Mixed thoughts about this place. The sushi is ok to pretty good but way overpriced. I recently went solo and spent $100 without cocktails and left hungry. That's just absurd. Every night I dream about their truffle scallop maki. I'm not kidding I've come here a couple times during happy hour & it's always a great time. They have a variety of appetizers, makis, and drinks for a great value. Servers are attentive to making sure you have everything you need. Date night at TenTen this past weekend was remarkable. The ambiance, service, and food were so on point. Our server, Momo, made the evening even more special with her genuine hospitality and thoughtful recommendations. The food was absolutely outstanding. We had a couple drinks, a bottle of wine, sashimi, the hamachi carpaccio, spicy tuna roll, short rib, brussels sprouts, desserts and coffee. We were there for a while! Never felt rushed and the dishes came out at the right pace. Never was our table crowded with plates nor we were constantly interrupted with "how's everything?" but whenever a glass was near needing refreshing the server was already on it. Just excellent service. Special shout out to those short ribs, my god! The homemade sauce they put on them needs to be bottled and sold in every corner. We ordered the chirashi roll, scallop roll, salmon toro sashimi, otoro nigiri, a5 wagyu nigiri and hamachi toro nigiri. All of the nigiri and the scallop roll were all fantastic. So I went to Ten Ten for happy hour and I was not disappointed in the slightest! All the staff were so nice and lively! I went to happy hour for a good time and they understood the assignment! TenTen is located on west 6th- great spot for happy hour after a long day of work! Happy Hour is 4:30-5:30- but trust me you can get enough food in that hour! The menu seems small but it is definitely enough food and a great price for good sushi. Our server was extremely attentive, came by to check on us at least 10 times but the restaurant was also quite empty. We tried the salmon crudo, spicy tuna maki and hamachi truffle poke. The salmon crudo was very small and the flavor was kind of missing for me. The spicy tuna maki roll was spicy! I enjoyed all the complex flavors in each roll, and the hand rolls were quite tasty. I recommend TenTen if you like exploring unique flavor combinations and sushi. I recommend going during happy hour and trying their amazing hand rolls (great price too). A must-get item is 100% the scallop maki roll; the truffle and yuzu flavors perfectly complement the scallop and sushi rice's sweetness. With that said, I again recommend coming here during happy hour and taking advantage of the discounted items, such as the hand rolls. Undoubtedly, it is expensive, duh, it's sushi; however, I expected a bit more finesse at this price point, especially when comparing this establishment to ones such as Uchi/Uroko. Did you know TenTen now offers a friday lunch service including some items that are not on the dinner menu? Started off with a peach blossom cocktail, which was very refreshing. The tuna tacos were very tasty and perfectly seasoned so as not to overpower, rather to enhance the fish. Next I tried shrimp tempura Maki, which was a generous portion and the eel sauce made the flavor pop. The chili, salmon skewers were my absolute favorite. Again very fresh fish with a delicious glaze that was spicy but also sweet for a good balance. Decided to try the Moscow Mule Mocktail, which was also very refreshing, and I commend this restaurant for having more nonalcoholic choices on the menu. Final dish was a Wagyu beef rice bowl, which I would definitely order again. The staff was so attentive and friendly. for HH! We decided to check out Tenten for happy hour on a Friday evening and were pleasantly surprised to find out that they offer happy hour daily Monday to Friday until 6 pm. The happy hour menu had a good variety of makis and bites to choose from, both raw and cooked. What's great is that they offer half off for beers, sakes, wines, and cocktails. I tried a mocktail this time - their blueberry jalapeno margarita was not only beautiful but also delicious. For the bites, I especially loved the spicy tuna and salmon maki, which were part of the happy hour specials. We also decided to try a few items from the regular menu, stellar items were the tuna taco, various nigiris, and the truffle sashimi. Surprisingly, street parking was easy to find. TenTen is an upscale Japanese restaurant that is perfect if you're looking for the "I don't want to eat until I'm completely full, but I want my food to be expensive and taste good" type of experience. The presentation and taste were 10/10. We had charred edamame, crispy octopus, and shrimp tempura for starters. For the main course, I had the iberico pork rice bowl. We also shared the spicy tuna maki. They gave us a complimentary hamachi truffle poke. They said it was because they accidentally made an extra one, but I think it's because they overheard us noting how long the food was taking. The truffle poke was the most interesting dish I tried here, and it had such unique flavours. Overall, this was a great culinary experience, and I loved everything that we ate. This restaurant is aptly named because it is a 10/10 in my book! We went for dinner on a Friday night around 6:00 PM without a reservation. They were able to seat us right away at the sushi bar. The service was impeccable. The hostess was friendly, our server was knowledgable and I think the best part of our experience was the interaction with our sushi chef. Since we sat at the bar, he gave us some suggestions when we asked, checked on us here and there so it never felt intrusive, and introduced us to some little extras. I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar! Food-wise, we started with the king crab croquettes (10/10). They were so delicious that I didn't get to snap a pic because even piping hot, they went straight down the hatch! Huge lump pieces of crab, fried to perfection in the most delectable sauce. Mmm...(If you watch VPR, these are to me probably what goat cheese balls are to Stassi). Next we had the hamachi carpaccio (10/10) with huge pieces of truffle on top and a delicious flavor from the sauce. For the maki, we tried the BBQ Toro and it was definitely very unique and complex in terms of flavor. The toro was melt in your mouth flavorful, almost buttery, and inside the roll there was some crunch. I would rate it a 10/10 because of the creativity with the roll and flavor. We shared a 10 piece sashimi, which I didn't picture because after the chef described the pieces, we dug right in. It was beautifully presented and the chef even curated two extra pieces for us to try. Another 10/10! For the plates, we tried the roasted cauliflower to get our veggies in. It was so delicious! The flavor is amazing; however the sauce pairing seemed interesting to me. I would rate it a 8/10 just because I would have preferred a softer cauliflower and I did not love the sauce. For dessert, we ended with the chocolate mousse. This was definitely the weakest part of the meal in my opinion. None of the desserts jumped out at me and I don't know if we made the right choice with the mousse. It was a 6/10 for me and when I return, because I'll be back, I'd probably skip out on the dessert. The ambiance is very dark and romantic or I guess can also be described as modern and trendy. I'm starting off my review with a huge shoutout to the manager last night. Wish I got his name but he made a huge effort to correct what could've been a terrible dining experience. Last night was a really busy night (10/10 @ Tenten was a celebration). Our table got moved half way into our service. Our original server was not attentive and lost our meal ticket so all we had were our drinks and a salad. The moment the manager realized this he took swift action and not only admitted what happened, but gave us a round of drinks, personally served us, and made us feel special. Plenty of vegetarian options. Lots of options if you want more nigiri vs sashimi. Also some larger meat dishes. Menu has changes periodically to keep it fresh. There is a full bar with delicious cocktails. It wasn't on the menu, but my friend and I asked for a Japanese whisky flight which was awesome. Bartender came out and gave us some guidance. Overall, I think the food was fine. We got sashimi and there was nothing we were unhappy with but something also didn't feel that special or especially quality about the fish. Drinks were good. I was in Austin last weekend during the deep freeze and winter storm. Found this place on Yelp in downtown Austin and decided to give it a try. Our waitress was super friendly and great. We liked the vibes and ambiance of the restaurant. Since it was so cold outside we decided to warm up with some miso soup first. Unfortunately, the soup was way too salty. We had to add some water to it so we could drink it. The nigiri sushi was delicious and fresh. We also liked the truffle scallop roll. It was topped with freshly shaved truffle which was a nice touch. We weren't big fans of the futomaki as it had a lot going on and the flavor was overpowered with some sort of mint or cilantro in it. It's the go-to spot if you're tired of the overly casual places around here. A word to the wise: dress up. Don't be that techie in a Christmas sweater while your date is rocking Louboutins. But I digress. The food is a bit overhyped. This isn't top-tier sushi, and it doesn't surpass other high-end omakase spots in NY, despite what some reviewers claim. It's good, and the drinks are great. The toro tuna tartare stood out as delicious. However, the rolls and nigiri were just decent, except for the salmon - my wife couldn't even swallow it. Uni from California was alright, but it can't compete with Japanese imports. In essence, it's a solid local sushi spot with an amazing vibe. It's great for a night out with the girls, but let's not elevate it to the epitome of high-end sushi. Most places in Austin haven't reached that level yet; we need more competition from chefs with Michelin star-worthy attention to detail who won't settle for mediocrity in the kitchen before Austin takes it up a notch. read more

Came here an hour before closing for late dinner. Because of that a lot of things were not available on the menu. I really came to try their yellow tail my cousin raves about but they didn't have anymore. We tried multiple rolls out favorite was the scallop roll. Very very flavorful and I hear it's the same sauce they use for the yellow tail. Spicy tuna roll was good. Shrimp tempura roll I could of passed on and I forgot the name of the last roll but it was good as well. The star of the show was the charred edamame. The sauce they use is a Smokey sweet but it was sooo good. We also got the crispy octopus ( not pictured) next time we will pass on that. It wasn't seasoned well so it really lacked flavor in my opinion. We also ordered a chicken dish that was on the shareable s side of the menu (also not pictured) that was good as well. We also ordered Brussels sprouts which were good as well. We paired all this with a few cocktails. The one pictured was with gin and topped with Prosecco. We also got a bottle of sake to share with the table. Both were good. Service was great. Food came out rather quick and customer service was very good. Just didn't like that everything was not available. Ambiance was romantic and very vibey on there with low lighting, sexy music. It was def a vibe. This place is not cheap. Ten ten was 10/10! Almost comparable to Uchi I felt. I set reservations for 6:30pm and we came early around 5:40pm and was seated immediately. Wasn't as pack as well but instead of making us sit at the lounge we were able to sit at the dining area. All servers and waiters were knowledgeable. The waiter did give us some recommendations, but we didn't choose everything he mentioned. He gave me confidence in my order though. The food came out super quick and they were all pretty good. --Iberico Pork Belly (3/5) - The pork belly was in small strips braised til tender. It was more on the salty side and paired well with the watermelon to balance out the savory-ness. It was not all that though, reminded me of the Vietnamese dish "thit kho" --Hamachi Carpaccio (5/5) - Super good! Fresh hamachi dish that was so refreshing. Yuzu sauce, topped with sliced truffle and some sort of crunchy peppers that I took off, but my husband liked the peppers. --Shima Aji Nigiri (5/5) - A firm white fish that was amazing, there was a citrus zest on it and they over did it with salt but I still enjoyed it. All Nigiri comes in 2 pieces btw! --Hamachi Toro Nigiri (5/5) - My favorite nigiri of the night, the fish was more on the softer side since it's the belly of the hamachi. Topped with robata salt that boosted the flavor of the fish. --Salmon Toro Nigiri (4/5) - Tasted like regular salmon, nothing too great about it. It was topped with a slice of tomato and roe. --A5 Wagyu Nigiri (5/5) - So soft and tender. Most sushi places have a5 wagyu and usually it's very chewy but I felt like this melted in your mouth. Amazing flavor, cooked just perfecting slightly seared on the top. --Scallop Maki (5/5) - My favorite roll of the night. The scallop did not have the mushy slimy taste as other sushi restaurants would. It was a little more firm due to the citrus that kind of "cooks" it but not really. Also had yuzu and truffle on it. AMAZING! --Chirashi Maki (5/5) - Riceless roll, with hamachi, snow crabs, and salmon. I took out the tuna since I am pregnant and cannot eat the tuna unfortunately. It was a refreshing roll that doesn't make it feel too much or too heavy since there are a lot of proteins in the roll. My second favorite roll of the night. --Hamachi Maki (3.5/5) I was not a fan of the relish jalapeño on this. I thought it would be more refreshing and citrusy but it wasn't really. The other hamachi items were way better. I would pass. Great experience, great food, great ambiance. I would definitely come back here again if and when we're in town. It's definitely more of a social/drinking place, because the food menu is more limited (compared to Uchi, Soto, Haru, etc.) - but it makes sense given its location on 6th St. It would be a great date night spot due to its aesthetic and location. We ordered 7 items and it all came out within 5 mins. of ordering. I think in total we were in and out of the restaurant in under 45 mins.! Food ratings: - Brussel sprouts (3/5): These were good but nothing crazy. A good sweet and savory balance. - Miso soup (2/5): Mostly just got this to have something help fill us up. Pretty basic, maybe even a little bland. But what can you expect. - Nigiri (otoro + salmon belly; 4/5): Probably the best bites we ordered. Pricy but worth it. Pretty fresh and delightful. - Scallop maki (3/5): For $18 it was just okay. Kind of needed something else to elevate the flavor. - Toro maki (3/5): Again, it was decent but nothing mind blowing. Very mediocre. - Chirashi maki (4/5): Easily the best maki we ordered. Had the most flavor. We got it with the traditional rice and seaweed as opposed to the cucumber it comes in (on the menu). Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, but I don't think I have any desire to return. The pork had a crisp breading and was drizzled with a savory sauce. It was tender and perfectly cooked. I loved the tart pickled cabbage that was served with it. It was a perfect complement to the richness of the pork. The rice was well seasoned, and the green onion was in little crunchy spirals, which were delicious and fun.
