They were asked to and stated they had replaced rotten posts, they had not. Other rotten boards were left with facia and flooring put onto it. We had them come back 3 times after they had finished to repair or complete the things that either weren't done or not done properly and still it wasn't completed. We paid off the remaining balance and had a company we had used for several years repair and replace everything needed at an additional cost over what we had already paid out.

The casita had not been touched since the house was built in the late 80's and it was very outdated. The first two estimates I receives were in the high 40's and 50's to remodel the 480 sq ft. CCD's estimate was in the low 30's and they stayed in budget and only went over schedule a few days which was not their fault. Every tradesman we have to go into the casita has postive comments on the workmanship. Tom and his team created a beautiful space that we could have my mother use while she is here in WA helping take care of our daughter. We have since used them in other projects in our main house: - adding a closet system for our daughter's room - adding a window to our basement guest room - closet system for the owner's suite - creating additional storage in our daughter's room - adding safety rails in our home - creating a statement wall in the owner's suite - making custom window treatments for the owner's suite - removing old built in from the house that were installed when the house was built in 88 - creating storage, statement wall and a custom desk for my office. The owner assured me that their motto is to not leave a job until the customer gives the go ahead, and in my case they clearly lived up to that work ethic. I called them right back and a man answered rudely asking why I was calling... I politely explained I was returning their phone call and he still questioned me as why I was calling, short tempered. They were very specific to need to meet at my residency and needing my address apparently to meet but I was fine with meeting them at a close destination. They arrived on time, and I quickly realized the man I spoke to on the phone that was very rude was the guy that was pitching that he would be the GC of our job. He was persistent that he wanted to speak to my husband, as if I am not capable of making a decision if they are someone we would like to hire. I feel like he was overselling his capabilities of doing our job and he walked into that consultation as of needing to show me he was the boss. I need a GC that's capable of communication and fulfilling the job. Their tactic was very skeptical. I will give it to them, that they were quick to try to pick up a job, and they arrived on time and I was able to have a cordial short conversation with them to know they were not going to be our general contractor. He gave me a ball park bid. The price was higher than what I felt they were capable of, and higher than most other contractors. They also claimed they had a reputation with the local banks, but they wanted us to be the dealer. Maybe good for small out of pocket jobs??? But definitely not new construction builds that may require a lender, unless you are doing an owner build. Overall, based on my brief experience with them. Don't waist your time or money. Lack of trust in their ability to complete a job smoothly. This review is based off their communication skills.

I individually interpreted his responses at several points in our phone conversation to be confirming to me that he was, in fact, a structural engineer. I did not go ahead with the appointment, because he grew evasive when I requested to be able to confirm his licensing status in advance of our meeting (he had agreed to bring his licensing info to the meeting). I finally looked online myself, and to the best of my ability to judge, his engineer license appears to have expired in August, 2002. Please also note that the license for the contracting company listed on this Yelp page appears to also have expired in 2021. (In our phone conversation, he indicated having come out of retirement, and that he was part of a new company. However, I did not receive enough information to independently verify that.)

The crew that worked on my basement did good work -- the framing, drywall, electrical, and painting were solid, and the individual workers were skilled and professional. If the project had been completed, I'd have been happy with the quality. The problem is it wasn't completed. The job started in early January with an estimated two-week timeline. Two months later, with work still unfinished, I had to terminate the contract. Throughout that time, communication was poor -- I had to repeatedly chase down updates, received multiple promises of crew returning that didn't happen, and got a series of explanations for delays (some legitimate, some not) with no consistent follow-through. I had paid in full before the work was done. Despite my termination letter and a formal refund request for the unfinished items, the company disputed the amount owed and has not paid. I ultimately completed much of the remaining work myself and hired a junk hauling service to handle the cleanup they agreed to do. I don't question the quality of the hands-on work. But reliability, communication, and accountability matter just as much -- and on those fronts, I can't recommend this contractor.
