We recently moved to the area from NYC and this was our first time going to this practice to get a second opinion on our dog's bloodwork. Dr. Salas was incredible: -Very considerate of our dog who had a lot of anxiety -Never felt rushed and explained the results/her opinion to us -Our previous vet felt like they were pushing multiple tests on us and we didn't experience that in any way with Dr.Salas. I'm someone that also gets nervous with vets but Dr. Salas truly was a great with our Luna and grateful to find a place we feel comfortable bringing her to. read more

I took my dog to the Tenafly Veterinary Center after I adopted her and the experience was incredible over all. They gave me an appointment that worked with Y schedule right away and they sent me all of the information I needed via email immediately after I hung up the phone. They are a paperless office so you need to send everything electronically beforehand. This turned out to be amazing because when the doctor came in she knew exactly what we were there for, my dog's pre-existing conditions and medical history, and most importantly what to look for. Dr. Salas explained everything to me very clearly and her and her team were extremely gentle and caring with my girl. I had a great experience here and recommend it 100% read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Barnea and Tenafly Vet Center. I have had 5 dogs in my life and am a physician and currently live in NYC and LA and travel to Tenafly just to see Dr. B and Dr. Salas because the care is so good. My morkie had 4 dental abscesses that had been missed by a Vet in NYC and LA and when he stopped eating and routine blood work didn't show a cause, I brought him to Tenafly for another opinion. Dr. B has always recommended routine dental cleaning under anesthesia and while it is expensive (like everything with owning pets), this is why. As soon as my dog was under anesthesia, 4 abscesses and 6 loose teeth were discovered and treated appropriately. If I had not brought him there, he could have died from this. The doctors are current with the latest veterinary medicine/techniques and also nice people! From one doctor to another, I can't say enough about the care here. xx read more

The staff at Tenafly Vet Center were excellent during a very difficult time - my wife and I were visiting her in-laws from out of state and their senior cat was in very bad shape; the vet my in-laws normally took him to had lost one of their doctors and was no longer performing euthanasias and he was really clearly suffering. The Tenafly folks agreed to evaluate him same-day and stayed after hours to make sure we had space and time to say goodbye. I can't speak highly enough of how we were treated while we were there - I'm really grateful. read more

I'm new to the area and have three pets. Two cats and one dog. One of my cats was having gastric issues and they accommodated my work schedule and the urgency needed for the appointment. The staff and Dr. B we're so good with my cat. He's very timid and he felt safe with them for sure. Today my dog started coughing (he has a pacemaker so any small thing is urgent) and they once again accommodated me and were able to schedule me a same day appointment. I received some difficult news about my dog and the staff was so kind and empathetic. Dr B was also extremely kind and informative. I Love Dr. Salas:) she is very sweet, always so friendly and happy to see my pet and me. She never rushes or feels bothered by my many questions and we have talked about many dog related topics. So the experience here has been good for the most part. I only wish that the office overall had better pricing. Maybe its because they are located in a well to do neighborhood and all the surrounding towns are also somewhat high end. I have spent quite a penny(lol) since I started taking my pet there more than 2 years ago as a puppy of 2 months. The spaying alone was over $700 not to mention vaccines, yearly physical, sick visits, and a whole host of other things for a dog that is now very large. I once told a tech that the estimate she was giving me was unfortunately a bit too high. She was nice enough to make a price adjustment by letting me know that a certain exam or vaccine was not necessary at the moment and i could do it later, so the price went down by a lot. But that got me thinking that maybe the exams that I am told about are not all necessary. I would continue to take my dog there but I want to try to find another place that is good and reasonably priced. As for the staff, some of them are very nice. But some of the front desk girls are either indifferent or don't seem genuine and I hate to say that bc they have never been outwardly rude but a person just knows. read more

I wouldn't come back here for many reasons. I came here with my new puppy to get help. At first I thought they were helpful and caring but later on I realized this clinic is all about making $$$$. At first visit Dr. ... did all the tests they probably could do including Xrays and more to find out why my 12 weeks puppy is sad/doesn't eat much. None of these were needed. All they had to do was just a fecal test first and go from there. Fecal test came back positive with giardia and she prescribed meds and vitamins and electrolytes IVs etc. We did 3-4 rounds (treatments) and tests. Unfortunately, Dr. was giving us low doses/wrong medicaton which made us to do more treatments and spent money and time. On top of that they would charge $95 for no show. I spent almost 3K at this clinic and didn't see a positive good result. Customer service is bad and rude. Their phone doesn't work business hours when I called and make changes, it would take to voice. At the end they would just blame on me and charge no show. So I went to Edgewater Animal clinic. After one visit and treatment, Giardia was gone. They were very welcoming and honest. I am very happy that I discontinue working with Tenafly clinic. I don't recommend to anyone this clinic. read more

Too many new doctors. No one communicates with each other. Every time you go there you have to retell the entire history. They don't look at their charts. All they do is charge a lot of money for things that don't exist. The front desk workers are not friendly. There is no warmth in the office. It's become too large. Not the caring office that we started with 4 plus years ago. We used to be huge supporters but I will never recommend them ever again. read more

We are forever grateful for bringing our rescue to Tenefly Veterinarian Center. We adopted our boy dog and found out months later he had Heartworm. Dr Barnea has been so informative and caring towards our boy. He always answers our questions and returns calls quickly. Dr Han and the entire staff has been wonderful as well. They are a great team. They were able to walk the thin line between saving my dog's life and not going overboard with too many crazy expensive tests. My poor dog ended up needing an emergency surgery and within that every 2-3 hours someone called me to give an update. No stars is not an option. My dog has been a patient of this clinic for several years. Yesterday he hurt himself while playing in the snow. He could not walk. It was very upsetting. I called ahead and went right in. There was no greeting for my dog. No "what happened buddy?". No "oh my god lets get him fixed up.". Quite frankly they spelled his name completely wrong...Dunkin instead of Duncan. Small issue and at the time the least of my worries. In the end it should have been an indicator. The initial tech was very helpful. The doctor was anything but. She spoke very poor English and was asking me questions that she should have known by simply glancing his file which was open right in front of her. Finally after an hour in the exam room another tech came in to get him for X-rays. He immediately called my dog by his name and even remarked about his history of back issues. He knew what the doctor didn't. Before they would start any "procedures" they made me sign an estimate telling me the bill will be $400-$700. I signed without blinking. The final bill was $1,050. Way off. I voiced my aggravation by telling them they shouldn't provide an estimate if there is any chance it will go over OR when it is going over to call my cell number. Completely criminal since I learned what I knew that my dog has back issues and most likely herniated a disk. They told me if he doesn't get better he will need and MRI and most likely back surgery. He was in a lot of pain so I started searching. I found that acupuncture and chiropractic and laser treatment are actually better options and 1/8 of cost. The Tenafly doctor didn't even mention these options. Today, SUNDAY, we went to Chelsea Animal Hospital in NYC...30 minute drive. They were over the moon to meet him and treated both of us with caring and honesty. Acupuncture, laser treatment, fluid replacement, Pepcid injections and 45 minutes of gentle treatment. $400. By the way they didn't make me sign anything before they would treat him. The first time they met us. I will never go back to Tenafly and I will be sure that all of my friends and neighbors know why. What a shame!!! read more

Dr. Han and the staff are amazing! They are so friendly and we felt like we have been going there for years and it was our first time. They made us feel so welcome when we brought our 13 year old Rottweiler. She had not been herself for a while and we thought it was her time. She was sick and when we brought her to Dr. Han it took 1 week and she felt better. She is back to how she used to be. Dr. Han knew exactly what to give her to make her feel better. My experience at Tenafly was extremely run of the mill. I only came to Tenafly because the breeder's club where I obtained my pup listed them among a list of about 10 others that offered an initial free exam to ensure the good health of my dog was as promised. The clinic itself is adorable. But, the person behind the counter who greeted us was very abrupt, and in my opinion, very cold. The tech who prepped my dog was nice and friendly with him. But, when she brought out a list of various vaccinations that he may or may not have needed, I felt like she was speaking too quickly and I didn't understand everything as well as I could have had she slowed things down a bit. I also felt like she was somewhat pushing vaccines on me that weren't needed for my dog. We are city people, and he is primarily an apartment dog. Why would he need vaccines meant for dogs that were being taken hiking and exposed to ticks and lyme disease? The doctor, Dr. Han, was very nice. However, the exam was very quick. She quickly pronounced him to be a healthy, happy puppy. When I pointed out that I thought he might have a cold because he'd been coughing, she was quick to dismiss it. But then, the next day he was lethargic. I noticed that his cough seemed worse and he wasn't his normal self. I don't know if the fact that it was a free exam impacted how comprehensive the examination was, or if she would have done things differently had I been paying for the visit. But, I thought it was something I would mention. We briefly discussed bringing a stool sample back for analysis on a future visit. But, I hadn't proclaimed it to be a certainty. Still, they tried to give me the plastic vial and charge me $40 for the analysis even though I hadn't even guaranteed a future appointment, which seemed odd to me. I made it clear that I was declining, and I didn't have to pay in the end. They did give me a nice little backpack with a peanut butter chew for my dog which was nice, but overall, I probably wouldn't return. read more

My review is not recent but the pain of the loss of my dog is still very present. Dr. Barnea did not correctly diagnose my dog and she suffered unnecessarily. She was eventually treated and euthanized by another vet who recognized the issues immediately. Maybe the outcome would have been the same but the dog endured pain that should have been avoided and our family struggled to help her. Dr. Barnea was indifferent and did not accept accountability for his role. read more

We love Tenafly Veterinary Center! When we got our rescue pup, Gryffin, he had a lot of issues. Mange, an ear infection, worms and a bacterial infection that ended up making him very very sick. We were originally taking him to a different vet but the bacterial infection ended up becoming really bad and we felt that vet wasn't doing enough to help so we switched to Tenafly. From day one they accommodated us. Giving us a same day appointment to get Gryffin in when he was super sick. They immediately started running tests and putting him on a treatment plan to get rid of the infection, that has finally subsided. They were there again when Gryffin got Giardia. Just recently, we got Gryffin neutered with them and had an umbilical hernia removed. They were very sweet to Gryffin and to me, a crazy dog mom. He has healed well from all of his ailments and his surgery and is THRIVING, because of Tenafly Vet. Dr. B and Dr. Han are amazing! This hospital was amazing, as was Dr. Barnea..I was there as a new client after an emergency situation with my dog. They fit me in without question. I was extremely upset and Dr.Barnea instantly put my mind at ease. He quickly assessed the situation and was able to offer me very clear options. When we agreed on the best plan, the team was very professional coming to me in advance with the cost of every aspect of what needed to be done, so there was not surprise when I got to the counter to leave. Dr, Barnea took over 30 minutes on the phone with me after the procedure and 30 minutes when picking up my dog to ensure I knew exactly what to expect and what I need to do. He treated me with much more respect that I have ever gotten from my vet of over 10 years. And after only 2 days, there is already such improvement. My cat was in distress on. Saturday after having been misdiagnosed by our regular Englewood vet the day before. We were planning to leave for vacation in the evening but needed the cat to be treated first - regular vet did not return the phone call (until Tuesday!) and we couldn't leave without seeing a vet. Tenafly Veterinarian allowed us to come in right away, even though it was 15 minutes before closing and we had never been there before. Dr. Han treated the cat with care and compassion, her two assistants stayed there for an extra hour after closing to help, and they were all incredibly gracious about it. It was a pricey visit but we were informed and agreed to every procedure and cost in advance, with Dr. Han explaining to us why everything was needed and what the options were. Thank you SO much Dr. Han and staff. You have an amazing and caring practice! read more

Dr. Barnea and his capable crew are knowledgeable, caring, personable professionals who made our move from another town and vet smooth and pleasant. He clearly cares about the health of my dog--the WHOLE dog--and he gave me suggestions for problems she might encounter as well as those that she is currently presenting with. Furthermore, he appears to use natural remedies. I appreciate this approach and prefer it to suggestions that involve invasive regimens. My dog bounded out of the place happy--not shaking. read more

What an amazing and enjoyable experience for my little pooch and I. Truly lives up to the hype of being the best dental cleaners in town with reasonable prices. What really made me a regular client was when they cured my Pomeranians mysterious case of patches of fur disappearing. Literally after wasting thousands of dollars on different vets and specialists, Dr. Han and Dr. Barnea helped Nala look like the little fur baby that she was ten years ago. The staff really knows their stuff and are always more than eager to help answer any questions concerning your little doggy. I've been to a lot of vets--this was the worst. My cat and me were left waiting for at least 30 minutes in a small room; which freaked out the cat. He was knocked out and had his teeth cleaned. Because they were closing early I had to take him home, and they didn't inform me exactly how much time he needed to recover in his carrier, or what his condition would be. It was all very expensive. After I told a few people, an animal lover told me that this Vet was busted for breeding German Shepherds in a crawl space. read more
