, I have known the owner of the shop for over 30 years. That being said, I've also been tattooed by some of the great tattooers of the world, and I've got special, picky needs. My tattoos were done by Freddy Corbin and I am extremely happy with them. The results are great, the process was an amazing experience as always because Freddy is a genuinely fun guy to hang around with, and the prices were reasonable. As an experienced working tattoo artist for over three decades, Freddy draws an incredible group of artists to work with him. So all the artists at Temple tattoo represent his skill and spirit. As far as my special picky needs, I am in a wheelchair most of the time. Temple Tattoo shop made me feel right at home. It's completely accessible including the bathroom! Most importantly, however, nobody makes you feel any less valued because you are differently-abled. And that is just how Freddy Corbin rolls--every pun intended--getting tattooed can be scary. If you are different, going out of the house can be scary ... but at temple you will be taken care of, you'll have fun, and you'll leave with a great tattoo you'll be proud to wear.

I walked in after work today and asked to put down a deposit for a tattoo, the guy inside asked me about what I wanted and suggested an artist, Chris (or perk) and I got sat down for a consult within 10 minutes. Got my tattoo within 30 and walked out with an awesome piece of art an hour later. Really recommend it. They're friendly and helpful.

This rating is for Seth Wood who works at Temple Tattoo but did my tattoo in Los Angeles at Memoir Tattoo. Seth had a cancellation while down in LA as was able to squeeze me in. He did an outstanding job and helped convince me to finish my leg journey. We did this Screaming Meth Owl Pilot piece on my calf. Seth was clean and very efficient and he uses some of the best equipment around. We had some great talks so his "bed side manner" is cool too. Calf ink near the shin bone can be "spicy" so make sure you're committed if you're going there, but Seth has a real light hand so it wasn't too bad at all. Overall, outstanding experience.

This is my third tattoo, and this is the best tattoo shop I have been to thus far with the best experience overall!! The tattoo artists here are amazing. They are kind, patient, helpful, respectful, walk you through the process, ask you if you like the design they create based on what you want, and then begin the process. The tools they use are all wrapped, sterile, and taken out of packaging just for you. The shop is clean, and the artists are welcoming and SO NICE. Of course they are also super talented and have been in the industry for years. I was lucky enough to get Dustin, as my tattoo artist. He is super kind, sweet, and really takes care of you. I will definitely be back, and this time, I won't wait over six years in between. Thank you Dustin (and Austin) for being so kind and helpful from when I called to see if you had any appointments to when I left the shop. I haven't had that experience before with other tattoo shops, and it's rare to see the kind of customer service that was provided to me at this shop. I definitely recommend coming here if you want people who will take care of you, do a great job, are super talented, and work in a super clean environment!

I was visiting Oakland from the East Coast and on a whim I felt like getting a tattoo. So I called around to different shops in order to see if anyone had time for a walk-in and Temple said they did. I did live in Oakland for 10 years and though I never got tattooed there, Temple's reputation definitely preceded itself. Anyway, I arrived at 3:00 p.m. and Heath took me, even though he had a 5 o'clock appointment. I'm not very particular with my tats, I mainly want the artist to express him/herself on my skin. I was looking through the flash but I was trying to fill a tight spot so that really wasn't going to work. So Heath drew something up in about 20 mins and we were good to go. And we finished right around 5 p.m. So I came in at 3 and was out by 5:15. Now look at the tat. Just Incredible. Go there.

Jason McAfee was referred to me by a friend. He did an EXCELLENT job covering up an exisiting tattoo with a beautiful one on my back. It's everything I wanted and more...colorful & vibrant, detailed and you can't even see the old tattoo he covered up. I finally booked another appointment with Jason and going back tomorrow to add on to another existing tattoo. Can't wait! THE BEST experience at Temple today with Austin. I came in unsure of how I wanted the piece to turn out, and without an artist in mind. A few friendly folks at the front and the one I got lucky enough to have do this Austin-got started. HE sketched it for me perfectly to my. After I made it thru my session I was in complete shock at how PERFECT it turned out. Completely exceeded all of my expectations and more. Above and beyond friendly place I will def return to next time I want some ink done. Thank You Austin!!!! I can't say enough how much Inlove this piece and am forever grateful I chose temple!!!!

Well I needed to cover something up. After walking into several shops with no luck on finding someone who would take on the challenge I finally did some online research. I found Temple tattoo on yelp they had some great reviews one of the guys there accepted the challenge and a short time after walking in I had what I had been looking for. My usual tattoo parlor is Staircase in Santa Cruz, California - and has been, for many years. However, living in the east bay means making a trek through the 17 to get there, which is not always convenient, especially considering how often I have to feed this tattoo addiction. My friend and I found Temple through the Internet, and have heard about it through the grapevine. We took a chance and drove up to Oakland today and were able to walk in and get an appointment in 20 minutes. The guy at the front was warm and courteous, which is not always easy to find in a tattoo parlor and can make a world of difference for customers. Jeff ended up tattooing us and was really accommodating and professional - I felt very much at ease with him. We already had sketches of what we wanted and two hours later, it was done with little hassle and amazing results. Jeff gave us good input on what would look best over the long term but stayed very true to the original drawings. There was a minor machinery hiccup towards the end of my tattoo but it was solved quickly. Everyone was very open and communicative with pricing and the tattoo layout. The shop itself is very cool with a good vibe; the music (death metal) was appreciated by my cohort, and I dug that it was coming out of a good sound system. Needless to say, I think I have found my new tattoo shop. As a sidenote: they accept credit/debit cards if it's over $200. read more

Had the best experience at Temple. Dropped in and was greeted by Dustin, although everyone else I encountered there was super helpful as well. I had called in just before so they had been expecting me, which was a huge relief after I had just tried the same at another shop only to drop in and be ignored for ten minutes. They guided me through placement of the script on my body, letting me try out a few different areas. Dustin was really informative and paid particular attention to keeping the integrity of my dad's script. Start to finish the process was quick and I couldn't have been more happy with the experience. The spiritual ambiance in the shop really added to everything. I will definitely recommend! read more

5 stars on Yelp is almost impossible, but this place really deserves it! I've been contemplating getting a tattoo for years and last week decided to finally do it. I called over and they had some time for my friend and I to get our first tattoos. I'd done quite a bit of research and knew the reputation that Temple earned, plus it's in my hood so it was an easy decision. I happened to get Chum (he's only in once a week) and am so pleased! There were 3 people in the shop and they were all so nice. Chum made it so easy on my friend and I (also her first- she chose tourist ink of the GGB since she's from the UK). Reasonable rates for the quality of the work, and now that I have something small and uncomplicated, I'm ready for something big and designy. Thanks Chummy- I'll be back! read more

I went in for a walk in tattoo and Heath was great! It's a small tattoo and he did great with the fine line work. Overall you can just tell he's really knowledgeable and professional. I got this sweet jellyfish a couple months ago from Heath! It might be my current favorite tattoo. I told him I wanted a jellyfish in color to get some headway on an eventual jelly sleeve and just let him work his magic. He is definitely really focused while tattooing. 10/10 would get another tat from him. read more

I got my first tattoo here at the beginning of the month and had a great experience. Place is clean and comfortable, felt totally safe and relaxed. So, the only problem was, and it wasn't really the dude's fault, but he mispelled two ofthe words. It's totally fixable, and now that it's healed he's gunna fix it for me for free. The only reason I mention it at all, is to let you know if it's your first tat: MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING. They will put you at ease to where you dont question them at all, which is great, but make sure you're set. Ok, that said... was a great experience getting my first tattoo and will be back for more. read more

I got my first tattoo here at Temple. I was terrified because I have no previous experience whatsoever, but after I saw Jason's design I told myself it would be all right. I have to be honest I did not enjoy the pain, but the tattoo is so tasteful that I fell in love with it immediately. Jason did a terrific job on my tattoo and the art work is extremely delicate. I went back 2 weeks later for some refill on the fading colors and he did it for FREE. I was so pleased with the tattoo and my friends love it as well. I couldn't stop getting compliment. I will definitely go to Jason again if I want to get another tattoo. The color is very vivid and there is no sign of fading. It's just simply fantastic. ------------------------------------------ I came back to Temple a year later to get my 2nd tattoo, and again, i wasn't let down. Happy with the tattoos i got from Jason. It's been like 4 years since i got my first tattoo, the colors stayed true and vivid as people keep asking me whether i just got the tattoo. So, what can i say, Temple is excellent with what they do. read more

I got my first tattoo at age 37 here, after doing a fair bit of research. I wanted a small tattoo where intricacy was more important than flash, and landed on Dustin for his superb linework I found on the site. He made it easy when I arrived, explaining what would be happening, and gave detailed instructions on what to do when it was done. My tattoo looks lovely and I'd absolutely recommend Temple to anyone looking for a clean, professional experience. read more

I've been to Temple for seven of my tattoos, and always had an excellent experience. I recommend this shop any time someone asks me where I get tattooed in the bay area. I've worked with both Jason and Derrick, with Jason doing some of my favorite pieces including a big, graphic blackwork piece on my back. I also brought my mom to Temple for her first tattoo (at age 60!) and Derrick did a fast, beautiful job, despite her not-quite-crying the whole time. These dudes are solid. Quality work, nice, trustworthy folks! read more

Maybe it would help my review if I had made it into the shop to get some work done, but my experience didnt even make it there.... When I spoke to the receptionist (read: never actually tattooed someone, just a tattoo groupie) she was condescending beyond all hell. I asked for 2 small lightsaber tattoos on the outsides of my index fingers, and she proceeds to tell me: "we'll do a lightsaber for you, but not on your fingers, that just wont work" Is that right? Hmmm....why is it that Ive seen a ton of people with finger tattoos? Were the ones I saw fake? I guess the tattoo artists over there dont care if their crap receptionist loses them appointments. read more

Freddy at Temple Tattoo is not only an incredibly nice guy but also an outstanding tattoo artist. I have had an unsightly tattoo of my ex-husbands name on my ring finger for years. I consulted with several other tattoo shops about a cover-up after having 6 unsuccessful laser sessions. I was told by 3 tattoo artists at other shops that there was nothing they could do but put a solid black line over said name. I went to Temple Tattoo and talked to Freddy on a friends recommendation and I'm so glad I did! Within minutes Freddy had sketched out a rose design and began to work. The end result is a gorgeous red rose that you can't even tell is covering up a hideous name tattoo. I will definitely be returning to Freddy at Temple Tattoo for future tattoos and recommend this shop and specifically Freddy for anyone wanting a tattoo of any size. I couldn't be happier. read more

What can I say....I LOVE Derrick! He did an awesome job on my dia de los muertos design. I found a design online and he took it and made it exactly what I was hoping for. I totally recommend Derrick and anyone at Temple Tattoo. This was my first tattoo and Derrick made my "first" a very special experience. My tattoo took 3 sessions and now I'm missing my sessions with him big time!! He made this experience totally comfortable that I was able to relax the whole time. I'm making plans for my next tattoo. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! Just writting a reiview for the shop makes me crave more ink! Derrick has done some ink on me in the past as well as two other pieces on my brother. Derrick is an amzing artist and a well skilled tattoo artist. The shop is very eclectic, full of character, and filled with a wonderful staff. I love the sticker that they have on one of their flash frames on the wall that says something along the lines of "KEEP YOUR BERKELEY OUT OF MY OAKLAND" lol. Eveyone in this shop are very skilled and amazingly talented. This place needs to be a land mark... Wow... I just read in one of the reivews that Derrick is leaving.. Sucky.. read more

On the recommendation of several friends I went to Temple Tattoo to get my first two tats. Jason was the artist and I had both in less than 30 painless minutes. And one of them was on my neck! Many many compliments especially on the Chinese characters and the seeming brushstrokes. Awesome work. I'll def be back. read more

Heath did text (nice original scrollwork and some Times text) on my BFF and I. He was really chill and did an awesome job. Our friend was getting tattooed by Jason ~ who also did a superb job ~ and Heath was able to fit both of us in spur of the moment. It was nice that he was straight up about the fact that it was going to hurt a bit because of where it was on my body. They both worked quickly and did top notch work. Also, they take credit cards, which is def a plus. I highly recommend. read more

I came to Temple Tattoo with my brother to get L.O.A. tattooed on our forearm in all black ink about the height of a quarter (25 cents) and a half. The location is super clean, large tattoo shop, wooden bench for customers to wait and lots of art on the walls and books to look at. The staff is extremely friendly and work to get your design exactly how you want it. The font for my tattoo was customized by taking 2 concepts of 2 different fonts and meshing them. The only drawback was that for such a small tattoo they charged $100 which is a lot for the small tattoo. If I was in the area and wanted another tattoo and willing to pay a little extra than normal I'd definitely come back to Temple Tattoo. read more

I had such a nice experience at Temple Tattoo. My friend and I were looking to do walk-ins somewhere in the East Bay for small pieces. We both have a fair amount of work already done and had done our research and had a few places in mind to check out. Luckily, Temple was able to squeeze us in for about an hour or so, and Dustin gave us each our tattoos. He's a fantastic artist and a really lovely, pleasant person. I'll definitely go back to Temple again in the future, especially for larger work as they do a fantastic job and have great artists working the shop. read more

I have to share a story: I was in there, trying to be as Zen as possible, and the guys were all SUPER excited about the new floor cleaner that could help them get the shop spotless. :) They were also excitedly sharing new designs, styles, and techniques that they are continuously learning. Point is, not only are they artists, they are also cleanliness geeks, which makes me feel very confident in them as a business. And, I LOVE my tattoo. read more

Clean shop, great artists. My review is based on Derrick's craftsmanship, I don't know how the other artists are there, but I'm sure they are just as good. First of all, this place is very clean and well kept. This is one of the most important things one can look for in a shop. Very professional work spaces. Never seen anything that would alarm me cleanliness wise. Everything is sterile and well kept. Derrick is an amazing tattoo artist. He has done 3 pieces for me, including a half sleeve that is my favorite out of my 7 tattoos. He made me feel comfortable and has a very laid back attitude. Not too chatty or cocky, which I've gotten from others in the field. He did a great job on everything I've had done and his work is nothing less than top notch quality--the color, lines and technique are all AMAZING. I know I'm not the only one who thinks so, he has a bunch of great reviews on here. I also really appreciated that Derrick knew his strengths and weaknesses. When I was interested in a tattoo on my neck, he had no problem telling me that was something he wasn't used to doing. THAT is a good tattoo artist--he isn't looking to take your money and run because his good reputation rides on his work. Price is standard for good work, maybe even a bit under, in my experience. If you're looking for a $50 tattoo, go ask your brother's friend who does work out of his garage. You get what you pay for in this industry. A friend of mine got tattooed by him as well and it was through her that I decided on getting my work done by Derrick. He isn't a local anymore, but I left my name and number and when he comes back to the bay, he calls me. It's worth the wait. read more

I think I have referred about 10 people to this shop. They are clean, have high standards and are incredibly talented. DUSTIN WENGREEN at Temple Tattoo is a superior artist. I knew he was going to be good, but after two hours in his chair, I left with my expectations crushed. My tattoo required many straight lines and perfect circles and Dustin nailed it. I am still blown away by his focus and attention to detail. The atmosphere at Temple Tattoo is great, and its the people that make it this way. Don't wait, go to Temple Tattoo if you're looking to get inked in Oakland. I should add: their sister shop, Tattoo 13, is equally amazing. The receptionist, Esther, is a sweetheart and she made the original recommendation for me to schedule with Dustin Wengreen. I had a great experience at this place. Total spur of the moment tattoo and my first one at that. Guys name started with a K( Kenny or Keith) I'm really bad with names. He made me feel really comfortable and the tat came out great. Welcoming staff and for a walk in I didn't have to wait that long. Kinda pricey but you pay for quality at this place. Will def. I never thought I would ever get a tattoo but I did! I had good experience. I had so many ideas going in and it turns out less is more. My tattoo artist gave me great advice and I am glad I took it. Also, he was very patient with me and always kept me positive.Pricing was more than I thought but so worth it. I think I will totally be back for more! read more

As a first-timer, I walked from Temple with a fantastic tattoo. I'm very pleased with Jamie's work; timely and well-stylized. The colors are vivid, lines are strong and straight, and detail is thorough. Unfortunately, she could work on her bedside manner. Regardless, the staff is laid-back and friendly. The overall atmosphere is relaxed; otherwise, I'd never have sat down. Believe me. Now I have to figure out how to show my parents. I'm thinking during our Christmas celebration.. read more

My guy is serious about his ink - he's had work done by some of the best artists on the East Coast, and Temple is the place he picked for his own work when he moved here. So, it was a no-brainer for me to get my first tattoo here; Jason did an incredible job freehanding a grapevine the length of my spine, with two names in Farsi script drawn into it. It's clear and healed fast, and Jason was extremely patient with me despite my being a ninny. (What did I expect, getting my first damn tattoo on one of the most painful spots on the body??) Incidentally, someone noted that the studio is cash-only -- I don't think that's accurate, as I paid with a card. read more

Just a needle. It's all very civilized. I was concerned with how much it might hurt or how intimidated he might be by the experience, but the person helping us put him at ease and explained every step, including the best way to care for new piercings. For any customers under 18, an original birth certificate is required and one of the birth parents (with identification) must also be present. Definitely make an appointment as the lines can be long.

I heard very good things about this spot, so I was excited to come here. A bit background, my tragus earrings fell out about 3 days prior to this visit. I lost one, so I decided to get a new set and wanted someone out the jewelry back in for me, as it is difficult for me to get the backing for these piercings, Anyway, I stopped in, was greeted, and informed to fill out a form on my phone. After filling it out, I was taken to the glass case where the earrings were and the ones I wanted only have one left, so I picked out a different pair (they sell the earrings individually). I was told to wait for the piercer to help me. After a short wait, someone came out for me and we went to the back. I got settled on the piercing / tattoo bed and was walked through the process. My piercer was nice and since we were just putting new ones in, it was a quick process. I went back to the front to get rung up for the jewelry and service (they do charge $10 for each piercing change). The reason why I gave them a 2 is because one of my tragus swelled up very badly. Not sure why it would had swelled up like that, as I did not get pierced, so I am not sure if they did not clean the jewelry properly or practice correct hand hygiene. I had to carefully clean it, as it was so inflamed and hurt so badly for days. Overall, it would had been a 1, but the experience up to afterwards was pleasant.

I went in on 4/11, texted her on 4/12. It was raining pretty hard so I was stuck at home not doing anything crazy to justify the chipping. It's now the 16th and crickets. I spent $150 ($50 deposit, $100 day of service) for gel nails that haven't even lasted as long as regular polish. Not to mention, when I arrived there were no instructions on how to get into the building. No signage. No way to communicate with her. I almost left until she texted me 7 minutes after the scheduled appointment time. I'm pregnant and I was out waiting in the rain as I had taken a Lyft there. I want my money back! I work hard for what I have and this is definitely not worth $150.

(See my other reviews for example) it might look like a regular nail salon, but the artistry is next level luxury. You might end up having favorites but every tech is incredibly skilled and cares about the details. The salon itself is quite simple, clean and brightly lit. My first time coming in I saw Jojo, then Hannah, then Cherry, all great work. Today I saw Lee who is also the manager and watching her work I was in awe. She was doing my builder gel mani while booking appointments, managing walk ins, checking out customers and answering calls texts, I don't know how she does it all without error but I can see why she's in charge. They are quite busy, so I recommend booking an appointment and coming during slower hours (it's never empty though!) sometimes I find myself waiting after walking in on a weekday afternoon or morning even because their customers always come back. No matter what they always find a way to get me in. They are very transparent with pricing, they will tell you how much everything is, add ons shape change etc. and it is good that they do this. This is not a cheap salon, they charge fairly for their quality of work. The employees seem happy.

This place is amazing! For nautical tattoo's Heath is the dude. He's done one sailboat and one turks head for me, a traditional sailors braclet. His black/white work is clear and stays sharp. I have no idea how he pulled off the turks head, it looks better than the origonal one I had tied around my wrist. Each time I give him a general idea what I'm looking for he manages to pull out a masterpiece beyond anything I could have imagined, yeah, the dude is awesome! All the guys at Temple are chill and open to all walks of life, while getting work done you feel like part of the gang, it's all about the art. On my last visit they kept the doors open past closing until they knew I was completely satisfied, couldn't ask for more. I'm moving up to Alaska in a few months but have already started to look for excuses to fly back down and get more work done! read more

I've had 4 tattoos done here so far (small to good/large sized pieces: tiger, japanese fan, geisha and crown with writing across wrist), all by Jason McAfee and I'd definitely recommend him to anyone! His work is awesome. Very clean, creative, attentive and super fast! Plus he's super nice! Going to Temple always puts a smile on my face and I'm totally looking forward to setting up an appt with Jason before the end of the year to get a piece done on my arm. And like everyone else said, the guys and gals at this shop are crazy welcoming. I really don't like writing yelp reviews but I have to for Temple Tattoo. I got a piece today that was my daughters handprint, name, and birthday. It was done by Freddy Corbin who is AMAZING!!! it was my first tattoo and he was very accommodating and understood my nerves. He worked with me a lot on the design and we threw ideas back and fourth until we had it perfect. The shop is clean and all the guys in there are awesome to talk to. Just got my chest piece done my Derrick Snodgrass this weekend, and what can I say, the dude is a seriously talented tattoo artist. I'm gonna keep this review short and sweet. I came here around 2006 for my very first tattoo and then in 2007 for my 2nd. Met Derek and he was very helpful with drawing up some ideas and I liked them instantly. The inside of the shop is very unique and words can't really describe it, meeting Freddy was also really cool. I was extremely nervous about getting a tattoo. I've always wanted one, but incredibly nervous. This place is clean, the people who work here are friendly. I brought in a stencil of what I wanted and prayed to God it would turn out that way I wanted. Turns out prayers are heard! I heard tatooing isaddictive, so I may be back soon. read more

Excellent tattooists. The owner takes care to hire only the best. They do every style you can imagine from traditional, to Asian, to tribal, to portraits. Hard to park though and the meters cost a lot. Try a parking garage is my best advice. This place is, in my opinion, one of the best tattoo spots in the East Bay. read more

Plain and simple, these guys are awesome. They worked new artwork in with my existing stuff seamlessly, creating a tasteful mural on my arm. I had looked in many times after coming into the neighborhood for Japanese next door. Facilities are clean and staff is thoroughly professional. read more
