The folks that own it are fantastic people. I've met them a few times and can't wait to get to know them better. You ca grab a cold one, a glass of wine, concession munchies. Just has this wonderful feel to it when you walk in. I'm taking energy here. Even when I walk past it when we walk the street during the day and she's closed...I feel good. Our first visit to the Sylvia was thanks to a promotion another local business was running (803 Industries a resale/consignment shop a few doors down that I've also fallen in love with). They rented the theater for a free private movie showing for their customers (how awesome is that). After the showing I realized what we had been missing. Yes it is a small single screen theater, but there is so much to love. Right in the heart of charming historic downtown, a building with so much history, current movies and very reasonable prices, they serve beer and wine (bonus), they have concerts both local and national acts. I don't have to drive 30 mins to Rock Hill and I love to sit upstairs in the balcony. I've been back twice now, once for a concert and once to see Star Wars a second time with my daughter. Our tickets and a combo with popcorn, 2 drinks and 2 candies for just $22 what! If you haven't been its worth a visit!

Attended a wedding and the owner just wouldn't let this special event take place without her presence at every moment. She rode around the ceremony in her golf cart, even driving over the isle runner leaving tire marks before the bride even walked down the isle. The family had the venue rented until 10pm, and this "Karen" came into the venue and started removing linens from the tables at 9:20pm and moving trash cans close to the dessert table to start throwing things away. She was asked to stop, so she stood outside the door making the guest very uncomfortable until they all started leaving. DO NOT Pick this venue for your special occasion, guarantee the KAREN owner will ruin your event too. Not sure why she continue to host events on her property when she obviously doesn't want people there. BEWARE of KAREN!!!

She ruined our runner for the ceremony going over it with a golf cart and YES I have pictures! She told our DJ to shut early and was physically taking glasses out of guests hands! She went and got herself a beer and sat at my daughters wedding while trying to shut the event down hours before we were due out and admitted to this when I, the mother of the bride confronted her. Great time at our first Oyster roast at the Windy Hill Orchard & Cidery! Oysters were steamed by…read moreSaltwater Markets and they did a great job of bringing fresh hot oysters out every half hour to all of the tables. Each standing table also had an empty tray to discard shells. Ample supplies were on hand - shuckers, gloves, paper towels, hot sauces, cocktail sauce, and saltines. Beverages were available for purchase - a selection of ciders and wine, soft drinks and bottled water. Many of their regular menu options are not served in the winter, but we find that to be a good reason to go back during peak season. All service was self service - walk up to the bar or walk over to find any oyster shucking supplies you may need. Souvenir glasses were also available. The staff who checked us in on arrival were kind enough to suggest we take those after our feast to avoid having to keep track of a pint glass while focused on our oyster shucking. A couple of fire pit spots were available and there were picnic tables under a covered shelter set up in the event that inclement weather moved in. It is truly a Windy hill - it's always windy when we are here and this event was no different. Live music was on hand - a solo artist with guitar whose name I didn't catch, but he was very talented and did a great job. He played mostly cover music from under the covered shelter area. Parking does involve a walk if you're not one of the very first to arrive. That walk is down a gravel path a little ways up the hill and not a great fit for wheel chairs or those who with mobility challenges. It would not be hard to drop someone off though near the front, then go park down the street and around the corner.

Go early for the apple hand pies! Don't miss out on the cider donuts (pumpkin ones too if they have…read morethem)! Get a flight of hard cider. Love when they have live music! Definitely don't leave without a hug or 3 of Wassail!!
