One of my new favorites on Washington Street! We had a nice date night here and enjoyed the Mediterranean dishes we had. The Brussels sprouts salad is so good, and the meat was cooked perfectly on the parrillada platter for two. On 2/14-02/15, we came there for drinks and to have fun. What we thought would be a fun night turned sour at the end, very quickly. We were at the bar during closing time when a man approached one of our friends and told him he was going to slap him in the face (odd behavior from a grown man), and like any other person, our friend replied with "I dare you to, it will not be a good choice for you". They continued at this for a solid 3 minutes before security got involved and became aggressive towards our group more than the man who started it. When the bartender Samar saw what was going on (she witnessed the event), she tried to tell security and the owner that it was not us, but instead the other man. We were all kicked out, and one would think it would end there, but it did not. We were met with racist remarks and aggression from the security guard and the owner, who condoned it. When we were being kicked out the secuirty guard was shoving my husband, and once I saw that I clealry lost it and I was met with a sentence I never thought I'd ever hear "this is America, learn english", which is funny considering 1) I speak perfect english, 2) I have 0 accent, and 3) my spanish is actually horrendous. The owner was there when all of this was happening and did not get involved or tell his employee that it was not ok; instead, he watched and let it be. In this day and age, I find this be inappropriate and insane. We spent over $300 within 2 hours and will no longer be coming here, considering we were met with racism. We as consumers need to know where our money is going, and this establishment made it very clear where they stand. I only say this because, on our way to our car, we were approached by others who had experienced the same situation earlier that night. As a bar that relies on its consumers and is supported by minorities, this establishment should be ashamed. read more

Quality of food has definitely gone downhill since the first time I dined here. I've only gone during their happy hour times, so maybe they use their better quality food for actual dinner service. Service has always been good. But when I recently visited, they added onto the tip I left. They didn't take much but they lost my trust. If you decide to go, bring and pay with cash. read more

Came here for a girls night. Cute atmosphere and good sized menu. I liked the cocktail options and had a drink with cinnamon that was perfect for fall/winter. They didn't have the Arancini we wanted initially, but we went with the charcuterie board which was a nice spread. I had the pear arugula Gorgonzola salad, which had good flavor and was a good portion size. I had the bread pudding for dessert, but found it to be a bit dry and wasn't a fan of the caramel taste, as it tasted a bit burnt. Prices seemed reasonable and staff was friendly. It was such a nice meal! Excellent service and ambiance on a Friday night. Wonderful manager and staff. I didn't like my first glass of wine and the bartender graciously replaced it with a Pinot Noir from California that I adored. Food was delicious, we ordered the artichoke and spinach dip to start which was not really a dip but more of an actual delicious appetizer. For mains my friend got the flank steak and I got the seafood. Everything was beyond perfection! read more

We actually stopped at this restaurant after stopping at a different one in the general vicinity. We were disappointed that the other spot only had a brunch menu and although this restaurant also had a brunch menu they also made their regular menu available. I just wasn't in the mood for breakfast at 3:00-serve me some food!!! First of all I started with a red Sangria which was very good and refreshing. For my entree I had the grilled pork chop with brussel sprouts and sautéed spinach. The grilled pork chop was cooked perfectly-so tasty! Great grill marks!!! The veggies were absolutely delicious! Who likes veggies??? Well I love veggies especially these. My girlfriend had the lamb lollipops which were served over risotto. Both were absolutely tasty! So glad we ended up here, having our meal. The restaurant was very nice, they had outdoor and indoor dining options. The indoor dining option had separators which kept everyone safe. The dining area was a bit small with a nice bar area. Great spot for Happy Hour which goes all the way to 8pm...I love that. Jose the bartender is super friendly and so welcoming. Someare is also a great bartender and very pleasant and friendly. The place is clean, well set up and the menu has great variety of food, that is tasty and great prices. I love the Sunday Brunch and definitely will go back with my friends. Everything we've ordered there was exceptional from the appetizers to the entrees to the dessert to the wine even the coffee. I've been coming here for a long time and this is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Sono! The half organic chicken is a must have when you visit public wine bar! It takes 40min to make and worth every minute! It's so juicy and full of flavor. Just the right amount of spice. You've also never had kale taste so good! This is a staple!! We also had steak tartar for an app tonight. Simply put, the best we've ever had! (Try it with their home made chips) Their filet was to die for! We have never left unhappy. This wine bar is really fun! I love the atmosphere. It is very relaxed and elegant. The bartenders are very friendly. I have been here 3 or 4 times now. They have a pretty large wine selection with different wines from different countries. If you want to go out for a chill night after work or a fun weekend night experience I would recommend coming here. I'm not sure if they have food. I have never eaten here if they do. This place has the BEST happy hour deals! Came here to grab a few drinks and appetizers before getting dinner and I'm so glad we checked this place out. The place was fairly empty since my boyfriend and I came just before 6. There was only 3 couples inside when we arrived but the ambience was super high end and really elegant. We got a few rounds of wine and started off getting wings as our first appetizer (forgot to take a pic)! The order of wings came with just 5 wings which I thought was very small but they were actually SO tasty and really delicious. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the wings! We then wanted to order another appetizer however we weren't sure which ones would be good and our bartender recommended the Mussels. They were seriously SO YUMMY and with the happy hour special it was SO cheap. I can't even express how good the muscles were especially the bread that was paired with it. The food choices were quite varied, and everything on the menu sounded so tasty, it was difficult to make a choice. She decided on the Hanger Steak, i had the seafood risotto, and we shared an appetizer of the Shaved Brussel Sprouts salad. All were perfection, followed by Bread pudding that was heavenly! Came here yesterday with our friends who were visiting us.... we were quite embarrassed. The brunch was horrible - the brunch entrees are all around $20, the plate that comes out is a very big plate and they give you very little food. The owners should really rethink their strategy on plating because if they had a visit from Gordon Ramsay he would be appalled. The pancakes were disappointing - they were 2 tiny pieces with some mushy fruit decorating the plate. I am really impressed with this restaurant. I just moved to Washington St and have tried a few restaurants on the street and this is my favorite. My wife and I have been doing a Friday night out for the last month and we have been here twice. I want to give a shout out to our waiter Giovanni who is incredible. We were here weeks ago and he remembered what wine my wife and drank and that my mother drank white not red. I am really impressed by that. We always get the shaved Brussels sprouts on the risotto cake which is excellent. I had the seafood paella which was also off the charts delicious. My mom got the seafood special Branzino which she can't stop talking about. My wife had the Mahi Mahi which she loved. Had a really rough experience at Public today. Came by to enjoy the happy hour at the bar and a bite in between another event. Had been driving for awhile so asked to use the restroom first. The first floor toilet was extremely clogged, so I went to the lower level bathrooms, which smelled like bleach and mold. I always believe a bathroom tells you about a restaurant, and so I decided to leave rather than stay for happy hour. The people behind the bar were chatting when I came out, so I just left rather than having the awkward conversation about the state of the bathrooms. This was when whoever was behind the bar decided to run after me onto Washington street yelling "lady!" and scolded me for lying and that I can't just use a bathroom and then leave. I did explain to the worker what happened with the bathrooms and he backed off... but overall, not the vibes, it was embarassing to be chased out of a restaurant as if I had run out on a tab, and the bathrooms were gross on an empty early evening on a Saturday, which was strange. Was excited to finally try Public wine bar after seeing some teasers on social media. On a beautiful Friday we decided to venture in to the cute but simply designed Public Wine Bar. With the gorgeous weather I had opted to sit outside but unfortunately a leaky AC from above ruined one of the tables so we decided to take a seat inside. Being seated immediately on a Friday was nice and somewhat expected with a newer restaurant. The gentleman at the door was very sweet and accommodating. So here's what we ate: - the shaved Brussels sprout salad was amazing - reminded me of the one at Harvest with slightly less truffle, enough to keep a truffle lover like myself satisfied and delicious for my husband who isn't the biggest truffle fan. The risotto cake was beautifully crispy and the portion was perfect - the branzino was light and crispy, flavorful but the natural flavors really shined. My first time having branzino and I'd definitely have again. Would have loved to see a bigger portion, my husband who's a good size was left wanting more (a lot more) - the meatballs were savory and spicy and not like anything I've had before but the portion was just too small!! - we ended up ordering the octopus after my husband stated he wanted another meal which again, perfectly delicious but not enough to keep us full The super nice waiter compd our beer as our last dish took a bit longer to come out which was a pleasant surprise. When I give 5 Star that means the place is really goooood. I came here to try as I always want to stop for dinner. Very beautiful dining and I love the lighting and the bar. Food is top notch, I know what food is , I am chef , business owner and operator. I can easily tell from bathrooms, bar set up , table set up and the freshness of food. First visit there and a very good one. Public is a pretty chic place, nice decoration and welcoming. The magic is in the plates. I took the Ragu, following the recommendation: difficult to cook the meat better, and make it so flavorful that each pasta serve gets you a little more of this flavor. My wife had the seafood risotto: not your typical combination of some seafood and a lot of rice! Between the very fresh scallops and the generous lobster presence in the plate, she enjoyed the experience of a different yet very convincing risotto. Overall, we felt that the chef is trying hard to deliver excellent quality food and succeeds doing it. A different place in SoNo that we will visit again soon for sure. read more

The waitress appeared clueless and we had to repeat the order multiple times. The poor visit continued when the food arrived with a white curly hair. My table informed the waitress and she took the food back without saying anything; we expected the dish to be taken off of the bill however she charged us the full amount. The whole experience appeared rushed with the buss boy trying to remove our dishes without us finishing the food on them. Would definitely not recommend for friends or family. Will not return. Henry is back better than ever. You will find him out side greetings his dinner guests with a smile offering some of the best menu offerings on Washington Street in SONO. His food portions are so good that when they bring your plate out you think no way can I eat all this. Honestly not sure how this gem stays hidden despite all the good reviews. Every time I walk in here, there are far too many open seats, while places with worse food and service stay full within 10 miles. The menu is large diverse and has been delicious each time. The staff is friendly and professional. There is a strong Hispanic audience here so be OK with Spanish (as any American should be at this point!) Went on Saturday night and the place was an absolute disaster, not one single staff was wearing a mask, every time they came to my table I had to put back my mask on because they felt it was appropriate to talk on my face with no mask on. A large group came in and was sat right next to my table extremely close with no distance at all, to top it off I walked to the restroom as they were mopping the back area with what appeared to be an old disgusting mop that smelled so bad I wanted to vomit. The two course lunch prix fixe lunch menu is a great deal with your choice of beautiful appetizers including mussels in wine garlic sauce, spicy salmon tartare, shrimp wontons and several others. Main courses included omelette of the day, catch of the day, lasagna, and chicken Milanese. The atmosphere is understated with dark wood and a beautiful bar, complemented by a few intimate tables. Great upscale restaurant on my favorite block in Norwalk! Happy hour has great prices on drinks and food, and lasts from 4-8pm! $5 wine and $5-$8 apps. The lamb chops, satay, wings and meatballs are all great happy hour choices. Prix Fixe for lunch, two courses for only $17 can't be beat! And only $3 more for a dessert or glass of wine. That's a bargain on food of such high quality in such a classy atmosphere. I had the lobster bisque and Branzino (catch of the day), which was amazing! The owner Henry and his wife are very friendly, and both come from a fine dining background, which is clear when you step inside. Unlike what some people think, they are not affiliated with any other restaurants on the block.I have been impressed by all the staff here.
