Darien has so many restaurants now and I've tried a lot of them for lunch, certainly not all. But this is the only restaurant in Darien I would return to. Our roasted chicken with mashed potatoes was excellent. (luckily, because it cost $31!) and fish tacos were also very good. All we had. Loved the ambiance. Nice job, chef! read more

We live in town and have been coming here for 10+ years. It has a nice ambiance and is one of the few good mid-range dining options in town. That's what must keep it in business. The kitchen closes at 9:00, regardless of whether it's a Saturday night and/or jam-packed. We had dinner here tonight and were uncomfortably rushed through our meal despite the fact that there wasn't a seating after ours. The waiter actually showed up to our table within seconds of us having finished with a broom and dustpan in hand. We obligingly paid the check but lingered for a while at the table. After some time, a few of us wanted another glass of wine so we asked the busboy. He brought another employee to our table. When we asked him, he was very negative and - when pressed - told us he'd have to speak to the manager. We pointed out to him that the bar was sill well-populated and lively, to no avail. He never returned and we never got our drinks. When my husband got fed up and decided to go to the bar himself there was nary an employee to be found. All of this is to say that 1020 consistently feels impersonal and transactional. We continue to return because we live in town and our options are scant, but the service is very underwhelming. I hope they'll consider retraining their staff or hiring new management. In the meantime, it's a waste of a cute space. read more

Came in specifically for the oysters on a Friday evening. I did not have a reservation. To my pleasant surprise, I was seated immediately outside, which was my preference. The hostess was super friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered each of the East coast oysters paired with a glass of Sauvignon blanc. They were sold out of the west coast Kumamoto. They were all delicious. I definitely give the oysters a 5/5 stars and highly recommend. The service was the only part of my experience that was disappointing. My server was not friendly. For example, when I asked my server for recommendations and he said that I should look at the menu as it is self explanatory, and then he walked away. On the contrary, he was super friendly, informative about menu selections, and interactive with the table next to me, asked them several times whether they needed anything else, more wine, and checked in several times. It is important for service to be consistent and for everyone to feel welcome to the establishment. Also, my water glass had particles of something floating in the water. I don't think the particles were from the glassware not being properly cleaned, they probably were from dust and leaf particles from the table setting being outside. If you are looking for a delicious variety of oysters, this is a great place to come in and try some! read more

We decided to dine at 1020 after friends had recommended it. The restaurant is beautiful inside, has a Charleston type of vibe. We started with the charcuterie and cheese board, the pretzel and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp came in a small bowl, no presentation whatsoever ever the pretzel had no salt and the cheese board was ok. Two of us ordered the NY strip which looked beautiful, was beautifully cooked but was extremely tough. I ordered the mussels with linguine in a light tomato broth. The mussels were steamed and dumped on top of the linguine, not a bit of broth in the mussels. The broth itself was terrible, bland and tasted like canned soup. My fiend ordered the short ribs, which visibly looked dry, the mashed potatoes they short ribs were boxed. They had a clear sheen to them and tasted terrible. Came for lunch with a friend. Beautiful interior with stunning black and white tile floors. I love brunch so had a bacon cheddar omelet with salad and a Chardonnay. My friend got a cold asparagus soup to start and a salmon burger with a salad. Everything tasted really good. Our waiter was OK, not very attentive. I had to ask for the bread basket which usually comes to the table with the drinks. The only real negative about the place of despite the lackluster service is it is very noisy inside... wow. Ambience is of a bistro type in a large open setting with a few seats out on the street and a somewhat patio that backs up to a parking lot in the back. The bar is long and inviting. Sadly for food, I give it a 5/10 Really wasn't that impressed by food or service. Not my 1st time here as we stopped by around 1 week after opening and place was packed and service was understandably extremely slow. We got a spot at the bar. Cocktails were solid but way too slow on refills and seeing other keep asking for their order, we didn't both with chow. So jump forward to this week. We went again on a not so busy night as tables were about 50% empty. After looking at their website to get reacquainted with menu and saw first image which looked delightful (seafood tower) but certainly not what was delivered (see pictures included). As for more of than tower: 2 types of Oysters were acceptable, shrimp where medium/ small size seemed dressed with some lime butter (not impressed) , as for the clams-1st was bad so didn't bother finishing other few. Lobster bits and crab were very good and fresh. Various sauces tasty. I've had better presentation for the exact same quantity from other Local establishments. Went with the traditional bistro dish and the french fries were a bit soggy all the meat/steak was a decent size. Offered a few different sauces for the meal. Service: reading of 4/10 as they did the minimum but just seem like they really didn't want to be there. Also didn't have a standard uniform as I'd seen some waiter with an apron and another or waitresses just wearing jeans and a fleece jacket. When our food was delivered, we didn't get the typical walk by asking "How is it/anything else you may need? ". A highlight of the meal was the beverages which were 9/10. Though they didn't have the brand of liquor I typically enjoy at local establishments, their selections were suitable of quality. I truly hope they learn what good bistro type meals represents, which typically have a warm Rich buttery, warm welcoming atmosphere, which this place and food seems to lack. read more

Had dinner at ten twenty post on a Saturday evening and was able to make a reservation for 4 ppl around a week in advance. It was super lively when we arrived and nice to see a restaurant and the bar seating full for a change since COVID!! Our party of 4 split a dozen oysters to start, which were all super fresh. We did a variety of the oyster specials on the raw bar menu. We each got a cup of soup too for appetizers - either gazpacho or clam chowder. Gazpacho was very refreshing and flavorful. Clam chowder was delicious too - creamy but not overly creamy...a little heavy on potato though. For my entree, I got seared scallops which were served with roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables. Nice sear on the scallops and large size. Others got the steak frites and mussels which all looked great too. Can't wait to come back and dine here again!! read more

We dined for their out door dining. A very nice set up. The owner David was very nice. He kept me informed with my reservation. We sat started with drinks. I had the white Cosmopolitan! It was very good. They started us out with bread and butter. Then we just ordered a bunch of small plates. West coast oysters (great price). And Little neck clams. Then we had the pop corn shrimp, ahi tuna roll (that was on the specials), wedge salad, and the flatbread. We ordered one desert the chocolate cake Service was very good. Nice atmosphere. Zero stars - the food was absolutely putrid and inedible. My kids make a better roast chicken. The roast chicken tasted boiled. Everything we ordered was terrible. There were two pieces of steak on my chicken dish. WTF? Really? We ordered garlic bread for the kids - might as well have eaten coasters. Don't eat here. Fish tacos were over seasoned, pork sliders were poor sliders. Wine was ok. Caesar salad at Trader Zoe's is maybe 1000x better than this supposed "restaurant" quality salad. Zero stars. read more

Went here on a Monday. Place has a great vibe and very well furnished. We felt very comfortable. The service was ok, didn't get offered re fills on our beverages, but that's not a big deal. The fried shrimp app I would give 5/5 The mussels with garlic bread and French fries is a 3/5. The mussels weren't properly cleaned. This was a let down. The fried were good though. The food was just OK, expectedly (over)priced for the area. We found a hair in the flatbread which they comped. Service was fine enough I suppose. Why did I give it 2 stars? The host/manager who seated us was borderline rude and they had a bottle labeled "SANITIZER" at the entrance which I sprayed on my toddler's hands only to realize it was bleach. I told the waitress about it and she said "oh it is for the table not for hands". Why would you leave that out at the entrance and label it as "SANITIZER"? Ten Twenty provided a fabulous dinner for my New Year's birthday. Worried about dining at any restaurant during COVID and finding one open on New Year's Day, we searched online. Ten Twenty solved both concerns. They packed up a delicious dinner with perfectly cooked calamari, fresh fish, crab cakes and cremate brûlée. They even packed two martinis with olives. Excellent spot easily accessible in downtown Darien from I-95. I love seafood and the meal here did not disappoint. We started with the crab cocktail and half a dozen oysters with everything being fresh and delicious. The cocktail came with a mustard sauce (in addition to cocktail sauce) that was quite tasty. I ordered a Branzino special which had an excellent thick flaky piece of fish cooked to perfection. The service was so efficient, i never had to worry about my water glass not being filled as the waitress was constantly checking on us. The ambiance is chic but somewhat laid back. I've been to 1020 Post many times now and it never disappoints. Great fresh seafood always! Oysters and tuna appetizer are so good. They do offer many non-seafood options too. Staff is always attentive. Family friendly and they offer a children's menu (double bonus) but it gets busy quickly so make sure to make a reservation or get in early during main meal times. Drinks are great and so is dessert. I have never had a meal (lunch or dinner) I didn't love here! During summer months their outdoor patio is really nice for lunch or dinner. read more

I think the oyster bar is great but some of the other food is dropping in quality in my opinion. I have experienced possibly the very worst french fries on two recent occasions. They are burnt, stale, lifeless. They seem like they are roughly 4 days old....how is it possible to serve a fry is such a state?!?! Mind boggling French fries.... read more
