This place is the best and most consistent Mexican food in town. I go all the time and have NEVER been treated rudely in the slightest. And yes their salsa is spicy-ish, like it's supposed to be. Most folks have been eating boil in a bag pre made Mexican for so many years you don't remember what it's supposed to taste like. These folks are top notch and at a good price. Ignore the negative reviews. Tequila had a great vibe and was packed, but the food came out fast. Unlimited chips and salsa is always a plus. Tammy, our server, was amazing, especially for her first day. She was friendly, attentive, and quick with refills. The carne asada tacos were flavorful and not dry. The queso with chorizo was well-balanced and not too salty. We also tried the burrito monster with shredded pork, and it was surprisingly good and not soggy. The mango frozen margarita was just okay, a bit syrupy and didn't taste fresh. When I was seated, I noticed that my table rocked back-and-forth and the only way to keep it still was to either keep an elbow on the table or just not touch the table at all. My first entrée was the nachos and salsa. Now there was a time when everything I ate I wanted to be hot but the older I've gotten the more mild I would like it. I must say the salsa was very spicy and I couldn't eat it all. I hate to say, but the nachos didn't taste fresh. Yes I'm a little salty but it's definitely not because of this margarita. In our area there aren't a ton of options but I think I'm done with Tequilas, not sure yet. We have been here several times and it is pretty consistently the same scenario. The food is good, staff is nice but the quality of service is lacking. When I have ordered a margarita, I have to remind the waiter (same guy every time) to bring me the drink. He reply's with,"frozen or rocks?" Like it's the first time I have asked. And I respond, "rocks with salt." You can see in the photo the salted rim, this is the most salt I have ever had on one of their drinks. Ugh. One time I actually asked for an empty glass with just the salt so I could pour my drink into. Tonight, I wanted a 2nd margarita and after waiting for quite some time I walked up to the register to ask for one. He told me our waiter would be by. The waiter did come by pretty quickly with drink in hand (photo here). The glass was warm like it had just came out of the dishwasher. I am pretty sure it was just mix- so tart it was undrinkable. I wanted to ask him to replace it but he never came back so we had to go to register to pay. It was late in the evening (9pm on a Wednesday night w/church crowd entering as we were leaving) maybe they were cleaning as the Fabuloso was kickin. On tonight, my cousins and I decided to have dinner at Tequila on 28East in Pineville. While two of us arrived before the 3rd cousin, we decided to order our drinks and enjoy the chips and salsa. An older gentlemen waiter came and asked when the last person was going to arrive because he wanted us to hurry up and order our food so he could get off early because it was his birthday. Well we told him happy birthday and we joked that most people do not work on their birthdays! Well after that, he walked away and the last cousin arrived. He came and took her drink order and we asked for more chips and salsa for her. He returned with the wrong drink order and with a horrible attitude. He asked us was that all we wanted because he was not walking back and forth getting us things, mind you we still didn't order our meal. The only thing that was asked of him was for him to bring queso for the cousin who had just arrived. I asked him what was with the attitude for because we always eat here and never experienced this before. I thought we were being pranked. After that I asked for the manager and he acted as if he did not understand or care! After asking for another waiter and the manager nothing was ever done, so I asked for our check to pay for the drinks so we could leave. While paying for the drinks, the manager came out and I informed him of what happened and he had nothing to say. Not one apology was made for him being rude to us! I became so enraged that I asked them were they treating us like this because we were black because my husband and I eat here all the time and I am not understanding the lack of disrespect. Well nothing was done once again! No apology, no understanding NOTHING.
