The SYS which is heavily supported by generous locals, is now showing its age after over two…read moresuccessful decades of heavy use. There are many positives. Members are generally very satisfied with the many services and programs. The fitness center is well equipped and supervised and is kept in excellent operating condition. There are plenty of TVs with convenient connectivity to those working out. The main gym is large and accommodating to team soccer, basketball , archery and pickleball. Pickleball nets are easily assembled and the gym weekday mornings welcome free open pickleball. The locker rooms and bathrooms are very clean. There is an on-site excellent physical therapist in the fitness area, who is my go to PT expert, Mr. Matthew Mobius. On the negative side, the building is in much need of a tune up. The SYS Administration does not have a consistent record of friendly and responsive management. The front desk may be staffed with poorly supervised youth doing mandated community service. The squash court walls are particularly beat up, in immediate need of repair. Parking is often lacking due to the strong popularity of SYS. Unfortunately the facility lacks an indoor pool. SYS is an important part of the Hamptons and there is really nothing else nearby that offers such a varied and affordable sports venue. The nearest YMCA has an excellent indoor pool and is located in East Hampton.
